We are appealing for a foster home for Jack. He would suit a home with the company of another dog and not to be left for long periods. He needs someone capable of strict training to help him overcome his separation anxiety. He walks like a dream on the lead and he is good with other breeds. He loves to cuddle and is a very gentle boy but needs someone to help him overcome his emotions. If you think you can help, please give me a call on 0121 782 7702. Ruth x

Sadly for Tilly, the family did not pass their home visit due to problems with their fencing. They have called to say they would like to un-reserve her.

Hi manda, sadly she bit the other grey on the head..... This is something that came happen with dog ownership but with a bit more perserverance with a muzzle and training this can easily be overcome. It is still extremely early days for Ellie-May to behave as a house pet after 10 years in kennels but she will get there..... I think a couple of weeks at the Boswell house will teach her! This old girl just needs a loving home to spend her last few years with home comforts and we hope she finds this soon x

Iris has settled in very well, lovely long walk this morning and lots of racing around the garden with her new brothers and sisters. She is now sitting next to me watching what I am writing!

Deb, knowing how well you've done with Millie I have no doubts you would cope with two, and Flash sounds like a lovely dog, why delay the inevitable, ask ruth if you can take him on trial to prove to your hubby it would work, then work on him! I would not normally write this but i'm sure everything would be fine. Trust your instincts Im sure their right.Im working tomorrow so wont be at training but hope to see you soon - Dave.

Look at it this way. When Iris's time does come she will go at least knowing what it is to have a loving home. As we said when we came about Topsy, we know the pain too well having had to have Dookie PTS after 8 years. Im not religious but I found this helpful: A Dog For Jesus I wish someone had given Jesus a dog As loyal and loving as mine To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes And adore Him for being divine. As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog Would have followed Him all through the day While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well And knelt in the garden to pray. It is sad to remember that Christ went away To face death alone and apart With no tender dog following close behind To comfort its Master's Heart. And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn How happy He would have been As His dog kissed His hands and barked its delight For The One who died for all men. Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine The old pal so dear to me And I smile through my tears on this first day alone Knowing they're in eternity. Day after day, the whole day through Wherever my road inclined Four feet said, "I am coming with you!" And trotted along behind.

Popped into the kennels today and ended up going for a walk with some of the greys and my lurcher Millie. The boys treated her like a princess and she seemed particularly taken with Flash who is adorable and justs wants lots of hugs. I still need to work on my husband as I think Millie and Flash would make a fine couple. Where ever he goes his new family will be so lucky he is a true gent and so affectionate and well behaved.

Dear Ruth What an extremely emotional week it has been for you, all at Dayreaks and indeed for all of us who have been following Iris's story via the website. I believe her fate was taken from out of your hands so you would not have to go through what you did with Lucy last year. You do so much for these beautiful dogs; help with the enormous burden sometimes comes in unexpected ways. Love Kate and Twiggy xxxx

    I’m Homed

I had the pleasure of taking Jack out for a long walk on Wednesday. He was a little unsure at first (well, he had only just met me!) but when he got more confident he was amazing. He walks beautifully and liked to trot by my side, he looked very elegant, he was spooked by a car and he jumped, but did not pull me, such a careful boy. He met a very excited Cocker Spaniel, they had a very good sniff of each other, Jack was a true gent, very calm and careful. I think he would thrive in a home where he knows his place, this would give him the confidence to be the cheeky chappy that I suspect is hiding underneath...plus he's very gorgeous, who could resist?! xxxx

    I’m Homed

Penny is just sooo snuggly, a real love sponge! I took her for a walk on Wednesday, she did pull at first, but really calmed down on the way back and was trying to walk nicely...she kept looking at me as if to say "I know you don't want me to pull...but there is SO much to see!" She's a real character and whoever's lucky enough to adopt her will have a beautiful, loyal and very loving friend for life xxxx
