seperation anxiety is such hard work not only for the dog but also the owner. we had a dog that had this for the whole time we had her which was 8yrs, it was hard going at first especially with the neighbours!but after some good advice and trainging we had a brilliant dog, sitting with your coat on and off during the day and not just putting your coat on and walking out the door for a few hours eases the dog's anxiety and they don't think oh no they are leaving me again!!. The dap difusser is a must, we knew when it had ran out, ripped up dish cloths in the kitchen!, sticking to a routine is a an absoulte must with a dog with this problem, if you work at it they will get their head around it and the problem will get better. Casey was a brilliant dog, she was not a grey but a rescue from 6 months old, we all love and miss her i would have not had change anything, good luck sprout where ever you go.x

Hi its Ellie-May (HT), just letting you know how I'm getting on. H.T. stands for 'Human Trainer' by the way, so things are going well, Chris and Dawn are very nice and are responding to initial training, I've got them moving furniture and beds around at the moment to make things more comfortable, trying to decide which sofa to sleep on (the things a girl has to decide on huh). Getting along with Jake (couple of spats nothing of consequence), who has done intial training with Chris and Dawn, thinking of entering them into H-ruft's next year in the 'Working Humans' section but much work to do before then.Food's good eating two meals a day plus breakfast of weetabix and warm milk plus the odd 'markie', walks twice a day and a good garden to mooch around in. So all in all a good start, using reverse psychology at the moment, let them think they are in control, and it keeps them happy. So love to all and remember when you go to a new home 'lots of cuddles they love it'. xxx

Poor Sprout he sounds like Billy was when we took him on.Billy was deemed un-homable,destructive and couldn't be left on his own,he had 4 homes before we took him on.However for some reason he was never homed with another dog i think this was the major problem. When Billy came to us we had Kia at the time and they used to get on really well,Billy definately liked to be dominated by a female, she would always take the lead.We lost Kia a few years ago so i was quite worried at the time but he is fine and he has Pepsi (cat) for company. We could never leave him all day though,5 hours is about the max and there is usually someone around during the day as i only work part time.Sounds like he would definately be better off with another grey to settle him and build his confidence.Good luck Sprout !

    I’m Homed

Kelly keeps briging her mummy presents and placing them neatly in the middle of the bed 🙂 apparently yesterday it was a selection of winter vegetables, including a whole squash! Frances is getting better each day and Kelly is being walked by a variety of friends, all of them saying how good she is on the lead 🙂

Sprout:- Is adorable, sweet, gentle, loving, walks well on his lead and was coming to his name, even a whistle when in the Garden, Hes good with other dogs including small jack russels etc. Does not like anyone or another dog behind him when walking. Does not like Cats (real live furry ones.) His only issue which appear to have got worse from when Lisag had him is his separation anxiety he hates being left, five hours of none stop barking whining and yelping, I could not bring myself in his best intrests to leave him 10 this coming monday morning, He would have worked himself into a right state. He needs someone who can spend a lot of time with him and wean him gradually into separation. He never moaned at night, but he was in the bedroom with me. It is my fault too that he is being returned . He would in my opinion suit a retired person or housewife that will be with him most of the time building his confidence up, maybe another greyhound would help him. That wasn't an option for me. I'm devastated for him that I've failed him 🙁 I'm so sorry to everyone who tried to help me and him.

oh Im absolutely gutted for him. Poor Mars, I cannot believe it, he really isn't a bad dog, he was fine when with me, apart from a couple of small issues which would be very easily fixed in the right home. Im so, so sorry for him he has had a raw deal. Please, anyone who is looking at this and considering him, he is such a lovely boy, I think he just needs a little time and maybe the person needs to have no other major distractions in their lives and can offer this boy the commitment he deserves. He was pretty much an angel with me (apart from the general "new doggie" little mishaps), he came back totally through my fault as Ive explained below. Mars, u poor boy U must be really feeling it now, such a sweet sensitive boy.....Im so sorry, and i still miss u xx
