Dreamer went to her new home on Christmas Eve. I had a telephone call today from her new owner today who told me that Dreamer had hurt her leg and had to go to the vets. When x-rayed at the vets they found that she has fractured her leg. The x-rays also showed what looks like bone cancer. Decisions will be made tomorrow and I will keep you posted. Massive hugs to you Dreamer xxxxx

Olive
Over the Rainbow Bridge
It’s exactly a year since we first met Olive. She was curled up in the back corner of the kennel and was very timid. She even flinched when we stroked her, but we knew straight away that we’d like to give her a home. The next day she and Ruby came home with us. What a difference a year makes. Although Olive can still be shy when she first meets someone, she’s now a bouncy, loving, confident girl and is excellent with all other breeds of dog. When she first went to Wednesday training classes she trembled and shook and wouldn’t leave our side, but now she loves it and can’t wait to greet all her friends, both doggy and human. She passed her Kennel Club bronze award in July, and was placed 1st in the Prettiest Bitch class at Box Trees Dog Show (the one in the rain!) We love both our girls to bits – thanks so much to Ruth for trusting them to us and to everyone else who has given us help and advice.

Rubie
I’m Homed
Ruby joined our family a year ago along with her new sister Olive. Olive was a very timid dog; Ruby was the complete opposite, outgoing and friendly. Ruby had only just finished racing when we rehomed her and it took her some time to settle into home life. Although she was very friendly with people, other dogs were another matter! We also struggled to get her clean at night. We asked for advice from Daybreaks and from Julie, Carole and Yvonne at Wednesday training classes, but nothing worked for more than a few nights. In the end after 6 months she worked it out for herself and has hardly had an accident since. At about the same time she also started to calm down at training classes and the cry of ‘Brace yourselves, Ruby’s coming off the lead’ were less frequent. Ruby’s racing notes show that she was always ‘fast away’, and that’s her – she does everything at the double. After a lot of patient training she’s now much better with other dogs and was playing off the lead in the snow last week with 2 springer spaniels! My advice to anyone else who has similar problems is to ask for help – some dogs take longer to settle than others and things can be turned round with time and patience. Ruby is a wonderful addition to our family – thanks Ruth and everyone else at Daybreaks

She is doing really, really well. Sleeping through the night, doing her business outside and behaving incredibly well on her walks. She is loved and doing well.

Would she get on with another gentle greyhound girl who's very friendly to all other dogs herself? Looking for a companion for our 3-year old, but want another petite girl really.

We agree with Wispas Mum having a new grey is a learning process for both dogs and owners, all dogs have different personalities, and can take time to settle in.Some settle in straight away some need more time as we found out with our 3rd grey who we would not be without.Plenty of exercise and attention keeps everyone happy.
