yes definately get him checked for corns. my boy had corns and this was missed by our original vet, he was given xrays and metacam etc, they even implied that i was making his limp up! a greyhound trainer took one look at him jump off the van and told me straight away that he had corns and that was causing his limp. changed my vet to fivelands and his corns have been removed now and he's fine. greyhounds are the only dogs to suffer with corns, so a vet that is'nt experienced in greyhounds may miss this and as Pam says they are not always easy to spot. good luck with ur boy, sending lots of healing thoughts xxx

Hi Pam, Yes - Jon & Val, well worked out. If all goes to plan we are collecting the dogs on 1 April, so that we can settle them in over the Easter holiday. I suspect that we are likely to find plenty of excuses to visit as often as possible in between. Jon.

Is he as lame when you walk him on grass. If he is better on grass look for a corn. Sometimes the skin heals over the corn so it is not visible to the eye. Hope your news is good. Good Luck Pam xx

Both had a shower today as the weather was warmer, took it well, John and I were wetter than the dogs. Sylv

Please send positive vibes Jack's way for tomorrow, he's having an x-ray to try and find out why he's limping. After a week of anti-inflammatories and rest, he's still no better, I'm praying it's something easily fixed and nothing sinister...

Hi Laura, I'll be at the walk on Sunday with my pack, and I'm more than happy to be 'harrassed' about my greys! Razzle is beautiful, I can certainly see the attraction! Em x

Yes we are having Bailey too. We were really sorry that we will have to leave Sticky though. They seem to get on so well and Sticky has had a bad time. Common sense is prevailing at the moment as we are reletively inexperienced, and taking on 3 Greys is probably overly ambitious 🙂

Thanks Mand, really appreciate your reply. I might try and join the walk on Sunday to harass a few people! 🙂 I'm hoping to pop to the kennels on Sat too to see all the new arrivals. Easter hols coming up soon, two weeks off work would be a good settling in time.

Hi Lauramc. If you've had a successful home-check, then I guess that the RGT are happy with where you live. Cat friendly greyhounds are out there too. As for working long hours, nothing makes you want to get home earlier, than knowing that your best friend is waiting for you. I used to work ridiculous hours before we adopted our little fella, now I have a reason to make sure I'm out on time. If you haven't been already, perhaps you could think about joining us on one of the greyhound walks and talk to the owners (blimey do we love spend time talking about our greyhounds!) or pop along to an awareness roadshow and find out what works for them and their greyhounds. We slowly built up the time over a few days that we left Gent on his own. As Skinnyme said, the right greyhound will choose you. We had met a few greyhounds before Gent chose us and it was like love at first sight, I didn't believe in it until it happened to us. Take your time, perhaps spend some more time with the dogs at the kennels and you can talk to Ruth and her team without fear of feeling pushed into anything. It's not a cliche, it really does feel like being part of one big, happy family when you adopt a greyhound from Daybreaks and help is only a phone-call (or website message) away. Mand x

Thanks Kallie, we can't wait to get Shannon home. We're thinking of changing her name to Macy, what do you think? We will visit on Saturday morning (I hope) to see her and Bailey, if that is ok. Jon & Val

It's been a couple of things I guess. I live in a maisonette, work a long day (though it could be shorter!) and I have a cat who only comes home once a week ish so I know that could be very unsettling. :-/

Aren't Greyhounds the most wonderful dogs? It's lovely to hear how Tilly is helping you all after your loss. It was so obvious how upset you were, but it looks as though this little girl is helping to heal you all. Keep us posted, it's really nice to hear how you are all getting on. Take care. Mand x
