Oh wow, I've never heard of a Greyhound as old as this little lady, it's fantastic, you must be so proud of her.......every day is a blessing as you say, so enjoy your time with your special girl, she sounds delightful xxxxx

It's wonderful to hear how Kylie is doing! Wow! 15 years 8months old 🙂 I can still remember the day she came into the kennels with her brothers and sisters after her previous owner passed away. What a fabulous life she has had with you. :)) Great to hear your lovely Lucy is doing well too. Lots of love to them both, Kate Xxx

I had the pleasure of walking Locky this afternoon. He does walk very nicely on the lead but doesn't always want to turn round to come back to the kennels. 🙂 Fortunately his split tail is looking much better, it's amazing the speed he can wag his tail! It goes round and round like a helicopter! Hoping his forever home will soon come along. Xxx

Samson has settled well at the kennels. Normally when I look at the cameras in the evening he is laying on his back, legs in the air looking very relaxed. :)) He is a lovely lad. Xxx

Dougie (Nidge)

Nidge made a friend today. One of our volunteers brought her gorgeous little Lurcher in with her. She went out for a walk with Nidge and he loved her company. When they came back, Nidge didn't want to go back to his kennel. They went into the sand run together for a play. 🙂 Do hope Nidge's forever home comes along soon. He is a very happy, friendly lad. He would be happy on his own but im sure he would love a little girlfriend to share his life with. :)) Xxx

Kylie

Hi all. It's now March 2021 and Kylie has been with us since 02 Nov 2014. We thought she may be with us for two or three years at most, if we were lucky. As she is such a little star, she is still with us and is currently 15 years and 8ish months old. She is a little sweetheart and largely doing well but she is becoming more frail and can only manage short potters now. Lucy is still around to provide company for Kylie (and is 13 years 7 months old herself). Kylie is still quick to give us her opinion on things and a bright eyed little lady with ears that pop right on top of her head when she thinks a treat may be forthcoming (I think she stole them off a donkey!). She can't go far anymore but she goes for a sniff around in the back garden and out onto the canal verge outside our house to have a sniff of the crocuses and Stinking Bob weeds - she loves that stuff! Her main issue is weakness in her hind legs but she can still manage to toilet by herself and can generally get herself up, but she does get stuck on occasion so we have to keep rethinking the placing of the beds. She's still very interested in what we're doing, eating pretty well and apparently stuck her nose on Andy's new guitar neck a few days ago and got a note out of it. Each extra day with this girl is a blessing and we're so glad we provided a home for her all those years ago. A little lady with a huge character. Our Queen K most definitely!

PLANNED RESPONSE , so I sat down to sausage and chips and a TV show, I'd got 2 sausages and some chips and watercress , I only ate one sausage at the time and thought "Oh well , I'll save that other one till later" and all the time in the background , unknown to me , at the foot of my bed an attack was being plannned 10 feet away , so for 45 minutes , I watched what I was watching and at that moment ,and , with military precision, when both my hands were on my chair as I got up , the sausage was gone, Celia must have been planning her next move for those 45 minutes that I was distracted ,there is no other explanation even Jess was confused , so I gave Jess the few leftover chips ,much to the dismay of my strategic food time attack planner.

Daybreaks Diary!

Can someone please tell spring it was supposed to have sprung by now!! It felt so cold again. Thanks as always to our Wednesday walkers, together with Denise and Dave there was just one morning walk albeit wet. This afternoon Chris arrived and there were two walks done, at least it was a little dryer. Thanks to you all for coming in every week, I really do appreciate it. I managedto have a little office time to catch up with some paperwork. The sand run is still proving popular, so please if you want to book please do so well in advance. Cannot wait until we can welcome more of our lovely volunteers back to the kennels. Until then as always stay safe and well. Xx

A quick update as she is spending her third week with us. She is not nearly as scared of everything as she was. She has learned her name and responds to treats now. She knows where the treats are kept and stands in line with her brothers at every opportunity. She is loving and very kissy. She is now known as Mayah the Monster and lives up to her name ! She is now racing around at at least 100 mph, stairs are navigated in no seconds flat. She loves leading her brother Morgan astray. It's a good job Grayson is the sensible one !

A big cuddle for Leo tonight. After spending a night back at the kennels he went off to a foster home this afternoon. Keeping everything crossed all goes well for him. He is a lovely lad who needs some stability in his life. Xxx
