    I’m Homed

Prince had ups but also some downs this last week, but his improvements are continuing. So, you may ask why ups and downs. Lets first do a bit of the downs. The two main areas are weeing in the house and my young daughter. But we keep going with positive re-enforcement to make him understand when he is doing the weeing behaviour we need. This week he has continued to manage to hold his wee during the night, which is great. Being patient with him and re-enforcing at the right time is the critical element with Prince. With my daughter he has really improved, she can now play and make noises and do her movement which no longer spooks Prince and he watches her. Unfortunately, one time I took my daughter out when it was dark, and I am not sure what Prince thought Sofia was but he was trying to get her. Second incident today, where my daughter was doing Yoga following TV guidance when she was making lots of noises and movements and he saw her as a toy. Again, I am able to keep both my daughter and Prince save. Therefore, I still belief that Prince will thrive in an active family with older children or no children. Lets now talk about the ups with Prince and there are many of them. Prince is really starting to respond to his name. This is especially important as it helps with control. He listens to his name, raising his head, equally the percentage of Prince coming when called is also increasing. This is great news. He used to do an extremely high pitch bark when he sees other dogs. Through positive re-enforcement I am managing to calm this down. Now he more often will just look at the dogs but not do the high pitch bark. He has not lost his curiosity about the world and everything around him. He has engaged well with other dogs, small and large. He is also no longer running into the kitchen when there is the opportunity. I mentioned active family, Prince really loves his walks, not just because he likes to be outdoors, but he simply enjoys the walks. Now that his castration wound has healed, I was able to take him for more and longer walks. I would take him 3 times a day on average 40-minute walks each. He would still want more, when I got ready to go out, he will come to the front door with and look at me to say can I come. We played with toys also. We played, tug and war, with a ball, he would come up with a duck, and we played with a flirt pole several times. The later really is tiring for him, 5 minutes and that is enough. Just some observations, compared to Charlotte, he has an incredibly good sense of smell he picks up scents very quickly. He has a sensitive set of ears. He sometime responds to noises I have not heard. He is very observant. He has watch me open the gate to the kitchen (child safe gate) and has workout the there is a latch he needs to lift. One time I had not pushed it down properly and he was trying to lift the hatch with his nose. I was well impressed. I think Prince has done well this week with his improvements. He is learning how to behave in the house. Yes, he has had a couple of slip-ups but that is part of learning you make mistakes. Unfortunately, todays mistake means I must keep both my daughter and Prince safe I will have to stop the fostering. I find it upsetting because I feel I have failed him on the other hand he has made great progress. What is especially important to realise that Prince placed in the right environment will be a great addition to that family. I am sorry Prince that I must stop the fostering, but also well-done Prince with your progress over the time you were with us. Have a great retirement.

Russ did stop getting the washing up bowl for about 30 mins and stick to me like glue to help me with the dinner. Food comes before anything else.

    I’m Homed

Kiara is so much more confident in the house. She has been playing with toys for a week or so but today has been throwing the new toy I bought her into the air then chasing after it. Lovely to see 🙂 Although she is very protective of the toys and growls at any of our lot who go near her, Momma (who is staying with us at the moment), takes no notice of her and does what she wants - she’s obviously so used to dealing with Tigs!

Ever since that last post we have had about 20 games of get the bowl. Even the hoomans joined in! They took it back and I stole it! Was a very fun game. Unfortunately they have given up now and it’s left on the living room floor just where I like it! Russ Xx

I have found a way to get the washing up bowl! For anyone wondering all you have to do is stretch and use your paw to pull out the bowl. Then pick it up with your long snoot and make a lot of noise taking it in the living room. After that just leave it on the floor. Russ Xx

    I’m Homed

Foster girl Princess Penny has been with us now for over 2 weeks, she has settled in very well. She is very well behaved and loving. Penny has been completly dry in the house and goes to bed at about 10.30pm and you dont her a peep out of her till 6.15, we have taught her the stairs, but she doesnt do the sofa or bed. She walks good on the lead, initially she was quite timid but that has improved alot, she has met other dogs and though shy she was fine, also travels well in the car. Penny is a beauty, her coat is so soft your hand sinks in, though she does have wonky ears (which are kinda cute). I hope someone is ready for this lovely Princess when lockdown part 2 is over, she is going to make a lovely family pet.

    I’m Homed

God today has been so stressful , so many people in my house and it makes me proper nervous and anxious but don't tell Jess and Dad because they think I'm strong which I am but I just don't like people in my house it does my head in , I overheard Dad saying something to Jess earlier about Curry tomorrow , Curry sounds lovely but I don't think its chicken tikka masala , I think its the mans name who's bringing the new washing machine , I hope he's quick because I cant cope with anymore people in my house , If you think Im just making this up then you need to come visit Celia she's so In charge of the world until someone else comes into our world , Jess is all over them like a rash but Celia the most confident dog in the world when there are just the three of us but as soon as anyone else enters her house its a completely different story ,

Celia hates it when people are in the house and today was a triple whammy , Dad had someone coming round to fix a leak on the roof but then noticed the drains had backed up in the backyard on the same day he was having something called a Smart meter fitted which he's now obsessed with , Well they were all nice people and I loved them all , can't understand why they cant show me there mouth and nose and they cover it in this stupid stuff that wraps around there ears , they do look ridiculous but I love them anyway , Celia wasn't happy though she doesn't like people in our house ,Im simply not telling her about the new washing machine tomorrow cause that will freak her out , sure I will just let her think she runs the joint around here , that's until someone else walks in the door and she's just a scaredy cat

Morning everyone! It is a blustery morning but dry - yay! I bought new lino for the treatment room yesterday so the plan today is to get it laid. The new fence panels are going to be ordered today and fitted asap and we are getting the place shipshape ready for hopefully getting our kennels alive again once Boris says we can!

    I’m Homed

I've loved all my dogs but to have such a clingy dog as Jess is something else she simply wont leave me alone but unlike Carrie neither Jess or Celia makes any mess when Im out , I come in with the mop everyday and they both look at me as if to say Twat put the mop back ,I have to admit I'm missing Carrie beyond what I ever thought was ever possible but Jess is seriously helping and to think I could have only taken Celia but instead decided to take the two of them , so glad I took you both babes, now just give me a bit of space and let me sleep xx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Stefie was such a lovely hound. He was adopted by Margaret and they lived a short walk from us. We often saw them walking past our house on the way to the woods and had a chat with them a few weeks ago when Margaret was telling us that he had a problem with his foot. He looked great apart from that and was always a happy, friendly hound. It’s difficult to believe that he has gone so soon. Margaret would often say how much Stefie had helped her cope during her husband’s illness and she will miss him so much. He was a delightful hound and will be missed by all who knew him.

So Jesamine is pretty obsessed with me , she won't leave me alone at all , when I'm in bed Jess is there like my second skin , I swear if she got any closer to me she would be an internal organ , I could do with a night on my bed without interruption but I'm going to enjoy every moment of it even if I wake with a back neck , I love you Jess you are so amazing x Probably at 2.37am tomorrow Im going to be pushing her off my face saying "get lost I need to sleep" but she's so loving and amazing

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Very sadly after a short illness Stefie has gone to Rainbow Bridge Xxx Thinking of his owner Margaret and her family; he was loved by all. He was a Pure Delight. Xx I was fortunate to see him quite regularly as I dropped his food off for him. He was the happiest of boys and always greeted you with a very waggy tail. 🙂 I saw him last week and despite obviously being uncomfortable, his tail was still wagging. Xx He loved everyone and was friends with the cat up the road. They were known to rub noses. 🙂 Stefie loved going for walks especially in the woods. He was very well know in his local area, everyone stopped to fuss him. Xxx Margaret has lots of lovely memories of him; she says he was simply perfect and her best friend. 🙂 She will miss him terribly. Thank you to Margaret and her late husband Gordon for giving him a wonderful life with them. Xxx Lots of love, God Bless you beautiful Stefie. Xxx Kate, Skip, Fletch and Lyra. Xxx
