So Father Christmas, can you tell me if Auntie Kate has been a good girl and deserves some yummies when I drop off Alan's cakes......if so then an extra bake of mince pies could be winging their way....not via the reindeer but good old Montgomery!! She will need to share with all the kennel elves though!!

I had the pleasure of visiting Gracie and her Dad today. Wow, she looks fantastic and is super happy! She's a cheeky girl and lots of fun, but loves nothing more than cuddling up to her Dad on the sofa. It's obvious they adore each other. So very happy for them both. Xxx Thanks so much to Gracie's Dad for the lovely donation of food for our boys and girls who are still waiting patiently for their forever homes to come along. Xxx

The Christmas Raffle has now been drawn and the lucky prize winners notified. So sorry if you are not a winner this time, but thank you so much to everyone who bought tickets. We are very grateful to Fivelands Vets, Burns Pet Foods, Agria Pet Insurance and Seana who all contributed to the fabulous prizes. The response to the Raffle has been overwhelming, once again thank you. Xxx

We had a lot of visitors today. :)) Great to see some old friends, Lucy and her lovely Ellie, Carol and her handsome Padfoot, Margaret who homed our gorgeous Steffie several years ago to name but a few! Xxx Thanks so much to our usual Thursday volunteers for all their help today. As we only have four dogs in the kennels at the moment, they all went for an extra long walk this morning. :)) May and Pan have both been offered a foster home for the Christmas period and we are hoping someone will offer the same for Monty and Mac. Xxx xxx We have some great Christmas collars and cosy Fleeces for sale at the kennels and we still have a few calendars available. We also have some items remaining from our recent Christmas party. Sadly, Seana's delicious cakes all sold on the day and I missed out! I must make sure I'm at the front of the queue next year! Xxx :)) Thank you so much for all the wonderful donations that are continuing to arrive, we really are overwhelmed by all your support for the beautiful Greyhounds who pass through Daybreaks, on their way to their forever homes, they are all so very special. Xxx

Pan is such a lovely lad. I really hope he won't have to wait too much longer for his forever home. He has been waiting for quite some time now. Xxx

Monty
I’m Homed
If you are looking for a lad who can help with the housework, Monty is the one for you! He is very good at collecting the blankets from the top of the feeding runs...at present he throws them on the floor, but I'm sure with a little practice he could put them into a washing basket! :)) He is a very happy lad, who always makes you smile. Xxx

Mac is back at the kennels. He was staying with Cath and her family but was a little too keen on her small dog Pod. He is a young lad who still has a lot to learn. He is very handsome and very tall! Xxx

Today we have had more volunteers than helpers but this has meant the dogs have had extra TLC and we have got round to blitzing the place! We have lots of lovely Christmas items that have been donated to Daybreaks to help us raise money, so if you would like to pop along and have a look, just give us a call!

Yuk! Such a wet cold day (and after being at A&E yesterday with an asthma attack and chest infection it is probably not the best place I can be but I can't stay away!) However now I have attacked all my emails and post I may just go and keep our new arrival company who has unfortunately been brought to us today. He was rehomed by a rescue in Scotland in January but the owners moved locally and since having their baby 3 weeks ago. With this change in family dynamics, he has become very stressed with the baby and tries to lunge when baby cries. The owners were understandably distraught but baby must come first. As we are still looking for a temporary assistant manager whilst Jo is still on long term sick, adding Mac to the website will be one of the jobs for Steve who is doing a trial day tomorrow! Our other residents are enjoying lots of extra attention and have had a soggy walk but will enjoy enrichment in the runs followed by lots of cuddles and TLC until tea time! With this windy weather, please keep an eye on your garden fencing in case sections get blown down and make sure collars or harnesses are extra snug as sudden gusts of winds can be quite scary! We came in this morning to find the gazebos in the sand run on their sides but Michael and Dave to the rescue who have uprighted and secured them until the weather is dry enough to take them down for storage.

We needed a rowing boat to get to the kennels this morning!! Goodness me, so much rain. It is eerily quiet at the kennels as we have so few dogs now on the run up to our proposed Christmas closure. Those that are in residence all got my super Gold Star Plus Clean Kennel award - well done kids. Delighted that Amy’s viewing worked out and she has gone off to her forever home - be happy pretty little one. X Hopefully we can get all our remaining residents out to a foster home for the festive period, this will enable us to close the kennels and allow the Daybreaks team to take a well earned and well deserved break over Christmas - it has been a bit of a difficult and challenging year for Daybreaks one way and another. Tickets for our Grand Christmas Draw are still available, there are some great prizes on offer, and we have added some extra prizes too as the response has been overwhelming. The draw is next Saturday (16th). We can happily sell you some over the phone if you can’t get in to see us. 2024 Calendars are also still available, they would make a lovely Christmas gift. Stay dry and safe everyone. Angie xx

Sweet little Amy went home today! She has two new older Greyhound Brothers, former Daybreaks resident, Rascal and handsome lad Leo. They met in the car park, Amy ran to greet them and there were kisses all round! They all had a play together in the sand run. Amy was such a good girl. :)) She wanted to get in the car with them but we had to complete her paperwork first! Xxx As you can see from her homing photo she was desperate to be part of the family! Wishing Amy and her family lots of happy times together. Xxx

Thank you so much to everyone who visited the kennels today with Christmas gifts for our lovely Greyhounds and donations. So very kind and generous of you. We are so grateful. Xxx Thank you to the Heely family who dropped off two wonderful food hampers for our residents and to everyone who has arranged for food to be delivered to us. :)) It seems like Christmas everyday at the moment! :)) Xxx Joshy spent the day in the office again and greeted everyone with a smile! Xxx We have a been having a little walk around the bottom end of the sand run before bed the last few nights...he was very interested to see a fox yesterday evening! :)) Xxx

Daybreaks - Get your freezer ready!! I have been contacted by a lady from the Sheldon area that has offered the following: ''Ten packs of Butternut dog food left, ordered from the NEC show. Our dog just fancied his normal tins. Can be frozen for three months or fresh for a week. Also says it’s human grade food so can be stored in our fridge but haven’t done this myself. We also have a load of meat Chubb rolls he’s not bothered about either.'' Initially, the lady wanted a sensible offer but she is happy to donate the food to the kennels. They will be with you in the next day or 2. Either by myself or her. Thank you goes to Katie Hussain for the food!!
