Gal is a little whirlwind of a girl who is desperate to be out and about joining in with whatever's going on, and not spending time in her kennel! She does love to "serenade" you to remind you of the fact that she is in her kennel - but would rather be outside please!!! This lovely, lively little girl would really love her very own home. xx

Luna is a little more settled now, but is a bit reluctant to eat at times and still looks so sad. Understandable really as she is still adjusting to the massive change in her life. We really hope we can find her a forever home soon. xx

I was obviously taking too long with my kennel cleaning duties this morning, as Simba decided to pull down the blankets which had been hanging over the bars of the feeding run, and lay down on them!! Another very handsome, friendly soul. xx

Just love this boy - when he spotted his breakfast bowl on its way this morning he was bouncing so high I feared he would hit his head on the roof of the run!! He may well be post-op recovery, but he certainly doesn't know it!! He is a big lad, but so sweet and just wants to be with you and have cuddles. x

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Thank you Hannah for the update. Myself, my wife and daughter are so pleased to hear Josh has found his calm and is doing so well. If I am honest I am pleasantly surprised how well he is doing. Maybe I have achieved more with Josh than I thought was possible. I agree, he is a very loving boy and I am truly happy that I have had the opportunity to have worked with him. Although, certainly at the beginning this did not always feel that way. But looking back I also feel that the teaching and training went both ways. Josh taught me to think about my non-verbal communication with him, also to listen to his barks, impact of medication to name but a few. Ruth is correct, fear, anxiety, and aggression often have a medical background. The scientific evidence is pointing more to this area. Hannah, well done that you and your partner are able to provide the sweet spot for Josh (I hope that is the correct phrase?) I hope he may and can stay with you for some time so we can better understand his needs. Josh have lots of cuddles from Irina, Sofia and Erik as you always enjoyed those.

Daybreaks Diary!

Massive thanks to Chris and Karla who after we cleaned out, have pretty much run the kennels today for me. This has meant I have been able to attack volumes of paperwork and emails and now feel more on top of everything. Being in the office, I have rotated the stressed dogs so they have enjoyed having a change of scenery - especially Gal - it was lovely to see her actually calm down and fall asleep after she had worn us out!!!! We are getting prepared for our Birthday celebrations this weekend and 17 years ago tomorrow is the day I opened Daybreaks and our party is on Sunday. Let's hope the weather is kind to us. Yesterday myself and Kate went to visit Jo in hospital. She is still very ill but sends her love to everyone. As she will be off recovering for many months, we welcome Chris as Assistant Manager until Jo is back. I have started showing Chris the ropes but as she has been volunteering on Wednesdays and Fridays for many years, she knows a lot of how the kennels work. Well, it is (as Angie always says) wine time.... we have a very very busy day tomorrow!

Rocky

Hello all, we've now had Rocky for 9 weeks now, he's doing really well, loves his walks (he has 3 a day) and adores lying in the garden with a few zoomies when he's in a silly mood which is quite often lately. We are still having issues with meeting people, even when introductions are made and he seems happy to be fussed he suddenly barks for no reason. To clarify its not a nasty teeth bearing bark, just a kind of warning bark, but only to certain people, very strange. But we love him to bits, he makes us laugh, the one day I was washing up and felt a gentle squeeze to my bottom, I thought it was my other half catching a cheeky pinch, turned round to find Rocky play bowing wagging his tail. He has lots of admirers when I walk him, and why not, he's gorgeous. He has an appointment at the vets to determine if he needs to see a chiropractor to check any issues with his head/neck area, why he may be barking at people. Will update on how this pans out. X

Molly

Molly has been staying with us since Sunday as she was struggling being back in kennels after a few years in a home. She took a couple of days to settle, and then started to eat properly and found the sofa! She seemed to want to play with our 3 but they are now just too old and told her they weren’t interested, so she wandered off and lay down somewhere else. She is a bit reactive to other dogs when we’re out on a walk, but this is variable. She’ll definitely bark at running dogs and sometimes also at another dog walking nearby but not always. She loves being near people but can’t manage the stairs without lots of help (which has included being carried by hoomans!) but we’ll keep practising with her as she wants to be up there when Paul’s working from home. She is a very sweet little girl and seems to just want company, although doesn’t seem to get upset if left with the other dogs if we go out. She doesn’t look or act her age at all and would love company and a sofa and a toy or two. Please don’t overlook her because of her age. She deserves another forever home xx

Bobby went off to the vets for his Neutering operation this morning. He was a very good boy and loved the extra cuddles he received from Debbie! Xxx Ruth and I collected him this afternoon. He was very wobbly as he came out of the vets, but managed to eat his dinner when he got back to the kennels. Bobby is a really lovely, affectionate lad. Xxx

Hello everyone! Last couples days have been ever so exciting. Florence and Auntie Klaire are here! I went mental when they arrived! Last night we did bed swaps and tail wagging competitions. Today we have gone to TWO pet shops. Which was fun and had a walk around Arden hall. I follow Florence everywhere and check she is ok. I even gave her a kiss! Lubs Monty xx
