Agree with sirenmelody and shanishoo! I think the grey should have been number 1 of course lol but I was pleased the staffie won as they are a fabulous dog who often like our greys have a lot of misconceptions. They all deserve a chance xxx

Peggy's ashes have come back to the kennels this morning. We are going to scatter her on Saturday at 1.30pm so if you would like to join us in celebrating her short but beautiful life, you are welcome to. I have started a memory collection for her to pay for her cremation and if you would like to donate, please pop in to Daybreaks or you can make your donation via paypal at daybreaks2006@gmail.com. This goes directly into the Daybreaks Trust separate charity and any donations in excess of her cremation will go towards our new scales at the kennels. I lit a candle for her on Monday evening and this morning it was just about still flickering.... she was waiting to get 'home' to Daybreaks. Bless her x

A quiet day for visitors at the kennels today. It was so sad seeing an empty kennel where Peggy should have been. :(( Thank you so much to everyone for their support yesterday both at the kennels and on the website. You helped us all through a very tough day. Xxx James brought his Cocker Spaniel Sal in yesterday. We introduced her to some of our residents. Frankie was especially good with her. Xx Thanks so much to Norman for taking Buster to the park today. He had a great time. He has a viewing tomorrow....fingers crossed! I have just watched Britains Top 100 dogs on the TV...the Greyhound came in at number 40. They had a beautiful Greyhound on the show. There is also an article in this week's Radio Times by Jilly Cooper promoting Greyhounds as Pets. :)) All good publicity for them! It was great to see our lovely Vet from the the Pet Blood Bank featured in the programme. Must ask her for her autograph next time she comes to the kennels. :)) Xxx

If the prospective family of Peggy read this can I firstly, together with all other followers, offer our sincere condolences. You must be experiencing many different emotions at the moment. I think it is wonderful that you are going to visit Daybreaks again to meet some of the other wonderful residents. Whilst you will be under NO pressure to adopt, even if it is not immediately, please do not let Peggy's loss of a wonderful loving home be another's loss. Let it be Peggy's legacy, that she went on ahead to Rainbow Bridge so that another could enjoy your love and warmth. All the team work so hard to find good homes for these brilliant, intelligent and beautiful individuals. It would be so sad to lose you as well. Even if the time is too soon to choose another perhaps regular visits or even perhaps fostering if that is within Daybreaks rules (and I dont know what the rules are) could be considered. I am sure Peggy would be delighted to know that you are keeping your hearts open to the possibility of welcoming another into your home. A massive THANK YOU is in order.???? Seana, Melly & Teddy xxx

Buster was a joy to take to Brueton Park today. This gentle boy jumped in the car travelled well and walked sensibly on the lead. He met dogs of all breeds and sizes without any problems. A great lad.

So very sad that Peggy didn’t get her chance to enjoy a happy retirement. I feel sad for the family who had chosen her as all their happiness and excitement in planning for her joining their family has been suddenly and abruptly brought to an end. I’ve been following the arrivals and homings for many years and I recall a very small number of similar sad events but it doesn’t make it any easier to read when all our hopes and dreams for another beautiful greyhound are shattered in this way. Peggy definitely won’t be forgotten and of course the love goes on. Sleep tight beautiful girl, you were so close xxxx
