John & I had the greatest privilege to meet, snuggle & be constantly pawed by this most gorgeously, adorable & brave little girl last Monday when we popped in to Daybreaks. John had ‘that’ look in his eyes which I know to mean “if my pockets were big enough, she’d be sneaked in to them & be going home with us”... Alas, me being the villain I had to point out that we have 2 black beauties at home already who wouldn’t take kindly to having to share Mom & Dad’s bed with another stunning 4 paws! So, when I read on FB just a few days later how seriously ill Spritz had been, I was heartbroken. We all agree that her injury should never have been left to get into the state it was but this girl is a fighter and as Sirenmeoldy notes, Spritz has come through this traumatic experience for a reason and let’s hope she chooses a family who truly deserve her. John was at The Willows yesterday with our friends gorgeous greyhound and when he asked at the reception desk how Spritz was, quite rightly they wouldn’t give him any details, so I was left holding my breath until I read that she was back with her foster family. Spritz you beautiful girl, you get our biggest electronic hug today as all of those real ones we had with you last week just weren’t enough. XXXX

Oh my poor girl, we are gutted to hear what a horrendous time you have had. I didnt think I had any more tears to shed after crying so much in recent weeks but here I go again. There is no point in going over old ground, and what I would like to say could not be posted on here, but it just goes to show how what probably started as a tiny wound from catching it on brambles or whatever whilst out walking can turn so quickly into a large wound and then something life threatening if not treated PROPERLY IMMEDIATELY. We must all remember this. We are praying for you sweet girl. You have survived all of this for a reason and that will be hopefully to gain a warm, caring and loving home where you can flourish in retirement. We have made a small donation in the past week for you & Buddy and can only apologise it isnt more but before this crisis had given a good amount to Bez. I wish I could win the lottery & then there would be less of a problem!! Has anyone else noticed all the recent increases??? Parking in Mell Square has increased by 20p for the cheapest stay, my tin dog food has gone up 80p per 6 tins at Sainsburys & I have just had to pop into brum & the off peak ticket has gone up 30p. Goodness knows what joys await us after Brexit!! Anyway, keep taking the meds, plenty of nice food & rest and very grateful thanks to your foster family. 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks so much to everyone who has sent me get well wishes and cards. Unfortunately I am still not back at the kennels and awaiting more tests and investigations - it is so frustrating :-((((((( However with the open day this weekend there is some organising to do so if you are free Saturday for set up or Sunday to help, I would be very very grateful. Please give the kennels a call if you are free - I am hoping to be there - I need to tell Santa I have been a good girl (well - almost) if nothing else!!!!!! x

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Dave and I took Sky and Jetson off to the vets first thing this morning. Sky for her neutering operation and Jetson for the first part of his vaccination. They were both great in the car and after a brief look out of the window sat down and went to sleep. Poor Jetson's stomach was rumbling so loudly during his examination....he had to leave before breakfast! 🙂 Lucy and I collected Sky this afternoon, poor little Lass was a little wobbly. Hopefully she will feel much better tomorrow. Xx Brilliant news for Buddy, well done to his Foster family for failing again! :)) Womderful to hear Spritz has been allowed to leave the Willows. Do hope she will soon be well again. Xx Many thanks to Erica for her kind donation of sardines today and to Linda for the duvets, all very much appreciated. :)) Our colleagues from Greyhound Trust Hall Green popped over with four of their black Greyhounds this morning. They wanted to do a little cat testing. Socks and Tyke were the perfect hosts and we think one of their dogs maybe able to live with cats. They too have a problem with finding homes for their black Greyhounds and being cat friendly will give them a better chance of finding a home. 🙁 I just can't understand it, I am sitting on the edge of supposedly "our" sofa as there is a very large beautiful black Greyhound stretched out on it and another stretched out on the "dogs" sofa!! They are both gorgeous! Little black spotty girl Lyra is actually in a dog bed! :)) Thanks so much to everyone for their help today! Xx Xxx

Queenie's owners called today to let us know they had to say goodbye to their lovely girl yesterday. Although the conversation was very sad to begin with we ended up laughing at all the things she had got up to over the years and what a wonderful life she had with her family. They have some fantastic memories of her and believe she has caught up with Greyhound brother Ralph who went to Rainbow Bridge before her and is probably tormenting him as she did during their lives together! Thinking of you all. Xxx
