Totally agree with you lovehart.. When we first went to Daybreaks we were introduced to all the residents by Kate. Eventually we decided on Nifty because he was the longest stayer there at the time at 7 months. Nifty decided when he came home he was settling straight in & made himself at home. Nifty was one of the best decisions we ever made and since then we've had Cilla so Nifty can have a friend x

Thank you everyone xx PamD he had lymphoma or possibly a rare thing called Langerhans cell histiocytosis, we didn’t actually get a diagnosis but he had a lot of lumps on his skin and then in the last week was vomiting and lost lots of weight. Am glad he didn’t seem to suffer too much though and it was the right thing to do today xxxx

Loveheart, You totally are right. Our last two were overlooked and were miserable in kennels (mostly Max) we had seven awesome years with our Will and thank Ruth every day and do so still for making it possible for us to have him. Max is a different story and we work with him and continue to do so as he is a loving boy but with some issues, wouldn't change a thing !

Skip had the lump removed today. He was a brave boy and is home now and sleeping (or trying to with the soft collar!) He's been eating and drinking. We have to wait until next week for the results. We're going to stay optimistic and take everything one step at a time.

I have just checked the kennel cameras again and this little girl is cosied up and barely moved in an hour. She is so chilled and well behaved (so far). X

Back from Bude and see that although there has been a fabulous amount of Red and Green postings some of the longer residents are still waiting patiently watching all their kennel mates go off to their deserved forever homes. It reminded me that when we went to find a Grey (the first 2 and all following "adoptions ")we had one criteria "we will take whoever has been waiting the longest through no fault of their own, regardless of colour, boy, girl, or age" and you know what? we have had the best hounds ever. Two had been waiting for a Year! and we took both home with us.It may not work for everyone but it certainly did for us and they all lived their life out with us spoiled rotten. Fat Neck was Daybreaks longest stayer and just look at the "fun" he has given us. He had a lovely time in Bude as usual, only pulled the modesty net curtain down twice through getting his legs tangled up in them whilst displaying his bits to all and sundry in front of the patio window and nearly starved to death on the way home because he only had a light breakfast for an early start, and as soon as he got back took up position by the treat draw and spent the evening there (even after his meal) So come on guys don't miss out any longer there are a few to pick from at the moment. xxxx

A busy old day today! This morning we welcomed the beautiful Lecky to the kennels. She liked her warm bath but wasn't impressed with the drier bless her. Can't say I blame her as it is very noisy! However, she had no trouble polishing off her bowl of supper. Not many helpers today so the boys & girls had to make do with a spell in the sand run - and plenty of cuddles! As another weekend approaches let's hope for a continuation of the red sign epidemic!! We have a kennel full to bursting of beauties at the minute, each so deserving of a lovely sofa to call their own. Have a lovely weekend one and all, it's now wine time! Angie xx
