Lottie (Spotty)

female, 20 years old, Fawn

Added by Jess&Koda

Updated: Monday 08 Jan

This girl has been in a home for 5 years and sadly has been returned through no fault of her own due to a child in the family being allergic to her.

She is good with children and other dogs, her previous owners let her run off the lead and she is calm and docile. She is clean in the home and used to being left whilst the owners were working.

Lottie (Spotty) has had 0 cuddles today (36 all together).
If you register or login, you can give her a cuddle too!

Four years since you left us and we still have a hole in our lives. The anniversary is so close to the date we lost Mottee - only a week apart in the calendar. I hope you're both playing together now, but don't stand on his foot again! I miss you, princess.

Thank you so much everyone. I've lost other dogs over the years but I'm not sure I've ever cried so much at the vets before. Just shows how much these greys get into your heart and so quickly!

Ruth - thank you for allowing us to spend what remained of her life with us. If we knew in February what we know now we'd have still taken her on. No question, she was immensely special. She was perfect...racing just took its toll on her :(

Beryl - I'm so sorry to hear about Cara! I can't believe we lost them only a day apart :( I hope they're not annoying each other somewhere. Love to you.

So very sad to hear the news. We fostered this lovely girl for 2 weeks not long after we lost our beloved Agnes and would have adopted her ourselves if our old girl Cara hadn't taken exception to her. The sad irony is that we had to have Cara put to sleep yesterday - life can be such a bitch. Much love Becs, thank you for for loving and caring for Lottie. xxx

We're devastated to report that Lottie went to the Rainbow Bridge on Friday. Our lives will never be the same without her. RIP beautiful princess, we all miss you terribly xxx

Well Mottee adores her, she's clean in the house, completely ignores the cats (the cat in the photo has taken to playing with her tail when she wags it while lying down...I swear she's playing back), and is surprisingly great with the chickens (Mottee's only fault for his first week here was rushing the chickens in their coop). BUT...it turns out she's a menace to a SEALED packet with a fortune cookie in it if you leave the room for two seconds. It looks like she stood on it and then ripped the corner off. She hasn't eaten any of the packet so she's fine if a little annoyed at being busted mid theft :D

Myself and Mottee picked up Spotty (now Lottie thanks to a marvellous suggestion by Beryl) today. I didn't hear a peep from either of them on the journey home and they're getting on very well. Lottie's had a good sniff around, pilfered some of the cats' food, met one of the cats (Lottie did a double take and then decided there were too many exciting smells and things to explore to focus on one daft Persian) and is now crashed out on the rug in front of the fire. Taking up the entire rug I might add :p...Mottee is stood to one side, completely at her mercy. Photos to follow.

Coming to get you tomorrow, little girl...it's been a long week! I hope you enjoy spending the rest of your life in a home where pets outnumber people :) Nine is no age at all but I don't care whether we have you for six months or six years - no more moving around for you, and you'll be loved and cherished for your retirement x

Well the lovely georgous and perfect Spotty has had a nice time with the Healds and if lovely Beryl had not been waiting in the wings to take over we would have fostered her longer. Ive said it before and I will say it again.......this girl is just soooo loving and perfect in every way, she would have made an excellent P.A.T dog. Im sure some one will be along soon to snap her up as she has no bad points at all. :) xxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Roll up, roll up, who would like the perfect dog, because we are fostering her!!!!"
Spotty is just amazing, here are her good points; she is totally house trained, sleeps well through the night and wakes at 8am, shows no sign of food agression, waits her turn nicely for treats, is fine with other breeds, seems to ignore cats, walks beautifully on the lead and has the most amazingly loving nature you could ever wish for!
Her bad points; we havent found any!!! She is a very special girl, so if you are special enough to rehome her you better speak to Ruth quick as we dont think she will be around long!!!!

Well the beautiful Spotty has been packing her bags this morning as she is off on holiday to Wales today for a short break with one of our volunteers! She is back early next week and has a foster home lined up to go to if there is no offer of a permanent home :-)
She has been an absolute angel at our house - totally relaxed (despite Nora bouncing off her with her cone collar on numerous occasions), she sleeps all through the night and is totally house trained. Just gorgeous!

So good to hear Spotty is ok, she's had such a lot to cope with recently and yet she's still a happy girl.
Can somebody please give this gorgeous friendly girl a home, even a temporary one. She really shouldn't be in kennels after 5 years in a home and at the grand age she is. Pleeeeeeease????

Please don't let Spottys age put you off giving her a loving home. Our second grey, Betsy, was 9 years old when we adopted her and she gave us such wonderful times and memories, the "oldies" are always extra special, we said goodbye to our darling girl last year at the grand old age of 14 and a half. She gave us such love and Spotty will also give lots of love in her forever home, believe me if the Williams house wasn't ready to burst I would take her like a shot.

Oh, Ruth

I am so sorry to hear the news about Spotty and too about Davey and Nora.

I wish them all well in finding a new home soon, I wait every week for a big win on the lottery as if I did I could help more greyhounds.

I hope others will think about the oldies and that they still have a lot of love to give for the rest of their lives.

Wishing Spotty well for today.

If you prefer not to clean their teeth yourself you can get a pot of Neem Bark from the kennels to put in their food, it helps heal gum disease and softens plaque so you can rub it off - if you do use a brush you can dip that into the Bark and gently rub it directly onto their teeth :) We've had some great results with it and I give it my dogs daily to keep their teeth sparkly :) Julie

Such a sad day that poor Spotty has ahead of her - she is off to the vets to have the majority of her teeth out as she was returned in a very sorry state. I am hoping the op goes well and I am sure she will feel a million times better once she is better. I love this girl - she just lays there wagging her tail in the kennel when you pass by and say hello. My heart is broken for her that she has to be in kennels after so many years in a home. Good luck Spotty for today xxxxx

I have to echo Tinabina's comments. Spotty has such soulful eyes and is such a gorgeous girl, she must have been wondering what was going on today and why she was back in kennels. However she was so loving, lapped up fuss, cuddles and kisses and rewarded us with a super waggy tail ! Good luck beautiful - I would love to come and have more cuddles next weekend but I hope I miss out because you will have your forever sofa by then x

This girl is absolutely gorgeous. She doesn't at all seem her age and enjoyed all the fuss that was bestowed on her. Spotty wasn't anxious at being around 'strangers' at all and was happily wagging her tail when spoken to and taken for walkies.
Her previous owners said she got on well with a Jack Russell in the family and has been in a home with two children aged 5 and 2 who have sadly developed allergies to dogs.
It was so hard to leave this gorgeous girl in a kennel over night when she's been used to the comfort of a home environment for the last 5 years.
Good luck Spotty, I hope NOT to see you in the kennels next weekend. Xxxx

Spotty has arrived at the kennels and her photos will be on soon. I desperately hope she can find a home soon after being in a home for so long. Her teeth need attention so I will take her to the vets tomorrow.

Grateful thanks to Tina and all the volunteers who are covering the kennels today while I am at home with really rotton asthma :-((((
