Homing Procedure

Homing a Greyhound from Daybreaks Trust in Solihull

By now, you have hopefully fallen in love with at least one of the dogs on the right, and are ready to take the next step. 'But what do I do next?' I hear you ask. Below is a step by step guide to homing a greyhound from Daybreaks Trust in Solihull.

(If you'd just like to talk to our volunteers first about owning a greyhound, please come along and visit us at one of our roadshows on the left.)

Step One -

Contact us on ( 0121 782 7702) and you can arrange a time to come to the kennels and view the dogs that are available for homing.

Step Two -

When you have chosen a dog we will take your details and one of our volunteers will call you within a couple of days to arrange a suitable time to do a home visit.

The home visit is a chance for you to ask any questions you may have about homing a greyhound . At the home visit you will be asked to answer a preset questionnaire about you and your home. Don't worry, we are not after your bank details and the family silver hiding place! - we just ask questions to ensure the dog will be going into a home where all the required Retired Greyhound Trust criteria are met, for instance if you are a single person living on the fifteenth floor of a block of flats in Birmingham city centre working twelve hour shifts, seven days a week, then maybe a dog is not for you! Obviously this is a ridiculous scenario but you get the gist of why the questions are needed.

Step Three -

If you have satisfied the requirements -it's all systems go! all the relevant paperwork can be filled in and you can take your new companion home with you.

So, as you can see it's as easy as One, Two, Three. (Hmmm don't know about that last bit it sounds a little corny)

Now here's the good news, all greyhounds homed by Daybreaks Trust  come with four weeks' free pet insurance from Pet Plan, a collar , lead, muzzle, are microchipped and are fully vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and neutered.

We also have greyhound coats, bowls and other items available for sale - all profit goes directly back to the Trust.

If you have any other questions you might need answering please feel free to e-mail us or alternatively give us a call. All contact details are on our contact page.

Please Note :- We do ask for a non refundable £25 reservation fee when a dog is chosen and we can unfortunately only reserve a dog for a maximum of 2 weeks .

Payments for adoption and merchandise can be accepted by cash, cheque or credit card.  The reservation fee is not refundable or transferable.  We then ask for a donation of £150 to adopt a grey, Unfortunately we are not able to offer a refund in the unfortunate event of returning a dog once homed.
