So very sorry that you have lost your lovely lad. I know how hard it is when they have to leave us but you obviously loved him so very much. Be proud of the life you gave him and hang on tightly to the memories of happy times. Run free Alfie without pain and with all our old friends xx

I am so sorry for you. It’s such a painful loss. When Keano died last year I could not tell anyone because I couldn’t get the words out. One of my dear sons, who were both with me and Keano throughout, rang Kate to let her know and she was so kind. You are in my thoughts and prayers, love from Carol xx

So very very sorry for your loss. Such a terrible disease, I know I lost one of my boys last year. Don't we just love their characters stubborn or otherwise, all so very different. Alfie, run free, run fast, meet with all of our hounds who have crossed the bridge and let them know we think of them every day, and I am sure you will be looking down on those who loved you so very much. God speed beautiful Angel. Xxxx

I am so very sad to hear you have lost Alfie. He was one of the loveliest Greyhounds I have had the pleasure to meet and so very handsome. Thinking of you all, God Bless your best friend. Kate Xxx

I have only just been able to bring myself to let you know that we lost our best buddy and friend a couple of weeks ago, he was suffering from bone cancer and deteriorated very rapidly. He was the most handsome and laid back boy, always wanting to please you, enjoyed his walks and showed off when he met other dogs whether large or small, especially with the girls. He was a great character, a little stubborn when he wanted to be but we loved him dearly as he gave us lots of laughter, smiles and love. We have some great memories but things are certainly very different here. We miss him immensely.
Run free handsome boy, you are now free from all the pain.
Xxx

Have spent the day with the lovely Alfie & his Mummy & Daddy at the Malvern Show.
Well, not only is he a handsome boy in superb condition, he is such a good boy! He was totally chilled & laid on his bed quietly enjoying fusses from people. What a GREYT boy!
You are very lucky to have got such a beautiful boy.....and he is too, to have found a fabulous home.
Was lovely to meet you! Bob, Orla & Mum xx

We are Alfie's home checkers from his first homing. He is adorable and we both would have liked to adopt him. We both said that if we had been looking for another grey just now we would have snapped him up. In fact Margaret was thinking about when he became reserved. Good luvk with your gorgeous boy. One of our first grey's sounds just like your Alfie, which we had for numerous years until our loss. But forgetting that, we now have 4 of the lovely hounds and what pleasure they give, but all of different nature. You may soon join the FFP club.
Anyway love to you for taking on lovely Alfie. Sylv xxxx

We are Alfies new owners, he's doing really well and settling in just nice. He is not at all interested in our cat, even though she wants to give him a nudge.
He is lying beside me as I type, fast asleep and not a care in the world.
He is a great walker on his lead and will keep us fit that's for sure.
He doesn't pester when we are eating but enjoys his food when it's his meal time.
He's a bit of a baby if we leave the room (aren't they all) but he'll soon realise we have not abandoned him.

Alfie is absolutely GORGEOUS. He is so sweet and gentle and walks beautifully on his lead. So sad he has been returned, but super news that he is already reserved and won't be in the kennels too long. He is in wonderful condition and has obviously been a much loved pet. Be happy in your new home Alfie. I'm sure your new owners will love you too. xxxx

So sorry for Alfie. l dont' know the reason why he was returned, but l am going to be a little bit outspoken here. We all know that their will always be dogs returned, sometimes, for very genuine reasons, but it feels like some people just jump on the bandwagon when they see dogs being returned. lf you are going to rehome a greyhound, then it is an honour and a privilege to take one of these wonderful dogs into your lives. Please don't look upon them as disposable items. That said, it is far preferable that they be returned, rather than stay in a home where they are not loved and valued for the beautiful companions that they are.l am not saying that this was the case with Alfie...l don't like to judge people without knowing the circumstances, but please think long and hard before adopting a dog, as they are a big commitment, and you will certainly have to change certain aspects of your lifestyle and routine. l realise that l am preaching to the converted here, but l find it really heart braking to see dogs treated this way. Everyone at kennels work their butts off to find loving homes for these gorgeous hounds, so please think very carefully before making that decision and be prepared to give 100% commitment , patience and understanding....and they will repay you a million times over. l do not have an agenda here...l just want to see loving homes for these greys, with families who will love and cherish them. Sorry if l am not very subtle, or PC, but l would hope that l speak on behalf of all greyhound lovers, and in fact, all animal lovers. Please understand the responsibility that you are undertaking. Rant over...thank you for bearing with me.

Sadly Alfie has been returned to the kennels after being homed in May 2013. This is through no fault of his own. He is totally cat friendly, gentle on the lead and fabulous with children. We hope we can find him a new home asap.....
