Oh Dave58, I have an admission to make ... my hubby knows how much I love your Den boy and he stole him today ! He came to see me at work and I was over the moon cos I didn't think I would get to see him and munch him before you take him home on Saturday - many and much munchins ensued and everyone at work loved him too ! I am relying on you to munch him every day for me, this will not be too difficult as I am sure he will be loved and cuddled LOADS when he is home with you x I hope we can catch up on a walk or something but if not, keep us updated on how fantastic his new life will be with you guys xx

I had the pleasure of walking Den and helping the kennels yesterday. What an absolute please he was to be with. Caring looks for other dogs ... wanting to be alongside, not tugging away ... as for feeding time, I hope you have high ceilings :))) ... such a star, enjoy your day of collecting him and the time you'll have together.

Trellis is up and spikey plant and water feature are out and filled! He has his bed, treats, food and water bowl and stand waiting for him!

Zeus is still making good progress although the big puncture wounds are slow to heal he is back at the vets on Wednesday. Max went for his second injections on Friday, the vets thought he was lovely. Housetraining no problem, pinching off work surfaces not so good, still he is getting better, he seems to be a happy lad and he has put on weight.

Den really is a very affectionate, happy boy. We love to see him "bounce" when it is dinner time! Xxx

Good news Zeus is now eating on his own. He went to the vets yesterday and the vet is pleased with his progress, he has to go back next week, he still has his stitches and the big puncture wounds seem to be taking ages to start to heal, but he is on the mend that's the important thing.

Great news to to hear Zeus has been able to come home. Hope he will soon be able to eat properly. Xxx

Zeus came out of hospital last night. We are having to feed him by hand or through a syringe at the moment, but trying to tempt him with all sorts of things, ice cream seems to work but unfortunately it doesn't feed him. Zeus sends thanks to all who wished him a speedy recovery. Will keep you posted on his progress.

What a shame, its always dreadful when there are accidents and our dogs are hurt- hopefully Zeus is recovering well in hospital.
The problem is that rarely are attacks unprovoked - its just that we may not see what caused it and/or the provocation may have been so quick that you/we missed it. My lurcher would attack other dogs so he was always on a lead - I watched for his signals and I was sure he didn't give a warning just piled in :( Then I realised that his signals escalated so fast that they were over in a blink, now he's lots better and even gives a warning growl. Greys can get very excited by lots of things .. usually things moving - that's why they are muzzled when they race ...lots of adrenalin, lots of dogs close together and all it needs is one to bump another and that dog takes exception to being shoved and suddenly you could have a fight and we all know how delicate greyhound skin is :( My greyhound gets very excited when she sees a cat and has bitten me and my lurcher in her excitement ... she doesn't mean to it's just that she's completely beside herself so I used to muzzle her when we did our road walk. I never run my grey and lurcher together either cos without the focus of chasing something they may just decide each other are chaseable - no malice in it - just their instincts .. plus I'm fed up of them crashing into each other and having to go to the chiropractor to be fixed :(
I think you did exactly the right thing bringing Den back,I hope Zeus is home soon and back to his old self. Regards Julie

This must have been very frightening for you, wonder whatever caused it. I understand your decision in returning Den, could not have been an easy one to make but you would always be on tender hooks and never really be at ease with the situation again (that's how I would feel). Den will find a suitable home I am sure, he's such a lovely dog. I hope that Zeus makes a speedy recovery.

Zeus is still in hospital, we have visited him today, he is still not eating but is on a drip. With regard to Den we had him for seven weeks and during that time all seemed to be going well, which doesn't account for the unprovoked vicious attack on Zeus. On a lighter note Max has put on a bit of weight so he's not so ribby.

Can I echo the comments made by Takeaflight regarding Den.
Having been with him at close quarters on our Stratford Roadshows while he was being fostered by Caroline I can say his behaviour was always impeccable with the greys he was frequently at close quarters with. He loved meeting people, no problems with children and while at Pets at Home showed no bad reaction to other breeds he met. He certainly deserves to find a loving permanent home.

I love Den, Caroline said that he was the perfect house guest !!! Like us humans dogs do not all get on with one another, den had so many races and was raced until he was 7 it is a massive change for him and he is probably used to being a leader and has been in the same routine for a long time???? It is so unfortunate for everyone but as I said like humans all dogs do not get on with each other, it Doesn't mean to say that living with another grey is out, perhaps he just needs a sister or a submissive male , who knows but when I have met Den at the kennels I just fell in love with him, he was so loving, affectionate and funny I just hope that someone gives him a chance as I know he would be my choice if I were looking for another!!! You get my cuddle today Den!! I have dens litter brother and my sister in law has another of dens litter brothers they are both fabulous dogs and so we are all routing for you Den xx

Sadly Den has been returned today. Unfortunately he had a serious altercation with one of the owners other dogs. Den's owner is very upset to have to return him but feels it is the right thing to do for all concerned.

i am really sad to have to say Den is going back to the kennels on friday, just so he will have a chance to find his forever home. he has been a perfect gentleman, my little girl Gracie will miss him, they loved to play together. i can honestly say i have enjoyed every min he has been with me. hes loveing, gentle, funny walks really well on the lead, fine with other breeds, as iv said before what else can he do to find his loveing home. good luck hope you find a home very soon.Den you will be missed xxxxxxxxx

We heard a whimper coming from one if the kennels today and it turned out to be Den. I went to see him and was chatting to him through the kennel. He starting making noises back. I went in and he tried to get on my lap. I tried to explain he is a bit big for a lap dog but he didn't listen and cuddled right up to me (half on me). If I stopped fussing him he put his paw on me for more fuss. Den is amazing and loves a cuddle. I think his a bit lonely and missing his kennel mate. We moved him to a kennel where he could see more of what was going on and he seemed a bit more settled. He would really benefit from a home soon. I have a huge soft spot for this boy, he has such a brilliant personality. Good luck in your search for a forever home Den. X

Took Den to Elmdon park yesterday, he was such a good lad, he took everything in his stride. He seems a smashing laid back kinda guy and loves his cuddles too. He meet several dogs of different sizes and was fine with them, just really interested in everything . So if your looking for a very adaptable, loving lad Den is the grey for you!!!! We took twinkle to the walk at Stratford today, where we met Den again(having walked him with Twinkle yesterday). What can we say, he was such a well behaved lad, my daughter who walked him fell in love and tried all of the emotional, soul searching, heart tugging blackmail techniques to get us to have him. Had we not fostered Twinkle less than 24 hours earlier she may well have had less resistance. For a big lad he behaved so well, not pulling on the lead, interacting well with the other breeds and lapping up all the fuss and attention he got at the cafe after the walk. This chap is a real star and a true gent.

Oh Den sweetheart...what a gorgeous boy you are!
Den was so well behaved on the walk at Stratford today. There were lots of Greys (over 30 I think) and some other breeds and he was very friendly towards them all.
We met quite a few other dogs on the walk, some big, some small and some off lead...Den wasn't bothered by seeing any of them.

We stopped off at the café after the walk and Den managed to attract quite a bit of attention from other people around including children - again he was so chilled. He does seem to be a bit of a cuddle monster though!

Whoever chooses this boy - or gets chosen by him - will be very lucky to get such a lovely boy!

Den went on the Stratford walk today where he met 30 other greyhounds. He travelled beautifully in the car and enjoyed the walk along the River Avon where he met other breeds of dogs with which he behaved perfectly. He was also a very relaxed walker on the lead. He enjoyed the rest afterwards at the cafe where he met small children and was a perfect gentleman towards them.

I am sure this lad will make someone a perfect companion when he eventually finds his future home.

Saw Den today and what a beautiful boy... He really is loveable and cuddly and really needs his forever home. We really liked you but thought you may need someone who doesnt work or only does half days. :-(

I have such a soft spot for this gorgeous feller! He is such a happy, friendly chap who loves to be out on a walk. He is very good on the lead and just turned his head to have a look at the barking labs at the farm today, then walked on by with no reaction. Really hope his finds his own forever sofa soon.
