Joker

male, 21 years old, Black

Added by DaybreaksRuth

Updated: Monday 01 Jan

Joe was homed a year ago. His owners have decided to emigrate next year and feel it is in his best interest that he is homed sooner rather than later. He is cat friendly.

Brook and Joker are arriving on the 21st August and we are anxious to rehome them as quickly as possible.

Joker has had 0 cuddles today (24 all together).
If you register or login, you can give him a cuddle too!

Our thoughts are with you at this sad time - try to remember how you gave him a happy life to the end.
Run free Joker as you go over the bridge....

It is with such sad news that I have been told of the passing of Joker. I am sure you are running free with your previous greyhound companion Brook who left for the bridge also a couple of weeks ago - the same time as you. Run free beautiful x

Thanks, marbury, for your good wishes for Brook, which I am pleased to reciprocate for Joker. Brook has not shown signs of stress or unhappiness with us, but was quite reserved during his first few days here, whereas it sounds as though Joker just "moved in" and felt completely at home from the beginning, so a big "well done" to you!

I am so pleased that Joker has settled in well with his new family. I knew he would as he is such a big softie. Thank you for giving him a new home. There is a big whole in our lives but this has been made easier by the quick re-homing for both Joker and Brook. Thank you to Ruth for sorting this out so promptly. We miss them loads and will always love them, but we know that are being loved elsewhere too. Thank you again.

Hi Ian - I won't be at Daybreaks today as I have a mountain of paperwork to attack and 2 vet runs to do. Zoe is helping today so she can do your paperwork, however I am in all weekend if you want me to attack Joker's teeth for you. Just let me know x

Well we're now on day 5 with Joker, and are definitely giving him a permanent home. He has settled in so well with all the animals - absolutely no trouble at all. He loves to spend time asleep on the sofa with his legs in the air! He really is such a big softie - particularly when the kittens are leaping around everywhere! We have been SO lucky to find him and have the opportunity to give him a home.

Thanks Marbury for your understanding and for taking on my big boy Joker. He is such a cuddly boy and likes company. He was off the lead with no muzzle within 1 hour of us taking him home and have never had any problems with him and the cats. Thank you for the offer of taking my cats, will talk to my husband and let you know as unsure if we could manage to bring them all up to the kennels at once. Am so pleased Joker will have more brothers and sisters to play with. He maybe big but he is such a softie and has such nice nature. Thanks again.

We have reserved Joker and hope that we can give him a loving home alongside our 4 existing greys (all ex Hall Green dogs - 1 male, 3 girls!), plus two cats, two kittens, two micro pigs, three rabbits and two chinchillas!!! All our Greys have accepted all of the small animals with no problems at all - we appreciate how hard it must have been to have given up both the dogs and cats due to emigrating - and do hope that people will also be understanding rather than critical. If you are looking for a good home for the cats - leave a message here, We are away until 15th August.

Just to put the record straight we are broken hearted that we have to give up our dogs (and cats) and last year when we took Joker home we didn't know we would have the opportunity to migrate. So it is sad all round. But we have to think about the dogs welfare, not ours, and put them first which is what we are doing. So please don't judge us so harshly. We have thought long and hard about our decision and feel it is in the best interests for both Joker and Brook (and our cats) to be re-homed in the UK. If you think it is an easy decision to make then you are wrong. We will never stop loving them. So we would ask that you don't judge people when you don't even know them or the circumstances. We hope that the love we have shown towards our dogs will benefit whoever takes them on in the future.

this makes me so sad, he was only homed last year and surely if someone is planning to emigrate then they would either not get a dog just before or take them with them...still i guess we all think differently unfortunately the dogs end up with a broken heart.

Joker has now been with us just over a week with no major problems and Brook only having to bark at him a few times to put him in his place - usually when Joker has woken him up. After a visit to the vets on Wednesday he is on antibiotics for a (old) cut in his mouth, so another visit to the vets this Wednesday when I hope we will see an improvement. The only problem really was getting Joker back out of the car as he was so comfortable and was happy just going to sleep! Brook has certainly livened up since having a new brother and plays a lot more in the garden now barking at Joker if he doesn't join in. No problems with the cats either, they have just accepted him and he them. He is such a good natured boy, although will need to work on his manners a bit as he thinks nothing of walking straight across the bed while we are still in it! xxxxxxxx

Joe (now called Joker) is doing fantastically well both with his new brother Brook and his two sister cats. He is a very gentle boy and walks well on the lead, is very clean and loves loads of cuddles. He has settled in extremely well and is like a big cuddly teddy bear. Have our first trip to the vets on Wednesday for an initial healthcheck, so am hoping all goes well. He is a lovely addition to our family. xxxxx

We are all so excited about meeting Joe on Saturday 4th and if all well taking him home. Brook is looking forward to meeting his new brother and can't wait to show him the new big garden where Brook has learnt to play fetch (well he brings the ball back most of the time!). His new cat sisters, Blossom and Ebony have promised to be good!
