Hi Jema, Silky is absolutely brilliant at home, just gets stressed out in kennels. If you want ro meet up you are more than welcome to come over or I could bring her to Daybreak to meet you. She will stay with us until she is rehomed, but if you want her we can keep her until you are ready! I work full time at the hospital too, and she is fine for up to 7hrs, happy to chat xx

Is Silky still up for rehoming? I've had my heart set on her for a while now :) not able to re home till August though :( is she quite laid back and able to me left alone for a few hours? I work full time but as a nurse only three out of seven days. She seems adorable and hopefully would have a wonderful retirement with me and my partner :) also have fallen in love with Liam.......decisions!!!! Xxx

Hello everyone Silky here....I just wanted to let everyone know how I am and to Mae sure you don't forget me!! I'm being a very good girl, I walk really well on my lead now, no pulling (well maybe a little, in the frst few minutes as I'm so excited to be out on my walkies!!) I am really good meeting other dogs now and only a little grumble at them as I go past (just so's they know that greyhounds are the best:-)). I am loving being here in my foster home with Queenie, except I keep trying to lie next to her but she gets up in a huff:-(. Anyway I really do want my own forever home so please cone and say hello soon xxx licks Silky x

Hi Jema. Great to see you are thinking of rehoming one of the lovely greys. We lost our first girl, tia, about 5 weeks ago and now have adopted Milly. They are great pets so gentle and loving. It will be great for you to have some time for bonding. Most settle really quickly with a bit of love and patience. Can't wait to hear who you choose - do you think it will be silky? Xx

Hiya

Thank you for your reply. I have been reading up a lot just
lately on Greys on tips, their nature and likes and dislikes so I hope all this will help me settle a girl/boy into their
forever home. I will be booking time off work to spend time with them to settle in at first and mainly work nights as a nurse so they won't be left alone much. My partner is a teacher so the plan will be rehome a lovely greyhound at the start of the six weeks so we can give our undived attention whilst off work. I am very excited to come and meet the lovely greys and find our forever friend xxx

Jema, we waited until we had AL too and felt it was the right thing for all. Jack got used to us and bonded quickly and we were able to build up the time on his own gradually. Also helps with house training too. The dog you least expect to will most likely be the one to steal your heart xx

Jema I have just read your post on the site yes you are right there are lots of greys to choose we have a little black girl and we didant know anything about greys but daybreak will give you all the help you need they are such great animals to have I was very surprised the way they settle it will take time but it's a reward when they come to you with lots of licks and all they ask for is your love hugs and plenty of cuddles a play in the garden and nice walks that's all they ask of you the only thing is please give them time to settle down this can take time but you will be rewarded good luck to you tinkers nanna xxxx

What a lovely dog Silky is, she is really doing well now. No crying and settles well at night, only cries to get everyone up around 6.30am! She is clean in the house with no problem overnight either. She went to visit a friends cockerpoo yesterday with Queenie, Silky was ok with him but a little keener when he ran up the garden, I think with some training she would do well with a smaller dog.

Silky is with us on short term foster to recover from her spey. She is relaxed and happy after 2 days convalescence! Is very friendly with people & dogs we meet when out walking, have only heard her bark at the big fat pigeon on the garden and her own reflection :-) She is settling well at night with no crying and gets on brilliantly with Queenie x
