I was very sad today to hear about big Charlie. Heaven has gained one very big and special star far too early. I have very fond memories of Charlie my first favourite hound. I still have the photo's of our lovely walk at Stratford nearly 4 years ago now,how the time flies. Through Charlie I became a regular Daybreaks visitor to see him and later we adopted Paddy. He was a true gentle giant in every way and will be sadly missed but never forgotten. RIP big lad,so sad you have crossed rainbow bridge far too soon xx

Charlie and Daisy have gone to a wonderful home in Spain to live with Jane and Stuart who used to be on the committee and very active members of Perry Barr Retired Greyhound Trust. They emigrated to Spain a few years ago and have a home near a golf course where Stuart is a golf pro. Nothing will be to much trouble for this pair they will have the best of everything. Please don't worry. Pam

Hi Melodysmum - Charlie and Daisy were chosen by close friends of mine who used to live in the UK. Their previous greys who are sadly at Rainbow Bridge now were from Daybreaks and they wanted to adopt again from us. They are regular visitors to the UK so came up to the kennels several times before choosing their fabulous new 4 legged family x
Friday 12 Dec 13:58
I had the privelage of taking Charlie for his last walkies from Daybreaks and what a perfect gentleman he is. aI also had a good nose around his luxury transport for his journey to Spain and I'm sure he and Daisy are going to have a nice restful trip. I'm sure its going to be much warmer for them both at their new home and I wish them both many happy times in their new lives. Adios amigos!! XXX
Friday 12 Dec 13:30
Can I be so bold as to ask how Charlie and Daisy came to be chosen? Are their new family originally from England or supporters of British Greyhound racing? It's just with all the rescued Galgo's in Spain I'm curious as to why they chose hounds from here... That said I'm over the moon for the two beauties who are going to have a wonderful retirement I'm sure! And a quick 'hats off' to those who make it happen (well jell of the swanky van lol) Xx
Friday 12 Dec 00:35
Safe journey Charlie and Daisy. Wishing you both so much happiness in your new home in Spain. Xx

Dear Dr Muddypaws, your observations of my condition are indeed correct.I must confess to being addicted to large black hounds.I recently discussed this addiction with my doctor and he has encouraged me to continue to help daybreaks as much as possible.Since losing our big black boy in August I have been a bit lost so meeting Charlie helped a lot.In return we hoped his day release would help him to find his forever home.Whilst I am able to admit my problem Pam is in denial at the moment and is in need of further exposure to Charlie. With this in mind I hope Nurse Boswell and Sister Kate will allow us to take this boy out again and with luck it might lead to something more! Yours sincerely Alan & Pam
Thursday 23 Oct 17:02
Oh dear...dear...dear Alan & Pam....what have we here !!! It has come to my attention that you have been whisking this lad off to far flung places, and plying him with sausages and cheap ice cream!!!!!!! SHAME ON YOU BOTH !!!!!!! You...you...gigolos you!!! Don't you realise that no good can come of this illicit affair. Toying with his emotions like this can only end in heartbreak !!! l recommend that you do the decent thing, and make an honest boy of him as soon as possible. Secret, clandestine meetings are not the way to go.....you always get caught out in the end !!! I'm sure Nurse Boswell or Sister Kate would be more than happy to perform the ceremony of the signing of the adoption form. l also notice that you still hav'nt admitted your addiction publicly...tut...tut. At least the kinky wellie brigade have have confided in me that they do have a serious problem...although I'm not sure if they were talking about greyhounds...or their rubber fetish ??? Oh well, it takes all sorts to make a world.
l expect to see Charlie boys sign go green very, very soon. Yours Sincerely...Dr Muddypaws.

Hi Charlie here. I had a wonderful time out today with my friends Alan,Pam and Ele at Stratford walk.It was great to be able to take in all the new sights and sounds walking with my friends. We met some funny non greyhound dogs too but I wasn't interested in them.I heard many people say what a beautiful big boy I was, well there's no arguing with that.Alan and Pam said i'd make a great pet for someone and be the talk of the neighbourhood, maybe that could be you! hope to meet you soon, time for a snooze now dreaming of sausages.Bye for now Charlie x
