I met Tommo this evening. He is such a lovely gentle boy, a little wobbly, but very friendly and made me laugh pushing and pulling his duvet around to try and get it in just the perfect position- which didn't happen! I put it right for him and he walked away! A lovely boy xxx

What a lovely older chap! It was very sad to have to go and pick Tommo up today. He looks a lot like Bobby...a distinguished gentleman. His owner says he loves to go for a walk and he loves his food. :) Fingers crossed he will find a home he can spend his time enjoying a leisurely life with lots of love and affection. Xxx

Very sadly Kate and I have just been out to pick up Tommo. His owner is awaiting an operation so hasn't been able to walk him and is also no longer able to afford to keep him. He is 11 years old - a bit creaky on his legs, his eyes aren't brilliant and he is even greyer that he was 5 years ago!
If there anybody who could find it in their hearts to offer him a home for his twilight years? Ruth x

Tommo was fab in the kitchen today with alisons blue. He stood guard overthe peanut butter sandwiches and kindly helped me eat my lunch.... As I sit in the office typing this, I can see Tommo through the window all snuggled up in his coat & blanket and curled up in his donut bed in the kitchen run just watching the world go by. LadyVictoria you are so right, I made him a beautiful bed this morning, smooth blankets and corners all tucked in - only for him to pop in behind me - take one look at it and promptly rearrange everything so it looks like a bundle of old rags!!! Got to love this cheeky, gorgeous boy. xxxxx

If you are looking for a Greyhound who will help with the housework, Tommo is the boy for you! Bed making is his speciality....but it has to be to his own specification which is basically the messier the better! Hope someone will give him the chance to show them how special he is. Xxx

So agree with you Shanesmum. Tommo is a great boy.he is very, very helpful with bedding rearrangement and has a very quizzical expression on his face as he watches everything going on.

Tommo is definitely my number 1 boy at the moment! I love the way he sits watching the world go by, with his head cocked on one side and the most adorable expression on his face. And he is so helpful when it comes to rearranging blankets and bedding!! He gives lovely kisses and loves a fuss. Tommo mate, it must be your turn soon. Big cuddles. xxxx

We had the pleasure of hosting Tommo again today to give him a few hours away in the 'real world'. He really is the most gorgeous lad and travelled well in the car both from and back to Daybreaks. We joined him and Rosie (our grey) for 2 good walks, during each he walked and behaved well; responding to "leave Tommo" when seeing two smaller dogs on the opposite pavement and also "wait" when we had to cross the road. He was so relaxed after a light lunch that he promptly jumped onto the sofa and went to sleep, although at one point he heard our neighbours speaking (rather too loudly) over the fence, so he dashed into the garden and stood staring at the garage door convinced we were hiding little people in there! I had to open the door to show him it only contains the usual junk that really should have been thrown out years ago!! He did have a couple of wees inside today despite the back door being left open and him knowing how to get out to have a tinkle, but with consistency in the same home we are sure he'll get out of this habit. Despite thinking we'd hidden them well under towelling in a box, Tommo managed to find a couple of Rosie's cuddly toys which she was okay with him having but he wasn't okay with giving up. We think the world of this fella as he has such character (very laid back) and during today's stay at ours started to respond to his name, which shows what a quick learner he is. We know from just these fews hours with him, that whoever Tommo choses to adopt as his forever family WILL have the most loving, intelligent and beautiful greyhound. It was bad planning on our part when during our 1st stressful journey with Tommo & our grey Rosie last week, we regretfully took him back to Daybreaks only 2 hours after leaving with him. However, we didn't want to give up on this most adorable fella and today, we returned (minus Rosie) to collect Tommo and bring him home for a few hours to see how they got on and also give him a feel of home-life. He travelled so well in the car with 'dad for the day' John and on meeting Rosie in her home, the two of them got on from the word go. Okay, they'd met up at Daybreaks last week, but this time it was on Rosie's 'turf' so we were apprehensive. Clearly, there was no need to have been as they bonded well during the few short hours together. They both enjoyed their morning walk (so many different smells, sights, other dogs for Tommo), meandered around the garden together, ate lunch at the same time quite happily with no growling, followed by tasty yoghurt for pud! Then to top it all, they snuggled up on Rosie's sofa for an hour to snooze after their meal. Tommo has not been homed before but his manners were impeccable and he relaxed as soon as he came through the door. He has a couple of sores on his rear end which Kate treated with aloe vera before we left Daybreaks and his bare bottom needs fur to grow back, but with time, a loving home and plenty of TLC, this will happen. He really is THE MOST ADORABLE, gentle, quick learning lad and (if he's not been snapped up before), we're returning to Daybreaks on Sunday morning to give him another taste of home-life and walks around our area. Thank you Tommo for being such a wonderful guest today and for the many, many cuddles you so willingly gave us. Until Sunday lovely man, T, J & R xxx

Love the oldies. Too bad we are 'full up' and greys are mostly just too impractical for our environment. More people should adopt an oldie - they really are the best pets and so little trouble

Tommo has again today been out in Brueton Park. He really does now understand that the four legged furry things he sees walking by on leads are just dogs like him and as long as they are not right in his face he has no problems with them whatsoever.
He does seem to wish he could join in the fun when he sees dogs running off the lead but conveys this only by his 'pointy' ears and curiousity. There is no silly barking or leaping around.
He really is a pleasure to take out as whoever eventually homes this loving lad will discover.

Hi Tommo, how lucky were we earlier today when you arrived back from your trip to Brueton Park with 'Uncle Norman' then quite happily spent time with us and our little Rosie (just to see how you'd get on together). Hi Everyone-- Tommo here.
I've been out today to that lovely Brueton Park. Its the second time I've been now and I'm getting quite used to everything that happens in parks- ducks, swans, children on bikes and scooters and of course furry things with 4 legs(big and small) so now I dont bother to bark at all these different things and just take them all in my stride. One very small fluffy furry came right up to my face today so I looked at him for a few seconds and dix give him a little nod to say thatsenough of that but because I always wear my muzzle I cant hurt him.
If you look at my photo you'll probably see I've gone a it grey around my nose so I'm probably not as attractive as some of those cute little girls or brindle or blue boys.
I'll tell you what I am though. I'm a real fusspot who loves to cuddle up to anyone who wants to give me a bit of fuss and I love all those other greys around me and could live without any problems with any number of them.
I keep hearing everyone saying Happy New Year to each other.
Although its fabulous here at Daybreaks kennels I know my idea of a Happy New Year would be to live with a family of my own where I can share all the love and affection I have in me with them.
Perhaps if I'm lucky that will happen when that New Year starts.

When we visited kennels just before Xmas, Kate brought Tommo into the office, because he was being a naughty boy in his kennel.
There was some boxes on the floor containing pigs ears, doggie treats and cuddly toys. Well...he didn't know which box to climb into first...and was determined to bag himself a cuddly toy to take back to his kennel !!! He is such a lovely boy and a real character. He gets a look of sheer amazement on his little face at each new experience. He is going to make a super companion and is going to have so much fun exploring the big, wide, world !!! Luv him to bits. XXX

Well his big eyes last night as we were closing up the kennels were asking 'can I come home with you?' - so - Tommo has been at our house overnight and what an amazing house guest he has been! He learns quickly and slept all night on the window seat with ours downstairs without a sound. No accidents either and he has been toileting outside and playing with the toys. He is a beautiful boy and I really hope he can find a wonderful home soon as he is so affectionate and loves his fuss. xxxx

Tommo spent the day in the kitchen with me yesterday - I adore him! He is a totally different personality to the dog that is in a kennel. He listens if you say 'no' (ie feet on the counter), played happily with the green feeder and then curled up in a moses basket!!!

He LOVES cuddles and fuss and happily shared the kitchen in the afternoon with Louis (Collie Cross) and Charlie (Cross breed pretend greyhound!) and Joe (my grey).

I will add some photos later....... I might bring him home tonight with me for a change of scenery if he doesn't get picked today...... xxxx

I know the big, wide world can be a vey scary place when you're not used to it, full of strange sights and sounds, but you will get used to things in time (especially if you ask Uncle Norman nicely, he might take you out again!). Tommo has today enjoyed his first day out since arriving at Daybreaks with a visit to Brueton Park.
After spending his whole life living in kennels and apart from his visits to the racetrack he obviously found having an afternoon out visiting a public park a completely new thing in his life. Although full of curiousity at everything around him he coped well with the whole experience, walking well on the lead and displayed no aggressive barking towards any of the dogs he met.
At the moment caution is needed when he finds himself face to face with small dogs who approached whilst off their lead.
He is an extremely affectionate lad who responds well to any human attention he receives.

I had a mosey at Tommo's racing career and after 125 races, some open class and all but a few at Perry Barr, this veteran has definitely earned a turkey leg and a couple of pigs-in blankets in his own forever home this Christmas! He's so handsome with a lovely long neck and pointy nose I only wish it could be mine... Xx

The gorgeous Tommo, along with his kennel mate Ruthy, gave me a helping paw with making his bed this morning! He & Ruthy took it in turns to either jump on the bed whilst I was trying to take the covers off, or sit on the pile of clean bedding waiting to go on!! He is the most beautiful boy with a handsome grey face, and he loves a cuddle. Big kisses to you sweetheart and thanks for your help!! xxxxxx
