This is terribly sad news. I remember well the happy barbecue we had at Daybreaks when Billy and his lovely family were on their epic adventure from landsend to John O'groats. Billy was a wonderful ambassador for Daybreaks and we are all heartbroken that he's crossed the bridge far far too soon. We will always remember him xx

I had a heartbreaking phone call to say that sadly Billy has gone to Rainbow Bridge. Billy's owners are absolutely devastated and asked me to let you all know.

Billy - you were one very amazing grey who brought so much to your owners and those around you. Your fundraising adventure from Lands End to John O Groats was epic!

Morning Lisa
We went to the vets yesterday and Billy has turned a huge corner, his liver count has come down and his vascular condition that was having an effect on his legs has improved! Although he is on a lot of medication he really is looking like his old self! We would like to thank everyone for there support, it really has had a massive impact on coping over this horrible time

So very sorry that your boy is suffering from this awful condition. Wishing & praying he is able to fight this. Not sure if you are aware but there is a vet doing some research into this condition. Billy has had his first antibiotic injection and Tracey says he seemed a little brighter this morning. He has a long hard journey ahead of him, but I have assured Tracey and jess that he is in all our thoughts.

Hi Lisa
The specialist has got back to our vets and as long as Billy’s kidneys don’t fail we still have hope! They are going to treat each of his symptoms one by one! He has liver failure, pancreatic disease and vascular failure at the moment! They are mostly concerned about the vascular problem so they are going to treat that as there main source for now!

I have just spoke to Billy's owners who are friends of mine. There vets are onto specialists and I will know more tonight when I speak to them later as they are awaiting a final call from the vets as to whether they is any formal of treatment... Billy is in major pain and they want to do what's best for him... Huge hugs to Tracey /Jess /Billy plus there other 3 dogs. X

I have planned an adventure!
Along with my owners, we set off from Lands End on Friday 7th August and the route will go along the Cornish Coastline arriving at John O Groats at the beginning of September.

We are passing through Birmingham on 23rd August so to celebrate we are having a BBQ at Daybreaks and hope you can join us too.

Along the way we are going to see the sights and meet lots of people whilst spreading the word that Greyhounds are amazing pets and fundraising towards the new flooring in the kennel block where I used to live at Daybreaks.

Fostered Billy since yesterday and getting to know him. Seems like he would fit into many different environments! He is such a lovely boy, gets on with our little family of 2 Jacks and a Lurcher! Takes everything in his stride, haven't heard a bark out of him yet! A perfect house guest

Billy only arrived at Daybreaks 2 days ago but has today paid his first visit to Brueton Park. What a fabulous dog to take out ! Completely laid back he took everything in his stride.Nothing phased himat all. He met other breeds of all shapes and sizes with no negative reaction whatsoever.He walks well on the lead and travelled well in the car.
Its meeting greyhounds like Billy that make you realise how lucky we are to be able to volunteer at Daybreaks and meet so many of these wonderful dogs.
When Billy finds his forever home not only will he be the fortunate one but so will be the family who home thiis fabulous lad.
