I am just heartbroken for you, anybody who is on this blog knows how much you loved and cherished your boy, he had a great life with you, and he will now watch over you and your other furbabies, rest easy Mel xxxx

Seana, I'm so very, very sad to hear Mel has gone to Rainbow Bridge. He was such a special lad and a perfect genetleman. A kind and gentle soul who was at Daybreaks for quite a while before you found each other. During his time at the kennels he looked after several nervous new arrivals who found moving home a stressful experience; he had such a calming influence on them. Xxx
Thinking of you, Fergal and Teddy and sending lots of love. There is a beautiful new Angel in heaven today. Kate, Skip, Fletcher and Lyra. Xxx

A big hello to all my old kennel friends & carers!!! I have now been in my home for 2 weeks & it feels like I have been here forever. Mummy says I am her golden boy like Archie & she feels truly blessed. We have had lovely visits to parks & cafes where Mummy orders special drinks & sausages for us. We have met some very nice people who love talking to Archie & I & they give us lots of cuddles too!!! I havent shown any interest in my new bed because I much prefer sleeping with Mummy. This morning I woke up & we were nose to nose. It was sooo funny. I swear Mummy was snoring although she says she wasnt! I feel safe when we are cuddled up together & I love being snuggled & having my ears cuddled while I sleep. It makes me feel all gooey. Archie prefers to sleep on his own which is good as I am like Bambi with my long legs everywhere. I am being a good boy when Mummy goes out but when she comes in I wag my tail as hard as I can & I follow her everywhere, even to the loo!!! I say I am protecting her. She says I am just a soppy baby. Well, I had better sign off as Mummy will be home soon & we are all going to the park with Auntie Sheila & 2 doggie friends she is babysitting. I am sending all my tail wags to everyone & will ask Mummy to bring me in one day to say hello. Lots of love from Mel xxxx

Zippety do dah, zippety yeah, my oh my its a wonderful day...when you go to your forever home. In less than an hour I explored my new home & garden, worked out how to get upstairs, introduced myself to the nice double bed with memory foam mattress....very good for my older bones!! I enjoyed my dinner of pilchards in tomatoe sauce with biscuits gobbling every bit down. My new little stepbrother explained it is customary for us to swap places when we have finished just to ensure we haven't missed anything & so I was happy to oblige. I then pitched myself in front of the open fire for a restful evening. I slept alongside Mummy in her arms for part of the night then spent the rest in a bed next to hers. I woke her up at 1.30 to go for a wee but I remembered to ask very nicely & then we all slept until 9am as we are all on holiday. We have enjoyed a lazy day apart from walking around the village to explore for 1.5 hours. It was very relaxing & the sun came out a little bit for us. We visited friends so I could say hello & they were very nice. So, so far so good. Archiebald & I are going to be great buds & have no problem sharing or swapping things. Tomorrow its Easter Sunday & I think I might have spied some special canine chocy eggs. I know I am going to meet my grandmother & am looking forward to a run in her rather large garden. Then in the evening I am going to meet my Godmother, Auntie Sheila, who lovezzzz doggie children so that should be fun. On Monday Mummy said if the weather isnt cold, & we haven't disgraced ourselves!!!! She will take us into Solihull for breakfast at Cafe Nero. I don't think I have done that before so I am looking forward to it. Mummy has closed her business for two weeks so I can settle into a routine, have some fun, & she has loadssss of horrible paperwork to do as it is year end. I don't understand any of that but it will be nice to have family time together. I am sending all my love & thanks to everyone who has supported me & looked after me during the last few months. I am truly grateful & have been lucky to be so well looked after. I will miss my cousins & can only hope that they get new mummies and daddies very soon. I will stay in touch. HAPPY EASTER everyone. Love Mel, Archie & Seana xxx

Come on folks I have met the lovely Mel on several occasions once at an Awarness Day when he behaved beautifully with both large, small dogs and young children. He also came on the Stratford walk and mixed really well with over 60 greyhounds, his age really is of no bearing he was more than able to keep up with everyone. Give him a chance you will not be disappointed.

I wonder if it is his age that is stopping people looking at this gorgeous boy. I know, 7 and a half isn't old, but next to dogs of 3 and 4 it may be a factor. I love this boy and have to admit to spending quite a bit of cuddle time with him and Amy in the kitchen run on Friday ( I was working too - honest!!). He is quiet, affectionate, knows when the peanut butter sandwiches are being prepared! and has definately helped the lovely Amy settle in and begin to overcome her shyness. He would love a nice quiet sofa to call his own, and I hope it comes his way soon. xxxx

Mel was very excited to go off to the park with Laddie today! He really is a super dog, his tail never stops wagging and he has a lovely temperament. Thanks so much to Norman for taking him and Laddie out for a change of scenery today. Xxx

Mel has today been out and about in Brueton Park. He showed quiet curiousity towards other breeds of dogs but displayed no aggression whatsoever.
He travelled well in the Trust Van with Laddie and they interacted together perfectly. Having seen this I'm sure he would have no problem living with other greyhounds.
He walks sensibly on the lead and although arriving at Daybreaks quite late in life at 7 years of age and having fathered 4 offspring this lovely gentle dog is more than ready to settle into his forever home.

Hi Melody - you look so so like our Davey. Muddypaws checked and you do have some relatives and it sure does show! Good luck handsome boy - I know you will give so much love and affection to your future forever family and I truly hope that you find them soon. If you are looking to home a grey, please dont be deterred from having this lovely boy just because of his age - he will have so much to give you and, if he is anything like Davey, you will not even realise he is 8 years old - Davey still thinks he is a puppy! All my love to you Melody and a big sloppy kiss from Davey (10 years old in April) and our 5 other greys (some of them are older than you lad so dont worry about your years). Love Terry XXXXXXX
