Podge has had a fantastic afternoon in Shirley fundraising. He was an absolute super star, taking fuss from all who went past! Plenty of donations so looking forward to hearing how much was raised, fingers crossed lots to help look after all the wonderful pooches :)

Think we might be back in a day or two for more food! My order from amazon didn't turn up and down to the last few meals worth already. This boy loves his food :)

Podge is just lovely, we're all very much learning as we go along and have had a couple of ups and downs with him but love him to bits! We'll try our very hardest to do the best by him. He really does give the best nuzzley hugs!

We saw gorgeous Podge this morning when he visited to have his nails done..... I gave him a pigs ear as a treat for letting me looking at his teeth and being a brave boy...... he is gorgeous and a very lucky boy x

Thanks for phoning yesterday lewisfuggie it was a really useful chat. He hasn't marked again since yesterday morning so I think -fingers crossed - it was a bit of stress. He's such a lovely boy. Gives me super cuddles, especially in the morning when we get up :)

If you can take him out more often and of course praise him loads these help. Is he the only dog in the house or do you have others?

Hi Curly, was good to chat with you earlier, I think due to whats happened over the last rew days with his duw claw, I think he just got a little stressed and was trying to re establish himself, you are doing everything right, dont forget we are always at the end of the phone. Hi all, podge has decided to start marking in the house, was hoping someone might have some clever ideas how to stop him. At the moment I've been cleaning it up well to try and get rid of any smell, and really praising him when he goes out side. Are there any sprays that could be put on furniture etc to deter him? Any advice appreciated.

Oh, and we're starting to see where the name comes from - apart from being a big boy, he really loves his food! Going to have to be careful there!!

Podge has been a super star at home so far, played well with the kids, explored every inch of the garden and walked beautifully. We had a little bit of fun getting him to settle last night but got there in the end and then he was good as gold, no crying and clean this morning. Fingers crossed it will carry on this way ;)

The lad's shameless! We took him up to Mell Square in Solihull on a roadshow and he was lying on his back with his legs in the air - never seen that on a roadshow before!!! They do say that you don't choose your Grey, your Grey chooses you. Mand x

Podge played a blinder yesterday, he came back from his walk and spotted a family that needed a greyhound to fuss so he casually walked over and plonked himself right in the middle of them. They started to fuss him and then he decided to do the Greyhound Lean which worked a treat!!! Lo and behold he is now reserved. Note to other greys, this is how you do it!!!!

It is very true it is easy to judge we had Cadbury for a long time and was heart broken when we had to return him. After reflection we decided that we were partly to blame for his return and we could have tried harder, but this is not always the way and you have to consider the grey and what's best for him or her. It may be that returning g is the best. On a happy note on a happy note we have been so heart broken we have took Cadbury back and he is happy with his girls and so far every thing is good. We are takin one day at a time. I'm sure Podge will find the right owner and sofa for him very soon it can just take a little time but when the right one comes along it will be forever xx

I agree with Ruth it is a very difficult time if you have to return a hound, for what ever reason, its not for us to judge the reason why ( we may not agree ) just that it is in the best interest of the hound and owners at that time . Ever hound has a special sofa with there name on xx

At Daybreaks we pride ourselves on being there to support owners and of course their dogs. it is so easy to be judgmental about a returnee but please remember a dog comes back to us for a reason and in the case of Podge it was the right decision for all concerned. It can be a very distressing experience for those involved and sadly negative comments can make it worse. Please try to help us support those who genuinely care for their dogs and doing the right thing.

What a shame that podge has been returned. Whilst common sense will say that the home needs to be in the best interest of the dog, it is still disappointing (for all concerned) when it does not workout.

On a positive note, all have learned and can use that with the new parents to be. I cannot imagine him being at Perry Bar for long when we saw him during a visit with Charlotte he was posing and enjoying the sun and he looks beautiful.

Podge the forever sofa will not be a long wait I am sure (I hope these are not famous last words). Have a cuddle form Charlotte's family.

Podge, I'm delighted you had a lovely day out in Mell Square on Saturday. You are such a sweetie and do seem to like nothing better than lounging around snoozing. On Friday you spent all day flat out in the run in the lovely sunshine, deciding to move only when the food bowls arrived! And it sounds as if the hustle and bustle of a road show didn't deter you from your mission of snoozing - well done sweetheart, I somehow dont think your forever sofa will be too far away. xxxx

Podge also came with us to Mell Square this afternoon. He's a lovely boy, who almost couldn't believe his eyes when he arrived at the roadshow, so many new things to see and smell. He quickly settled after a trot round the block and then got very comfy on a duvet. So comfy in fact that he turned onto his back, legs in the air and showed everyone what Greyhounds do best! He had to be persuaded off the duvet when it was time to leave! He was excellent when people stopped to fuss him, a lovely boy and travelled very well in the car. Mand x
