Hi peteandjan I am not a vet but a nurse and terminology used is similar so I would say --Hemi means partial, mandible means jaw bone, and lectomy roughly means removal, I guess they will operate to remove part of the jaw which may have the cancer so that it will hopefully clear it. I am sure if it is cancer they will give you lots of more information than I can and they do have a plan so maybe not so bad. Fingers crossed. Hope this helps. x

Me Saffy and Sunny are having a good time in our new home. There are lots of walks but Mam and Dad keep stopping to look at the view they also sit in the garden looking at the view with glasses in their hands. Now I and my mates have sniffed all round the garden and a bit of next door but can find no views nor do I know how many legs they have. I shall keep looking.
We do have one problem Saffy may have cancer in her mouth mam and dad were told that a HEMIMANDIBULECTOMY will help does anybody anything about this? So I can tell Saffy and Sunny.

I took gorgeous Betty to Fivelands Vets today and she sadly has been discharged with just 3 teeth left.... poor bubba. She is bright, already eating well and despite bringing her back to ours, she seemed very unsettled. As Celt had been obviously missing her today, I have just popped her back to the kennels. She settled straight onto the bed with Celt and I can keep an eye on her on the cameras. ...she is beautiful. As she was not speyed today, this will be done in around 3 to 4 weeks time when she has recovered from her surgery today.

Betty and Celt...... what can I say? The reminder of their sad state of health is the awful smell coming from their kennel. Their teeth are in a terrible way and they are both booked in next week for dentals.
I am just so pleased that the Head Office of RGT and Greyhound Board stepped in and asked us to help so at least we can make a difference to those who come to us.
I want to thank everyone who supports us in whatever way possible. This enables us as a team to help greyhounds, either that come to us or get rehomed via other venues and this is what matters. These gentle beautiful dogs repay you just by seeing their lives improve. My heart breaks every day for those we are unable to help....
