So Hector met his new family on Monday and is now packing his bag to leave us tomorrow. We have so enjoyed having him staying with us and will really miss him but we know he'll be very happy in his new home with his new brother Teddy. Have a wonderful life gorgeous boy xxxx

Fab new photos of the very handsome Hector, such a fabulous hound xxxxx
Tuesday 23 Apr 22:54
Hector has finally worked out stairs! He hasn't been at all interested up to now, even though our 3 go up and down regularly. But yesterday we found him halfway up with all 4 legs spread eagled like Bambi on ice!! He slid down backwards (!!!) and then tried again and managed to go up in a very ungainly fashion on his third attempt. He was too scared to come down though and Paul and I had to push and pull using his lead and a treat and then he managed it. He's now a regular visitor upstairs and slowly getting quicker and better at it. He quickly found the bed but seems happier to lie on a bed on the floor. Such a lovely boy - and still looking for his forever home :) xx
Monday 15 Apr 19:17
Hector also will come with custom made coats, a tub full of toys plus lots more, he's already to go... X
Monday 15 Apr 18:06
Hector's still with us but still looking for his forever home. He's very good on the lead, gets on well with other dogs (although has to have a good sniff at small ones as he still finds it hard to believe something small can actually be a dog!), absolutely loves fuss, and can be left for quite a long time with no problem though he is with our dogs then. Please don't overlook this lovely boy xx
Monday 08 Apr 13:05
Love Hector to bits! Great to see him at Notcutts yesterday. He's such a gentle soul and the way he looks at you. Had to stop wife from stealing him to come and live with Reggie. I so hope someone gives him a warm and loving home very soon. x
Sunday 07 Apr 19:54
We were back at Notcutts today and Hector was such a good boy. He took all the fuss he could get and won a few hearts. I'm hoping that someone whose heart has been won over will want to take him home with them and give him the forever home he deserves (not a forever sofa as he doesn't seem interested in that!) xx
Friday 05 Apr 07:56
We're "on duty" on Sunday at 2pm at Notcutts with Bert and Skip so we'll see you then. We're bringing Skip to the kennels later today so we'll introduce the 2 of you so you know each other for Sunday. x
Thursday 04 Apr 21:59
Hector came with Snip and Rigsby to the roadshow at Notcutts this afternoon and did really well. He loved all the fuss and then had a nice lie down! If anyone would like to meet him, he'll be back at Notcutts tomorrow from 4-6 and on Sunday from 1.30-4pm.
Sunday 31 Mar 20:26
Hector is back being fostered with us after his holiday while I was away. He settled straight back in and has improved on a couple of things while he's been away. He'd finished his tea tonight and was about to dive in to Snip's bowl as she was still eating but immediately moved away when I told him to leave it. What a good boy! He can also now jump into and out of the car which is a relief - he's a big boy and I'd had to lift his front half then back half in to the car a week ago! I'm sure the neighbours are disappointed to not have that comedy show any more :) More updates will be on their way but get in touch if you'd like to meet this lovely boy xx
Saturday 30 Mar 16:59
The handsome Hector has had a lovely weeks holiday at our house. He is a dream on the lead, loves a fuss and neck scratch, has played with ALL the toys, chucking them about the garden and playing fetch. He has really enjoyed the company of my big softy Sully but my cheeky Tinker is starting to annoy him when he's trying to sleep now by treading all over him!? so he's looking for a forever home where he can get some peace in a bed of his own. Very affectionate boy, keen to learn. He even jumped straight in the van when we went for an outing and travelled well. Good luck Hector. X
Saturday 23 Mar 23:03
So we've got the lovely Hector with us for a few days. He was a bit anxious yesterday and not sure what was going on for the first few hours but settled by the evening and has been very happy since. He absolutely LOVES his fuss and being scratched under his chin is obviously ecstasy for him! He loves playing with toys too. He's been really good out on walks and he and our 3 greys have got on fine with no problems eating or being next to each other so he doesn't need to be an only dog. He has sleep startle so if there are children in the house, they'd need to understand not to touch him if he's asleep but apart from that, he would be a great addition to any house. And he's still only 7 and gorgeous so please don't overlook him! Xx
Friday 22 Mar 12:01
Sending big hugs to Hector, be strong fella, your perfect home is out there xxxx
Friday 22 Mar 08:59
Oh no! Poor Hector, his heart must be aching poor fella. We were even debating having him join Reggie and Crockett but we just couldn't do it. :( Huge hugs to Hector. We so feel for him. xx
Thursday 21 Mar 23:36

Thursday 21 Mar 20:46
Oh no so sorry to see youre back hector and breaks my heart to think of you all depressed and upset. Hopefully you'll find your new forever home soon, keeping fingers crossed for you xxx
Thursday 21 Mar 20:28
Oh no. Poor Hector. If you're still in kennels on Sunday I'll say hello and maybe see you on the morning walk. 8 is still young enough for you to settle into a new family and have years and years of happy times with them. x
Thursday 21 Mar 19:23
Hector ran 153 races, he'll need time to realise he's got another career as a lounge hound. Hope he finds his forever sofa very soon :( xx
Thursday 21 Mar 18:39
Lots of hugs for you Hector. You were very down yesterday and it upset me to see your sad little face. You enjoyed your walk though and was such a good boy. Xx
Thursday 21 Mar 18:33
I am just saddened to read this, I have a soft spot for this beautiful boy, he should not have to find himself back in kennels at his age, if this is through no fault of his own then hopefully somebody will give him the home he deserves, good luck Hector xxxx
Thursday 21 Mar 16:20
Oh no, I am so upset to read this. Hector was one of my favourites being an older boy. Am just gutted. Will give him big cuddles tomorrow. Xx
Thursday 21 Mar 13:20
Oh Hector really sad that this has happened! Really hope you get another home soon. My cuddle goes to you. Stay strong! Xx
Thursday 21 Mar 12:03
Hector has sadly been returned to Daybreaks due to an incident which was not his fault. His owner is very upset but we understand and support her reason for return. He has been in a home since the end of December.
Hector is extremely affectionate, good with other breeds (large and small), walks well on the lead and is clean in the house and can be left.
Since being returned Hector is visibly depressed and it is breaking our hearts. If you think you could offer him a home or could even foster him, please give us a call.
Friday 01 Feb 14:32
Oh dear Hector! Clearly heard the word vet and decided no! He's a lovely big boy, maybe tell him he's going on a sausage hunt next time. Lol. Xxxx
Friday 01 Feb 10:02
I went to see Hector this morning as his new mom wanted to take him to be weighed at vets and he was refusing to get in car... We went through a few techniques, but when he weighs 39kg.....its not as easy as others we deal with. Lol. X
Thursday 03 Jan 21:31

Lena and Peggy met the handsome Hector in the park this afternoon. What a lovely big fella he is. Lena retired to the car but Peggy had a walk round the park with him and his new mum. It was lovely to meet them both and it sounds like he’s doing well in his new home. Definitely a Happy New Year for Hector xx

Thursday 20 Dec 18:10
Oh my word Hector. You are such a handsome gentle boy. I love you so very much, even though I struggled to get you in the car to go to the vets. Never mind some of us older people remembering Hectors House! have said you are Hector the size of a house. So happy for you sweetie, you really are such a very gentle giant. Just in time for your Christmas forever. Xx
Saturday 15 Dec 16:48
Very impressed when I met this lad today. I sat with him on his bed for a while and he thoroughly enjoyed the fuss and attention. Hector will really enjoy domestic life.
Friday 14 Dec 12:28
Hector is gorgeous! (Although he may give Fat Neck Finn a run for his money in collar size!) Walks nicely and loves fuss. Xx
Friday 14 Dec 07:09
If finances would have allowed I would have snapped this boy up and gone to three, just love his face and the larger greys. Prospective owners do not be put of by the larger ones they can squeeze into the smallest positions
Thursday 13 Dec 19:04
I totally agree with you, showing my age too. He is gorgeous!
Thursday 13 Dec 14:03
Met Lovely Hector for the first time today and he is lovely. He's a big lad with lots of muscle but a real gentle giant. For those of a certain age who remember Hector's house (giving my age away!)I keep thinking he really is "A great big cuddly old Hector" xx
Wednesday 12 Dec 20:35
I just love the look of this lad. I thought Lottie was big at 34kg!
Tuesday 11 Dec 21:29
Totally agree I think this boy is stunning and even more so that the daily diary said he was 39kg so must be huge which makes me want him more but I know my hubby would definetly notice especially after our youngest cat has just treated us to an £720 vet bill for somehow managing to slice the end of her tail off! Xxx
Tuesday 11 Dec 21:09
Loved your comment Shanishoo! Hector is gorgeous isn't he? *Gives him a hug*
Tuesday 11 Dec 20:15
Do you think hubby would notice if I sneaked a Hector in the house??????, what a gorgeous hound, think I'm in love.......if we had the room he would definitely be in our house xxxxxx
Monday 10 Dec 15:20
Wow wow and Wow!!. What a fantastic big boy Hector is. I took him on a walk along the Cov. Rd this aftetnoon and he was absolutely great. Walked nicely on the lead, wasn't bothered by the traffic or airline noise. Lovely boy xxxx
Sunday 09 Dec 21:06
Hector has had his pet name since he was five weeks old. Xxx
Sunday 09 Dec 20:05

He hasn’t raced since May 2017 !
Sunday 09 Dec 18:26
What a handsome boy - welcome to Daybreaks Hector. Xx
Sunday 09 Dec 16:45
Could not agree more with the last statement. I had Jed after 120 races and he has been so chilled. Jed walked into the house for the first time, saw his new bed and looked at me as if to say “that will do nicely thank you”
Sunday 09 Dec 16:19
Oh my goodness...you are gorgeous & I love the name. Welcome Hector. My Mel was 7.5 when he retired. I wish I could have you. I will pray you dont have to wait toooo long for a lovely snugly sofa. Come on people......dont overlook the older residents. They are usually so chilled & have even more love to give, if thats possible, because they so badly want a home to call their own. My Mel settled in straight away as though he just knew what was required. You have such a kind face Hector.....it would be impossible not to fall for you on meeting I am sure!!!
Sunday 09 Dec 14:46
Oh Hector, you are safe now, you don't have to run any more unless you want to sweetheart, way too many races!!!!!, poor little lamb xxxxx
