The procedure went well, she was a very good girl and it didn't seem to bother her (more than can be said for me!). Bit of a panic on the way out when she started rubbing the eye with her front leg (could have scratched it with her dew claw which would have been a disaaaaster!) so had to have a collar on which stressed her out . However once home she settled then had a big dinner and some Metacam and is now chilling out. Just have to wait and see how it goes. I'm going to join her now chilling out with a large glass of wine!xx

Unfortunately the drops had little effect so she's off to Willows on Friday for the injection poor thing, fingers crossed this does the trick.

Love the photos at Aldridge, But how are people going to believe that Greys are the calm, even serene, heading you could say towards regal beasts the are if Sophie sits there blowing raspberrys at passers-by. Xxx

So pleased Sophie's eye is not as bad as was feared. Hopefully the steroids will sort things out. Xx

Phew that's a relief! Sophie has an eye condition called Nodular episcleritis which is not as serious as the two other options which could have led to her eye being removed or going blind. Treatable with steroids, we're going to try drops 6 times a day rather than the injection into the eye which makes me feel quite yukky just thinking about it! Will hopefully see an improvement soon. Apart from that she's happy and healthy and will be looking for a forever home soon, preferably without a lively young dog like Leo as he does wind her up at times!

The lovely Sophie came for a visit after her trip to the Willows today - it was lovely to see this beautiful girl and have a cuddle. x

Oh dear Beryl, so sorry to read the poor girl has another problem to contend with. Will be keeping fingers crossed for her tomorrow -they certainly know how to worry us don't they?x

Sorry for the delay replying Shanesmum, have been a bit distracted. Sophie's toe healed very well but just as I was about to try and find her a permanent home another problem arose. When she came to us in July we noticed her right eye was a bit red but weren't unduly concerned. However this changed for the worse and we sought veterinary advice. It could one of two things, neither of which are very nice, and daily steroid drops have kept it about the same. She's off to the Willows on Friday and we're hoping the opthamologist can make a definite diagnosis so we know where we stand. I'll post an update at the weekend.

Oh dear Sophie - I know you are having fun being with Beryl's houndies, but please remember you are a mature lady and shouldn't really be dashing round the garden!! Having said that, it's great that she is happy and relaxed enough to want to play with Leo. Don't feel bad Beryl, these things do happen and she'll get plenty of TLC while she heals I'm sure. She sounds like a really beautiful girl. xx

Quick update on Sophie - what can I say? Just she's adorable, gentle, loving, well behaved and can be left for a few hours if necessary. She particularly enjoys the company of our 4 and would be perfect for someone with an older grey or 2. I say older for a very good reason. Our youngster Leo is a bit lively at times and when he ran into the garden to play with a toy Sophie just wanted to join in bless her. Unfortunately she stumbled and the result is a fractured toe!! I know these things happen but I feel really bad about it as she's in our care. She's bandaged up while it heals, a few weeks probably, but on the plus side she's coping well and not complaining, that's how good she is! Obviously she will stay with us till she's 100 per cent, but if you think you could offer her a home please get in touch.

This lovely little girl has now come back to the trust. We are fostering her until we can find her a new home. She's settled in well with our 4 and seems to enjoy canine company but we cannot keep her permanently. If you want to know more please contact Ruth or myself. PS She has fabulous pointy ears!! Sophie was homed in 2009. Sadly the owners are moving to rented accommodation and are unable to take her. We are therefore desperate to find her a home asap.

Her owners tell us: Sophie is fine with children (better 4 years plus), has a lovely placid nature and would particularly be happy with the company of other dogs. She very rarely barks.

Uh oh - another pretty one. She is Kev's half sister (and so much alike in looks) so I'll bet she is just perfect! Em xxx

oh my goodness she looks like Kenzie, it's not fair that they are all so gorgeous as we really can't have them all. someone out there will get a lovely hound. x
