Sorry I have had to place this message on Mindy's site, but cannot at this moment find Flossie's. Just to let folks know that Flossie will not be speaking to me from 7 this evening as she's going on a starvation diet and going to the vet's tomorrow for some dental work. Bet she soon forgives me when I get her home. Sylv

Well the sad day has arrived its exactly 12 mths to the day that we made the decision to have Mindy PTS as the tumour had got so large and was causing her pain.
Although we only had her for 10 mths she will live in our hearts for ever, but we do have her daughter Flossie (Flojo).
Icemaid Mindy's plaque will up at the kennels today in memory of her.

Well this a sad week for all who knew the lovely Mindy or came into contact with her. I have to send love to Mary & Martin, who loved & cared for her, before she became ours.
Mindy was most lovely of ladies, her plaque will be at the kennels. Although some of her siblings have preceded her we still have the lovely Flossie (Flojo) with us.
She will always be deeply missed.

Well the sad day was a hit with the weather. As we live close to a canal & Mindy loved her walks there, we decided to take her on a day boat from Stoke Golding to Market Bosworth. Leaving just after 10 and approx.15 mins into the journey doing the correct thing with a narrow boat on the side away from the tow path, friend June and I sat in the open part at the front holding Flossie's collar, a dog barked at her on the towpath, Flossie jumped up high and with a big splash 'YES GREYHOUNDS CAN SWIM' then came the problem of getting to the towpath side in an area one could get off, John steering, friend Sam jumped off, Flossie passing the boat going in the direction we had passed, a moored boat we had passed pulled her from the water and all was well after drying her off. On the return journey we scattered Mindy.s ashes between bridges 30 & 29 so in future we have access to the towpath from the road.
With things I had forgotten it was Flossie's b/day yesterday now aged 6

Hi Kate, Well not too well at the moment. I understand how Maisie's mom felt when she looked up at her, Mindy had started doing the same. She started crying late afternoon & evening(the vet said it was probably the weight on her back), the tumour now larger than a football & the weeping had come back with a vengeance. So we did what we had to.
She is going on her trip tomorrow with daughter Flossie & Auntie Minty, that will be a bad day I feel.
Thank you for your thoughts, hope Twiggy's well.

Mindy is a well as can be expected & not shoswing any signs of being in pain, for how long I cannot say. Although she is visably loosing weight having said that this Lady still shoots up stairs on three legs. Back at the vet's tomorrow (Fri.). Will be in touch over progress.

Wednesday 17 Nov 14:08

Hi All, Just to let you know the Icemaid Mindy visited the vet's today, her back leg (hip area) is put down to a heratoma. The corns not so bad but not right. The receptionist says she was surprised how lively the Icemaid was after coming round from her X ray with her old legs. Another visit in 3 weeks time. Sylv

Hi Sylv, thanks for the update on Mindy. Great news the X Ray didn't show anything serious. Touch wood, Twiggy is doing fine at the moment. They do make you worry don't they? I hope you all have a good weekend. Kate x

by tiggersslave

Friday 12 Nov 08:33

PS Tigger goes for regular chiropractic checks with a McTimoney chiropractor in Bromsgrove which keeeps her very fit so if your vet can't find anything you might like to try Wendy Lymer who is very good and very reasonable (about £20 a session) and I can claim it back thro my insurance :)

Friday 12 Nov 08:31

Hi Sylv If Mindy's still having problems with corns this is what I used to clear Tiggers ... I got some Neem Oil (Ruth may have some or from Neem Genie), I used a bit of sandpaper and rubbed the top off the corn then added a bit of Neem Oil and bandaged the foot to keep the oil on and stop it getting everywhere .. I changed it twice a day and the corn went after about 2-3 weeks never to return :)

Hi Lady Victoria, stitches out & no need to return to vet's(one hopes) it seemed to go on for ever, she seems to have taken it in her stride & being an older lady not concerned by vet's, she even tried to go back & see the vet (may be to thank him or give him a kiss) SYLV.

by LadyVictoria

Monday 24 May 09:45

Hi Sylv, many thanks for the information. Sorry to hear you lost Georgie to cancer. The increased dose of Propalin has stopped Twiggy having little accidents in the night, which I am sure must make her feel better. Fortunately she will eat anything and doesn't notice the added Propalin in her food! I am hoping we can reduce the dose a little over a period of time. I hope Mindy gets on well at the vet's today. Kate x

by suzie

Saturday 22 May 12:03

Hi Bullett, Back to the vet's on Monday, looks like the lamp shade collar but we will see the dressing has to come of some time, you would not believe she had a problem (well that's in her thoughts). SYLV

by suzie

Saturday 22 May 12:00

Hi Kate, At the start Georgie was on a high dose & slowley reduced. Georgie took the drug 3/4 yrs (until she passed away) they only problem we incured she would not have it on her food. Having since childhood had numerous bithches I had never encountered this problem until Georgie.
Until you can balance as we had too, things will then work out & the wetting problem with be solved but one will incur around £32/35.00 every 3 mnths. But no long term problems.
Georgie 11yrs. when she passed away with cancer. Twiggy will be fine when dosage solved & no more water problems.

Friday 21 May 13:35

Hi Sylv, Twiggy has been taking Propalin for a while now for the same reason. The vet has advised increasing her daily dose. It's reassuring to hear someone else having encountered the same condition. Did Georgie have any problems with taking Propalin long term? Kate x

by suzie

Friday 21 May 10:53

Hi Kate, My previous grey (Georgie) had a water works problem, took some time to solve but ended up being a kind of hormonal problem due to being spayed & was on Propalin Syrup(think thats how it was spelt)for the rest of her life. Hope Twiggy goes o.k. & the temperature well we wouldn't like it. SYLV Good weekend to you both (may be get the BQ out while we can)

Friday 21 May 10:08

Hi Sylv, she sounds so lovely, I hope she keeps the dressing on even though it is multi-coloured and probably not good for her street cred!! My Twiggy had to go and see the vet last night. She has been having trouble with wetting the bed, poor lass. Hopefully all sorted now, she was not impressed at having to suffer the indignity of having her temperature taken, but the vet gave her a gravy bone to cheer her up!! Hope you all have a good weekend. Kate & Twiggy xx

I don't work long hours, which would be great and she'd have 2 doggy brothers to play and snuggle with, but, does she get on with other breeds and how is she with children? I have 2 boys 7 & 8, who are brilliant with the dogs, but are quite busy. I'm wondering if Mindy needs a quiet house or if the noise and busyness wouldn't bother her. If someone could answer these questions it would be great, so I know if I need to start working on my husband or not!

I shouldn't ask, my sensible hubby says 3 dogs would be too much, especially as Buddy is on the large size, but... how big is she and how is she with other breeds?

sit in front of and have loads of treats.

Thursday 24 Dec 13:15

her owners were having trouble with toilet training. However after a few days with the fabulous Martin and Mary who are fostering her, she is doing fantastic and had no accidents yesterday. All she needs is routine and plenty of opportunities to toilet. As she has lived in a kennel for such a long time she needs a home to call hers.....

she really is a beauty, I wish we could have her, for anyone who is thinking she is 8 let me say that she will be nothing like hard to care for and have at home, as lovemygreys said, just a tummy tickle, food and comfort is all thats needed, and love costs nothing...think of what you would get in return from her, lower blood pressure and someone who is unconditionally happy to see you whenever you return home after a hard days work!! hope she is snapped up soonxxx

by rubyjojomyles!!

Friday 06 Nov 09:28

She had a comfortable night (apart from being sick at 3am this morning). She is making herself at home and found she likes the window seat with all the cushions. She is beautiful. She is the mum of Monkspath Evie who we homed a few years ago and she had a visit from Evie's owners last night who also thought she was beautiful.

I hope someone will give her a lovely home for the last few years of her life and not look past the fact that she is an oldie at 8 years.
