Happy birthday 4th birthday brother. It was lovely to meet you at the dog show. I must apologise for my sister Olive - fancy getting into bed with you after she'd only known you for 5 minutes, I don't know where she gets her morals from! Hope to meet again one day. Love and kisses Ruby.

Yes, the smile is most definitely still there and it's great to be greeted by one of his huge grins (though it's best to try and dodge "the tail that's a waggin" as that one can smart a bit!?!). We took him on his first walk with the Trust on Sunday at Sutton Park and he had a great time. He figured the object of the game was to pass every other dog walking ahead and get to the front. As we started at the back he didn't achieve this but certainly gave it a go!

Sorry for not having been in touch sooner but I forgot my original password and have now registered again. Thank you for all the lovely comments about Sticky and we have quickly realised why you have a soft spot for him as he is such a darling! You will be pleased to hear he has settled into a routine really quickly and is definitely part of the family. He loves his walks (although food and cuddles may just be top of his list) and has now met many different breed of dogs. The more of the bigger variety he meets the less interested he seems in the smaller kind. He has made a couple of friends who he sees occasionally on his walks but his best mate has to be my Mom's border collie, Ozzy, who he has had a couple of sleep-overs with. Though you would think Ozzy would object as Sticky likes nothing better than to pinch his food and favourite toys! Luckily my family are as smitten with him as we are so he gets away with it the cheeky lad. Thank you for continuing to send him cuddles which I promise we pass on every day. In fact, he has just come in to find me typing this so I will pass them on now.

Hello Rubie. Thank you for getting in touch as it was lovely to see Sticky's sister and the obvious similarities. Each day we are learning more about this sweet boy and are pleased to see his more playful side emerging. After his stressful period, it is great to see Sticky's coat recovering (which we hope means he is settling as well as he appears to be). It has surprised us how quickly his fur is growing back, and seeing Rubie, looks as though we were correct in thinking that he is going to have a nice white chest. She is a beauty! We are planning to join the training sessions which are starting up in Great Barr at the end of this month (as it is nearer to home) but are hoping to go the Billesley in the meantime. If we don't see you there, we will certainly keep an eye out on the walks as it would be lovely to reunite these two sweeties.

Hello Sticky. So glad you've found a home. We've been following Sticky's story with special interest as his full sister Ruby (Icemaid Rubie - Rubie on Daybreaks site) joined our family 3 months ago. Ruby and Sticky are the only 2 fawn dogs in the litter and look so alike. Ruby is a lively, friendly dog too, and it looks like she and Sticky have another thing in common as she's a daddy's girl! Maybe they'll meet up again at dog training or on one of the walks?

Hello ladies, thought I would let you know how Sticky is settling in. He was a dream on the way home and we saw just how much he can wag his tail on exploring the house. He has been a star with his toileting and comes bounding inside looking for his treat, so thank you to whoever taught him that one! On his first walk we passed two little white highland terriers which he barely noticed. The walk seemed to do the trick as he slept most of the evening and night, so much so, that we managed to cook and eat our evening meal without him even noticing!

Sticky is staying with me for a few days to get him used to other breeds, so far, other than my 5 greys and 3 collie crosses, he has met a boisterous dalmation in the park and was fantastic, took him to the Lickey hills yesterday and he met a few spaniels and was great with them once hed had a good sniff, totally ignored the ducks this morning but does like to watch my chickens! still very interested in the cats but getting better, hes now lying at my feet fast asleep. He is going to make someone a wonderful pet, but I think he would prefer the company of an other dog. Please someone give this very affectionate boy the loving home he deserves

Tuesday 16 Feb 17:25

please don't worry about Leo's tail, my Rossi only has a very small tail left as he broke it in several places wagging it too much and he had to have it amputated, his older brother Kenzie only has 3/4 of a tail as someone managed to trap his tail in a door when he was young and it consequently dropped off, both of them manage absolutely fine and are still the most handsome boys in my eyes. Tuesday 16 Feb 10:55

Hi! We are so glad we visited the kennels yesterday. After a few sleepless nights with Leo we needed some advice and Ruth and others came up trumps.
Leo went to bed last night with Classic FM, some extra light on, and sporting his new fleecy housecoat. When Karen got up at 6am he was still in bed, not a murmur from him all night. After a quick trip to the garden he then slept on until 8am. He ate all his breakfast (no surprise there!) and we've been out for a walk. It's only one night, but we feel like it's progress.
Leo also went to the vet yesterday and unfortunately it seems he may lose some of his tail. But he's affectionate, mischievous, happy, and eats like a horse! As I type this he's snoozing again by my feet.
Thanks again for the help yesterday.

Well, we picked Leo up today and we certainly know he's arrived. He's a real character and so full of life!
He was absolutely fine in the car coming home. We took him straight into the garden where he obliged with a wee. Then he explored the house, showing us that stairs are no problem for him. First thing we had to do was get him off our water bed!
He walked on the lead fine when we took him to New Hall Country Park for his walk. Then a quick visit to 'Pets at Home' which he seemed to love. He demolished his dinner in about 20 seconds and eventually dozed off. Now he's calmed down and seems to be getting used to the strange surroundings.
It's a learning experience for all of us but it's going to be worth it - he's adorable!!
