Ged has been over to see his Auny Ruth before going to his new forever home with Mommy Sue. He is the sweetest natured dog I've ever come across, all he wants is to find people he can rely on and trust to love him, keep him warm, feed him so he's never hungry and who never gets angry with him..... funny, that's what we humans need too ;-). I'm in love with greyhounds.... lol...

Happy birthday boy! Your Auntie Alison and Jill are looking after you for me so well you are a very lucky boy. Birthday cake too wow! I am really looking forward to getting you home and will have to make up for missing your birthday with some home coming treats instead. Will have to be home made to keep up with all those lovely treats your auntie has been baking lets hope my cookery skills are up to scratch hey!;)

Birthday cake for Ged to share with Jack and Sky is in the oven. Let's hope I don't burn it, lol. He is such a super boy and wonderful company - he listens hard and never answers back, tee hee. So far today he's had an almond oil massage, teeth brushed (that didn't go down very well), scrambled eggs (free range of course) and toast for brekky. Off ot make him a birthday card now. Fi, Charlie, Fly, and Sue, I'll also make some from you :-) (Yes I am QUITE dotty, lol.)

Thanks Deb - A La Bark Baking, yep got that, it's marvellous but I'd run out, lol, better get some more baking done then! Well, thank heavens, all the boys slept the night through: - Ged chose the junior bed, Sky went in his day basket and Jack went on the floor next to me (on a quilt) then gravitated to the bed. I've every confidence Ged and his new family will make Forever Friends :-). And, for the very first time Ged has felt confident enough this morning to go back to his bed and leave me in the office - bless. They've all got a lot sleeping to catch up on!

I can recommend the doggie cook book the kennels stock you can make cheap doggie treats from items in the kitchen cupboard which are tasty and additive free!

Day 5 of Ged's holiday... discovered the little man is allergic to food colouring in treats - it makes him hyperactive,. It wasn't funny to see him running around like a mad thing and then not be able to get his breath properly for ages - I nearly called the vet! No more manufactured treats that aren't 100% safe, lol! He had a great run around the garden this morning but recovered his breath in no time at all! Makes me laugh 'cos he's crazy to get out of the gate / door first, but once out is absolutely calm on the lead. He will be so pleased to go to his new mum and home - the poor little sossidge will then be able to settle as he's not getting as much sleep as he would like (neither am I, heh heh but that's okay). He is so lovely and when he tries to wag his tiny stump it's so sad - this chap deserves his lovely new family and home. Speaking of whom, his new mom visited and I couldn't believe it when Ged clearly remembered her - and especially the handbag, lol...

Progress: Ged can get upstairs but he's very nervous going down thus requiring an escort :-) - I'm sure he will have sorted it by the end of his hols. He doesn't like the slippy flat flooring like vinyl (bathroom) and tiles (kitchen) but it helps that we've got mats down. He invited us to play yesterday - how fabulous! Loves company. Is a ferret - interested in everything (evidence the hot foil wrapped bananas that had not long come off the barbecue - don't worry he didn't eat them, we took them back, he was just taking a look, lol).
He will lie anywhere that you are and loves a stroke / cuddle. He's very well mannered with his food - eating only as much as he wants. Today all the boys will be having a little shower in the garden as it's so warm, plus getting their teeth brushed - maybe just a finger brush for Ged to start with to see how he copes. Then it will be a trip to the Country Store down the road for the best pigs ears in Staffordshire. Ah, he's so lovely - his new family will absolutely adore him. He can't wag his tail (although you can see he is trying) but his eyes say it all. If he could speak he would be sending kisses to his sad mummy and telling her that he's alright and not to worry. He's such a delightful little chap - as Ruth would say: a poppet!

Well, he's definitely settled himself in.... to my bed!!!!! lol. I sat up to see if he was alright and up he jumped.. didn't have the heart to move him as he'd called right down all nice and cosy.. so at 4.30 in the morning (I couldn't sleep anyway) I've been sat at the computer working. Now he feels safe with us, he can have the cot mattress right next to me on the floorfor tonight - that way I get to keep my half of the bed, lol. Alison

YAY! Thanks Alison and Jill - you have a foster home from tomorrow :-)

by DaybreaksRuth

Wednesday 01 Jun 19:54

I am really anxious to find Ged a foster home before Friday lunchtime..... he is such a good boy and I didn't want to upset him further by moving him to other kennels whilst Daybreaks is closed. He is great with other greys and was very good on his walk at Sutton Park and met lots of small dogs. He is good with kids, clean in his kennel and quiet..... please give me a call if you think you can help.

Sorry we missed you on the walk earlier Ruth. Our pocket rocket Emily was dragging us up the hill with no time to stop and we had to leave almost straight after. He does look such a handsome boy and I can see he's made himself very comfortable in one of your chairs - bless him. Mand x

I took this fabulous fella to the Sutton walk today held by Heather. Ged was absolutely fantastic with small fluffy dogs and walked so well on the lead. He spent the afternoon with Neil and Adrian and their grey James and I collected him a short while ago. He has just had his dinner and is fast asleep in the armchair. He met all of our 6 greys and 2 extras and has been fantastic.

Good to here, would have liked to foster him ourselves but he wouldn't be keen on the cats lol Hope he settles in well, i'm sure he will xxxx

Wednesday 18 May 22:04

Zion has settled back into kennel life amazingly well - he just hopped on to his bed and we didn't hear a murmur from him.... bless him. He has come back with a very short tail and a glowing report from his mum who could not keep him. It sounds as though he has tolerated a lot in his previous home and has been returned through no fault of his own. He is house trained, can be left on his own, however is not too good with very small fluffy breeds. We hope this lovely boy will find another home very soon x
