I guess after 134 races it must be hard for Huggie to stop chasing anything small and fluffy....but I am sure with your help he will succeed. He is a very handsome lad. xxx

Huggie's lovely character is really coming through now and he is settling well. There is still lots of work needed with our cat but we are all trying hard and Huggie is enjoying himself in the meantime.

Huggie is so well behaved around the house and is adorable, we are really hoping our cat will soon start to feel the same!!! He is excellent in the park and eating and sleeping very well. We are hoping the weekend bring more progress with our cat.

Glad that Huggie is slowly settling in with the cats. Give him a big hug from me, I am so glad he has a new home and I hope that it will be forever as he deserves it. He is such a good natured dog and was getting lots of fuss from children on the roadshow.

Huggie had a good first night. Slept very well as he was tired after his walk in the park yesterday. He is very well behaved, but we still need to work very hard as Huggie and our cat are very wary of each other. We are hoping they start getting on a bit better today. Huggie has certainly made himself at home.

Huggie came home with me tonight as he is coming to the Solihull roadshow tomorrow to show how handsome he is.He has met the cats and although seemed a little interested at first, a sharp no was all it took to divert his interest, he is now ignoring them. He has had a lovely run around the garden and is very well behaved, greeting us often with a very waggy tail and lots of licks, shame the Williams house is full or I would be so tempted, someone out there is going to get a wonderful companion, fingers crossed someone falls in love with him tomorrow.

totally agree with you ruth- our male dog duffy was totally freaked out by my grandson when we first had him especially if he squealed or cried- you gave us alot of support and the answer for us was stair gates so that the dogs could go and have sanctuary in the kitchen we also played tapes of babies and children laughing and crying all the time in the background- slowly we introduced the 2 together and now they love each other- my granson oliver lies on the beds with the dogs and they follow him around constantly-also i found it,s the way you react with the two together the dog always looks to you for direction-plus i loved duffy so much i was willing to try for as long as poss to make it work

Safety of children is always of the utmost importance, however equally the dog also needs to be protected and respected. I have seen photos in the past of dogs laying asleep on the floor with a child laying across them. We always say that a dog must be respected at all times especially when on their bed or asleep. I am not doubting the circumstances relayed by Huggie's owners but need to reiterate that it is not always the dog at fault.

This is Huggies owner...he is a lovely, loyal well behaved dog....who we all loved and will miss very much...unfortunately this wasnt an isolated incident he has nipped at my grandchildren a couple of times in the past.....hence us always putting a muzzle on him when children are around. This time it would have been much more than a nip if he wasnt wearing a muzzle and we feel as we have chilren visiting our house regularly it is best for everyone to return Huggie...i wouldnt hesitate to say that he would be fine for anyone without children or older children and he is brilliant with other dogs large and small as stated...we were also able to let him off a lead and he would come bk when called. I really hope he finds a new home soon.

Was this a one off or has it been an ongoing issue? If it was a one off have the family thought of attending a training class or perhaps looking at how they could manage the situation forthe safety of both dog and friends child? It seems a shame to return Huggie if this was an isolated incident.

I have given my cuddle to fire today (as is my recent ritual!) but now i wished i'd have given it to poor huggie. I always feel most sad about the dogs who are returned, who have known a comfy sofa. It must be so distressing for them and for their ex family. Bless im! Hope he finds somewhere ASAP XX

Huggie has been returned today after being in a home since January 2011 by his owner who was very upset. He is good with other greys as the family did have another but returned her last year after she kept escaping from their home.

I have been told that he knocked over a child belonging to a friend yesterday and the comments on the return form state 'He went for one of the grandchildren'.

He is extremely stressed at being back at the kennels and crying a lot and due to the comments from his owner, he would be best homed with older children or someone without children.
