Sorry rosie... I got over excited thinking joey had a new girlfriend lol! At least he had a playmate for the evening and u got the feel for having a second hound, and suzy got to have her home comforts insteads of spending the night at the kennels. Everyones a winner :o) hope suzy gets on well in her new home, she is a little star! Xxxxxxx

Today was 7 days since Suzy was picked up as a stray - nearly hit by a car but luckily wasn't. She was brought to us without an ID tag on her collar and the microchip details were not up to date as the owners had moved - therefore we were unable to locate her owners.

However, we managed to get a message through to her owners from the boarding kennels that looked after them recently that she was in the care of Daybreaks by mid week. Up until today we sadly had still heard nothing.

Today her owner came in and signed her over to the Trust.

As fate plays a hand, a lovely family came along today and chose her. I have just come back from their home visit and have left Suzy with them.

I am glad she is safe and sound which is all that matters......

this is Kizzie/Suzys owner...I feel really sad when i read this. We loved her very much and tried everything in our power, but she kept getting out of our garden. we picked her up on 8 seperate occasions from different places including the dogs home..she had a tag on with her name and phone number and was registered with petlog. The last time she got out we looked everywhere for her and asumed thay she had been taken in by someone when we couldnt find her...We was devostated when we found out that she had been hit by a car and taken to daybreaks....we talked and sadly decided for her own safety it was best if she was rehomed. She is a beautiful dog, brilliant with children and other dogs loves loads of fuss and will make someone a fantastice pet. Please dont judge us we have got another grey which we also had from daybreaks who is loved and well looked after.....i think Ruth and the other staff from daybreaks will agree she wasnt neglected and was very healthy...all i hope is she finds a lovely home we all miss her very much and only want what is best for her......good luck Kizzie xxx

Fi - what are you like!! We didn't reserve Suzy, Josh took her back today and a family fell in love with her while he was there! So Josh took her for a walk with them (and Cara...!!!) and they have reserved her :) SO happy she found a new home so quickly! I did love her, but she wasn't right for our home really, we are looking for a slightly older and more sedate girlfriend for Joey I think :) xxx

We have had Suzy today for an overnight stay and so far she has been absolutely wonderful. She is very playful and still quite puppy-like - great fun! We introduced her to our cats and she showed no malice, just excitement and that she clearly wanted to play. She will almost certainly be able to be re-homed with cats given enough time and training. She has responded well so far to commands and loved the hour-long walk with our Joey. We met a young family whilst out walking and she was great with their toddlers, letting them poke her in the nose and not batting an eyelid!

Currently she is curled up on the sofa with some friends of ours, even be-friending the one person in the room who is supposedly scared of dogs...hopefully she will find a loving home soon!

This is a very sad state of affairs. My wish for Suzy is that Ruth can find her a new home as soon as possible once all of the red tape is out of the way. Sending her my cuddle today. xx

Once the local authority has been informed, surely Daybreaks can legally rehome Suzy after 7 days with the previous owners losing any rights to her? Good luck little one xxx

Words fail me, it sounds horribly as though they didn't want her and either allowed her to get out, or even worse dumped her......
It makes my blood boil, all they had to do is contact the kennels for help!

I have been given a message through Bark Inn Kennels that the owners of Suzy do not want her back. However, until I hear directly from them, we are unable to make her available for rehoming. Sadly she is back at the kennels tonight.......

Tuesday 18 Oct 21:28

Hi Simon&Jay - first thing I did was contact Petlog.... the chip details are the ones we submitted when she was homed in Feb. The house she is registered to is now let out and I have contacted the letting agency who told me they have been in touch with the owners and they were going to call me......

by Simon,Jan&Jet

Tuesday 18 Oct 20:46

I'm sure you've already thought about this, but is she not chipped? Perhaps that info may be more up to date?

We have had Suzy brought in as a stray after being almost run over on Sunday. I have tried to no avail to contact her owners as they have moved and we have no current contact details for them. If you know her owners, or have any information, please let me know. As we are so full at the kennels I have brought her home with me and she is fast asleep and has been golden.

Suzy's trainer dropped her at the vets this morning for her spey and I collected her following her op this afternoon. She is the most beautiful girl - she has been panting quite a bit but so understandable as she has been through being speyed and coming to an unknown environment in our house. Mary, Angel and our 6 have made her feel very welcome and she is as we speak asleep on her bed in the middle of the lounge!
