It is the post no-one wants to write. We are absolutely devastated to have lost our boy today. One minute he was trotting happily around the park, and then when we got home he was taken ill - and at the vets we learned he had a tumour on his spleen and also unknown to us, a very weak heart. So we've had to say goodbye tonight. We are broken. Casper, we couldn't have loved you more. We are going to miss you horribly. Sleep well boy, we were so lucky to have you as part of our family.

Hi Ruth, yes please put us down for 11am. We've just been walking in the fields this afternoon and I think a spa would have been just the job today. He's muddy from head to toe. Don't you just love this weather!

We have had Caspar for nearly a year.Time has flown. He's very happy and settled. Long walks in the fields have given him muscle tone to die for which is all the more clear to see as a black dog with a shiny coat! Think he's more grey in the muzzle now though - must be the stress of living with us! He's an attention seeker and loves his cuddles. Will do just about anything for a treat as those who go to Julie's Saturday training session can testify. In fact, he happily eats anything going - and has eaten all of the strawberries growing in the garden, plus he's chewed up flower pots and is rather partial to the odd glove, which unlike Norris, he prefers to socks. If I dig the garden, he will come and join in. He hasn't managed to identify weeds from plants yet though (more training needed...)

Despite his irrepressable appetite, he has settled as one of the family and we all love having him around. He just needs a brother or sister to live with now.... have considered 'fostering' another greyhound, but husband saw straight through me!

We have had Jim (now called Caspar) for over three weeks and he has settled in brilliantly. We all absolutely love him. He is so affectionate and happy to be in a home. He has put on weight and loves running in the fields near our house - and yes, he is even coming back when we call him!

We feel so fortunate to have been able to home such a wonderful greyhound and having Caspar around has really helped us to cope with the loss of our previous grey. Thanks to all who looked after him at Daybreaks before he came to us. You do a fantastic job!

Ruth - we've had him vaccinated but we are not going to forward the bill (didn't want you to think we've forgotten to get it done!)

My cuddle goes to Jim today as my husband thinks he looks like our wonderful James. My hubby loves the male black greyhounds and we are always happy when they find a home.
