Kelly

female, 23 years old, Black and White

Added by DaybreaksRuth

Updated: Friday 05 Jan

This little girl is being returned to the Trust after 7 years in a home. Sadly her elderly owner is no longer able to care for her.
She has lived with a small breed dog but is not cat friendly. She just needs a home to call hers for her twilight years..... we hope she finds this very soon. She will stop at my house until we can find new owners for her.

Kelly has had 0 cuddles today (60 all together).
If you register or login, you can give her a cuddle too!

Loads of hugs to help you through this bad time!
So sorry to hear your news about Kelly.
You did give her a lovely end to her life, but I don't suppose that helps at the moment but I hope it will be some comfort to you in the future!!

I have just had the saddest news that the beautiful Kelly had a heart attack at lunchtime and sadly passed away. I am forever grateful to Deb and her wonderful family who gave her a fabulous home after being returned last year. She was a beautiful girl and I know she was very much loved - something I wish every greyhound could have. Run free Kelly - you have your angel wings now xxxxx

Sunday 18 Mar 10:25

Hi everyone. I have had the best mother's day gift in the whole world!! I opened a card "to mom love from Kelly" followed by her adoption pack. My guys had organised it all with Ruth & now she officially my baby!

Then, when I looked at the pack, on the inside cover who did I see, but beautiful Maisie, Kiera & Lady looking at me from the Damson House Vet advert :-)

I am a very happy mommy today!! Big hugs Ruth, thank you XX

Well done Kelly I heard Ruth say that you were going to be rehomed!

by skinnyme

Wednesday 29 Feb 09:52

I always use aloe Vera gel on any sore dry patches that mine develop, if they do lick it it's a totally natural product so won't do any harm.

by court-family

Wednesday 29 Feb 08:03

Hi guys, just a quickie - Kelly has developed a bit of a sore patch on the area outside of her elbow. She is licking & licking, making it very wet/sore. Any ideas? If i put anything soothing on it, it just encourages her to lick more & a bandage won't stay put as its an awkward place! Any advice . . . Ruth?? X

Sunday 26 Feb 20:55

You'd have to fight me for her!! x

Friday 24 Feb 11:48

I would love to see a picture of her on her beanbag! I knew she would be so happy with you, not surprised she wants to stay!! xxx

by court-family

Wednesday 22 Feb 11:32

Kelly has now mastered the art of beanbag perching & she has claimed them as her own! It is so funny to watch as she gets herself all balanced & sorted. None of the other girls have ever tried to sleep on them, so she has us rolling about in stitches!

What an absolute gem she is & she has told us that she wants to stay forever, so who am I to argue!? :-)

Quick update from Kelly.

I love it here, I get so many cuddles from everyone & my new sisters are lovely to snuggle up with. I spotted Ellie cat through the window yesterday, & although she looked quite interesting & my ears pricked up, I didn't make a fuss. I am eating up my yummies that Auntie Ruth gave to my new Dad yesterday & have had no accidents in the house. There are lots of toys to chase & catch (which made everyone laugh) & I showed off sitting & giving paw for treats too. There is always someone to cuddle up with on the sofa & yesterday I spent all afternoon snugged up to Dad being fussed for the whole of the rugby. I am a very happy little girlie :-)

by court-family

Friday 10 Feb 18:13

Kelly has found the toy box & it's so funny to watch her playing! She had us in stitches too, when she tried to perch herself on the kids' beanbag in front of the tv! Hilarious!

Hi Ruth. All good here so far. Kelly has met all of the girls & after lots of wags & sniffing, all are nicely aquainted! We have been for a walk which was uneventful & all snoozing now after tea (all eaten, & poo & wee in the garden). You are right though, she is sitting here staring at me as I am typing!!! :-D

Kelly was a brillliant ambassador for Daybreaks at Sutton Park yesterday. Perfect in everyway! xxxx

by Deb

Sunday 29 Jan 16:22

Saw this little girl at Sutton today she is so petite and I cant believe she is 11 years old or should that be young. She has a sunny disposition and loved all the attention she was getting especially the treats. Her tail was constantly wagging and she has the most beautiful coat. She was so friendly to everyone ,people, greys and other breeds alike.
She will make a fabulous addition to any household and she is so beautiful and lapped up all the attention that was bestowed upon her by an admiring audience!!

by DaybreaksRuth

Saturday 28 Jan 02:35

I really hope someone could find it in their heart to offer Kelly a home. She is the sweetest girl who is great with other greys. She loves to play with her toys and is very affectionate.

Good news to hear her results look promising. It was lovely to meet her at the weekend, she really is beautiful. I am sure being at Daybreaks has given her a new lease of life. xxx

Monday 23 Jan 20:50

Kelly has settled so well at ours. The first results have come through showing all her vital organs are fine (such as liver and kidneys) as she has been having a few problems with dilute urine. After a course of antibiotics she is doing much better and other than the odd accident now, she has settled so very well at our house. She is lovely, playful and very affectionate..... I hope someone will offer a home soon x

Wednesday 18 Jan 21:21

Could be diabetes, was there any glucose in the urine?

by DaybreaksRuth

Wednesday 18 Jan 20:53

Kelly is drinking a lot and is having lots of very small wee's. I therefore took her to the vets on Friday with a sample of her urine and another one today. Her urine sample taken today still shows her urine is very diluted. She is going to the vets tomorrow to be admitted for blood tests to try and ascertain what is causing this..... I will keep you posted.

She is being such a good girl at ours - she has settled so well, loves playing with her toys and gets on great with all our greys.

how generous! that is a really lovely thing to do xxxxxx

by DaybreaksRuth

Saturday 14 Jan 19:16

I took Kelly to the vets yesterday. Whilst in the waiting room the other clients asked me about her. I told them that she had sadly lost her home but I was concerned about her general health. They asked me about how we get the funding to pay for such things as vet fees and I replied this was through voluntary donations and fundraising events through the volunteers and supporters of the Trust.

An elderly couple left with their small dog but then came back into the vets moments later and handed me a donation. It was a very very generous donation of £50! I was overwhelmed at their generosity and this has been put towards the care of Kelly whilst she waits to find another home.

We sometimes concentrate on the difficult times we go through but often we are lifted by wonderful people. Thank you to the anonymous people who helped Kelly and to everyone who supports us to help these greys into homes.

Kelly is on antibiotics for her urinary problem and inflammed gums and we hope she improves soon.

I picked up Kelly today. We put her in the treatment room after sorting her nails and teeth and before we knew it she was on her back, legs in the air! I have brought her home and although she has been panting like crazy (probably really tired after her walk we have just come back from) she has now fallen asleep on the sofa! Bless her - she is gorgeous. x
