Hi everyone, You'll never guess, but Auntie Ruth's matchdog.com has given me an internet date !!! Wow. On monday my pets and I popped into the kennels to see if this dog computer dating can work. .... well.... I met a gorgeous boy, and tried to play with him, but we didn't quite hit it off, then Toby appeared around the corner. WHAT A HUNK !!!! We got on like a " kennels on fire". Auntie Ruth said that he needed a new home today, so he came back with us to Derby. When I showed him my home, he wanted to share my bed .... on the first date too.... well as anyone knows that is not done, so I had to give him a little growl to remind him that he can't take liberties with such a cute young lady. My pets bought him his own bed and we have "shared bedroom with twin beds". I've already taught him that the table is very accessible for morsels when the pets aren't looking !! He's a quick learner. I've taught him to run up the stairs as quickly as possible and come down slowly.....he's got the idea. Chat soon Love Fearne XXX

Hi, I am feeling braver now and the stable door has been miraculously left open, so no need to jump over it. I still follow mum around, but have learnt that when they are in the shower I will be taken by the collar and returned to my bed. I get the hint !!!! I still sleep with mum, but she goes off to work at night, and as every grey knows, a grey can sleep all day. Only been a couple of weeks and the walks with my pet, Eric, are great. Auntie Ruth has given my pets lots of sensible advice and Auntie Ina has made sure that my new home is just what I need, and gives me cuddles when we visit her. Will keep you informed.

Hi Fearne Just explain to them that you're still worried about your new world and just need to stay near familiar people and they'll understand that you're only a little girl - and only 3... you'll get braver over time though it may be you'll be happier with another greyhound friend to hold your paw when your hooman pets are out .. aunti Ruth can let your hoomans have another greyhound or two :) then you won't have to cuddle up to your hooman pets for comfort :) Love Charlie lurcher who has most of the hooman bed at home :)

Oh fearnie you are a little minx- my latest boy rick was a bit like fearn- I think it,s just a case of settling espec as like my rick she was a returnee- rick followed us around constantly at first and we found that leaving him for small amounts of time at first and then longer and longer he got the message you may have to put up with the bed situation although I found if you keep coming down and giving reassurance then eventually they stop whining at night I don,t know what to suggest about gate jumping though mine were n,t clever enough to try that one- best of luck

Hi everyone. As you know I have a new home !! Well.. what can I say. The bed is brillant, food good, treats to die for BUT... I have to ask your help. You see my new pets have read the wrong books and been given very poor advice. Is there anyone out there who can help a poor grey called Fearn. My pets are completly clueless. They seem to think that when they close the "stable door" (am I a horse??) I am expected to STAY in the kitchen. REALLY !! I just jump over it and then they seem put out that I want to follow them around. ANOTHER thing ..... please someone explain that their bed is big enough for the three of us. My mother pet was upset that I wanted to share the bed.... all children want to sleep with mum and dad surely. I think if I whine a lot and cry... maybe they will give in and let me share. What do you think Auntie Ruth..... Could you please put in a word for me. ove Fearn

I just kept looking back at Fearnes face everyday and feeling sad so this news is Fantastic .
I just hope that the new owners use the support and advice that Daybreaks gives and this forum to tell us all about the good times and the not so easy times , the not so easy times soon become fond , lasting, funny and great memories as your new dog starts to understand just how loving us humans can be and then brings you a washing up sponge from the kitchen sink to say thank you...

All the best Fearne and your new owners...( and if you need and more inspiration look at dog 770)

So so tempted to bring this beautiful girl home, though not sure we're the right home for her. If she were to be restless when we go out I don't think the others (especially Magic and Mick) would take too kindly to it. There are times she'd have to be left for 7 or 8 hours (1 week in three). This is such a tough one :( xxxx

Couldn't agree more Jeff - at the end of the day it's quite simple really, if you're not prepared to put in the time & effort required then don't take the dog. my advice - please stick with it, the first few nights home our beautiful boy Shane chewed his way through the surround & scratched the door to try to get to us - but with time & patience we got over it and had 4 years of love, fun & a brilliant companion before we lost him last year. I sometimes feel people view rehoming with rose-tinted glasses "look what a good thing I've done" without fully appreciating all that's required. But rest assured - it is so worth it.

I feel this should be a duplicate post on Carries page , but separation anxiety can take time , but Im happy to report my first poo and wee free day today whilst I was at work thats about 2 months , it takes time and alot of patience , a nice sign is that is happening alot now is a chair I have in one of the bedrooms Carrie has access to during the day is always "slept in" when I get home , showing that she is finding somewhere to settle during the day apart from her bed......

Surely there is SOMEONE out there , who no matter what happens , warts and all is prepared to follow to the letter the advice thats available and slowly but surely get the rewards that Im sure Fearne will bring given time and patience , when you realise most of the time its not the dog thats the problem , its the way YOU act or re-act to their behavior , regardless of their background ,that one simple tip becomes a revelation

Hi BELLA, Fearne is definitely a girl who loves the boys! She is much happier with the company of Norris than she was with a couple of girls we introduced her. She is even happier with human company and would certainly suit a home where she is not left for long.

This little girl might be happy with two girls to play with in a home? We are waiting for best time to pop up with our Bella. She had anxiety issues to extreme when she was younger. It is hard and takes time but very well worth it. Fearne sounds a lovely girl. XxX

Tuesday 29 May 15:49

I popped in today to get some food for my lovely marney (omani) and the first face i saw was Fearne's. She gave me a big lick on the hand and looked so happy and in lovely condition. I really hope the fact she experienced 'seperation anxiety' doesnt stop people from coming to see her or considering her for adoption. We have had our Marney (omani) for 8 weeks now and she had seperation anxiety, this was not only distressing for her, but it was also really upsetting for us (to a point where we thought it was unfair to keep her on). We stayed in contact with daybreaks and followed all the advice given and did lots of our own research into how we could help her. She is now settled and an absolute character and star! I feel for her last owner/s as it is in no way an easy decision to make. I obviously cant comment on their circumstances as i dont know, however we were fortunate enough to have no other commitments when we took on Marney. it was hard work (and still is at times!) however worth it. Good Luck Fearne x

Poor thing, am always astonished at the cruelty of humans ! Find it soooo hard to understand. Just glad she has been rescued and now has a chance of living a wonderful life (and hopefully will forget the harm done to her). Love to you Fern, I suspect you will get loads of love now xxxx

What can you say to that history that could be put on the website without being censored. This has made me sad as this was possibly the same history as my lurchers . I am sure Michelle has given Fern lots of TLC and hopefully she will have a home in the non too distant future. Good luck tonight Ruth -could be interesting.

Fern is not a tattooed greyhound but was witnessed being thrown out of a car. She has been rehabilitating at Michelle's kennels (Bark Inn) and she is being speyed today and will come home with me tonight. She is fantastic with people but prefers to be on her own as she can be a bit grumbly with other dogs...... we shall see what she thinks of our house later with my 6, Red and Kylie the other grey being speyed today!
