Just found out some incredible information on the greyhound data website.
The dog we lost just before Christmas (Our Boy Bremner), had a racing name of "Ballyrussel Ace". His Great Grandad was "Whisper Wishes"
Isla's racing name was "Cornforth Friend", Isla's Great Great Grandad was....................................... you've guessed it " Wisper Wishes".
So Bremner was Isla's Uncle.
If ever a dog was meant for us it had to be Isla.

Isla's been dog about town at the Christmas Fayre in Worcester today.She really enjoyed most of Mum & Dad's pork sandwich, & all the admiring comments & cuddles.

It was lovely to meet Isla & her new mum & dad at Sutton Park - I think she has found herself an ideal home. Isla & our grey Rosie both want remote control cars for Xmas , they were both very interested watching the one in the park. Isla if you are reading this; keep asking for fuss & behave yourself cos I think this home was worth the long wait!

Hello All,
Took Isla to training tonight. A massive thanks to all the volenteers who have taken her before. She responded great to the wait command & waited for me to get back to her before moving. She is showing fantastic potential. She's only been with us for a couple of days, but we're sure were a match made in heaven.

Ha, ha. We had the same issue when we reserved our boy. He was called Gent in the kennels, but my other half had always said his next dog would be called Montgomery! Far too posh for me to yell in the park, so after an hour in the pub we arrived at ........ Gent! Isla is a beautiful name and looks like it'll suit her. She certainly has an emormous fan-club, so please keep us updated. Mand x

Hello all we're Cornelia's new Mum & Dad.
We took here out this morning & fell in love with her straight away.
Must say it's very humbling to see all the comments & to know how much you all love her.
We promise you we'll take great care of her, & she'll be coming to a loving home. We've had greys before & know what lovely pets they make.
We'll keep you posted on her progress & can't wait until Saturday now to pick her up.

Made my weekend! Miss Cornelia your reserved sign along with Miss Katie's rehomed sign has made us soooo happy(that and our boys winning yesterday). Raising money at Aldridge is great but seeing your signs turn red & green is priceless!! Be good & good luck to you both and your new families x x x

Ha ha Cornelia is so loving & a little bouncy - no sign of being down in the dumps when I popped by today. She adored Heather and gave me a good few bumps for attention! Sweet as this one.

I think Cornelia was a bit lonely when Katie first left. She lay quietly on her bed and looked subdued. I hope she is feeling less lonely today in the company of her brother, Piglett.

Cornelia thinks she's a lap dog, she sat on me today while I sat in her kennel. She also lay down for a belly rub and when I stop she pawed me to carry on! Love her she's amazing!

Cornforth Friend was her racing name being a mans best friend is her game! Took this little star to the show today and she was absolulty golden. She mixed with other greys and other breeds easily (being careful with the small furries), walked like a dream, traveled in the car beautifully just hope you caught someones eye and there's a forever home around the corner for you. One word really BOSTIN x x x x x x x

Ok Cornelia early to bed tonight no gassing all night with Katie. Make sure hair's brushed nails done and teeth cleaned and we'll take you to the show tomorrow, and with fingers, paws, legs crossed we'll find some hoomans that might want you to share their sofa!! x x

Took Cornelia to training today, and what a little smasher she is! A quick sniff hello with Frankie then she jumped straight in the back of the car and lay right down with not a peep 'til we got to training. Luckily it was quite a small group today so it wasn't too scary for her. I couldn't believe how well she responded to the little training she's already had; she immediately looked to me when I said "here" (and of course reinforced that with some cheese), and her little head was whipping back and forth everytime the clicker went off which meant I had to be really on the ball as each time she looked at me when the clicker went off (whether it was meant for her or not!) she had a treat!

On the way out, the next group were starting to assemble in the car park, including a few non-greys, and Cornelia just looked at them, but as soon as I said "here" her attention was back on me and she happily trotted off to do a wee with the others!

Feeling buoyed by the succesful training session which included her ignoring fluffy toys dogs, I decided to take her back to my house so she could meet my cats. Well, she wasn't quite so responsive to "here" or "leave" in this case - sorry sweetie but you have failed your cat test!

Cornelia walks beautifully on the lead but is a strong girl when she wants to be. She's interested in everything, loves to please, will attack you with kisses, loved my kids and will do anything (apart from leave the cats alone) for a piece of cheese! I think with greys it can be easy to do the bare minimum amount of training and still end up with a reasonably well-behaved dog (I'm guilty of this myself too). I'm afraid this approach simply won't cut the mustard with this lovely girl. She is so clever and switched on that she deserves someone who can commit to training her and then enjoy the rewards by watching her develop into a truly exceptional pet.

I'm unable to make training for the next two weeks, so if anybody can take Cornelia then I think it would do her the world of good - just let Ruth know if you can help.

Cornelia you too should b in your forever home by now. U love to play, especially with your ball n with a bit of training will get used to the strange looking dogs that frighten u. Hope your new home isn't to far away. I also think Katie n Cornelia would love the company of another grey in their new home so they can build confidence with other dogs n have a play mate.

Happy birthday for yesterday, Cornelia!

Well I'm not sure that the lovely Cornelia had an ideal birthday but she did have lots of hot dog sausages :) I took her out for a walk with Amy and Paul and two other greys .. we'd done a bit of Clicker training before we set off and Cornelia was wearing a nice harness made by Mekuti with one of their double ended leads (we use them all the time in TTouch) When she does something really good like look away from a bouncy dog or from a scarey thing .. like the loose labrador in the lane :( she gets a really nice treat to show her that was just what was wanted :). Cornelia was very quick to understand and I used the word 'here' when I wanted her to look at me or come .. she stared at a squirrel but didn't do anything else then I asked her to come 'here' and she walked off with me so got a reward. She was quite worried by the loose lab and was panting as he headed our way but then he stayed by his car so she walked past him tho couldn't eat a treat :( on the way back we just walked a bit quicker past him and she made no other reaction so she got a nice treat for being such a brave girl again :) She's very bright and picks things up quickly so hopefully someone will love to have such a clever grey as a pet :) Julie x

Jak and Cornelia went for a walk to Brueton Park with Karen and Norman today, they met many other dogs including small fluffies, of the two Cornelia was the one who didnt like the little dogs, although by the end of the walk she was a little better and by and large ignored them as long as they didnt come to near, I have to add though that she was never aggresive, both were ok with bigger dogs.

Still thinking about you and hoping that you will soon find your furever home, gorgeous girlie.

So sad to see greys being returned from homes with children. Roxy and baby Sadie are the best of friends after we worked very hard to make sure Roxy knew how to understand and ignore Sadie's squeals and screams. Our job now as Sadie grows is to teach her to respect Roxy and her needs and I hope they continue to be friends for a long time yet. Good luck Cornelia and Huggie too that you find special (quiet!) homes soon. xx

Sadly Cornelia was getting too excited when the 18 month old child in the family screamed or cried. The family were really upset at returning her but felt it was the best thing to do. She is back in her kennel with her best mate Katie :-)
