"Baxter" continues to be a Joy. He and Diesel are being good mates, and each are playing with the toys. Diesel seems so small COMPARED to Baxter, the BIG boy that he is. Baxter is still fascinated by everything I do, and everything in the outside world. So glad he is "in our life" Diesel was glad to be back at Julie's club, and Baxter joined in and was a good boy.
Thursday 17 Jan 12:08
Fantastic news. Be happy Baxter!
Wednesday 16 Jan 18:20
YES!!! Signed the Papers with Ruth yesterday, and he is now in our care and home. All of us settling in together, and "Buster" learning each day. "Buster" will now be BAXTER (to which he is responding). So, yes, Diesel, Baxter and Marcia will be at Julie's club on saturday morning.
Thanks to you all for your comments. Marcia and David

Monday 14 Jan 15:56
Buster and Diesel getting on well, no problems there. Buster has learned so much, now stands behind us when we are preparing food, waiting at door ways. Loves cuddles, as does Diesel, but appreciates when "enough is enough" - I get mugged,
Thursday 10 Jan 15:21
Hi, it's really great news that Buster has settled down well at his foster home and that it looks as if it may turn out to be permanent. Can't wait to hear the news that I have been waiting to hear for so long, that Buster is happy and having fun in his new home. Heres hoping Buster!
Sunday 06 Jan 22:22
Gosh he worked hard didn't he? 77 races and inthe first three 40 times ... he really deserves his sofa :) J x
Sunday 06 Jan 21:43
Buster has settled extremely well, and Diesel is a happy boy too (eating well, which he really hasn't done since we lost Brillo in April) I have been fascinated to see Buster's reaction to being in a home, exploring and scenting everything, Paddled well thru the mud and puddles on Julie's walk yesterday, my Husband said I could have ridden him! I am small, and Buster is a BIG lad. So far, so good/ hopefully here to stay!!!
Saturday 05 Jan 21:01
Buster be a good boy for your foster family (human and that Saluki boy) cos if you are you might just find yourself the best home ever!Like Ruth says I am also keeping everything crossed for him.

Wednesday 02 Jan 11:41
I couldn't believe it when I read about my poor Buster back at the kennels, at least I know that he will be getting extra love. I'm unable to visit this week so please give him a kiss from me and I hope he finds a new home soon. Must go now, need to find a new box of tissues. xxx Not for you Ruth, it's for Buster
Monday 31 Dec 17:19
Oh my poor Buster - it must be so confusing for you when one cat lets you "play" and another is frightened of you, what are you to do? Other creatures can be quite daunting when you've not seen them before, so we just need to get you used to the outside world a bit more my poppett. Cuddles. xx
Monday 31 Dec 14:56
Aaaw bless him Ruth. So sweet to be wanting to sniff & wash them......poor little fella for being frightened by the pup. He is absolutely gorgeous, so it hopefully won't be long before he trots off to his forever sofa. xx
Monday 31 Dec 14:55
what o buster how can anyone not love you. if i was in a different position i would give you a lovely home. thinking i may move back to a house with a garden soon. in midlands. xxxxxx
Monday 31 Dec 13:50
Oh Buster, never mind you are such a good boy and that lovely and favourite colour of mine....black, that I am sure a new home is around the corner for you. xxx
Monday 31 Dec 13:06
Buster is cat friendly - but he likes to get close to them to sniff and wash them - as he did on his cat test. Sadly he was unable to do this in his new home as the cats became petrified of him.
We had a visit from an Afghan puppy yesterday and tried to introduce him and Buster was petrified..... his tail went between his legs and he wouldn't go near and turned away back into the kennels :-(
He is such a fabulous boy and if I wasn't looking after Lachlan at home at the moment for a friend, he would be at our house. He is a gentle, lovely boy who just needs some time and patience in a new home if he is to live with other animals.
Monday 31 Dec 13:01
Ah well, I can relate to the cat problem. Here's to a cat free home soon for lovely Buster x
Monday 31 Dec 12:34
Sadly, I can relate to this, I'm sure we will find a lovely new home for Buster soon. xx
Monday 31 Dec 12:22
Poor boy, still I'm sure a cat free home will be just around the corner x
Monday 31 Dec 11:23
So is buster still cat friendly, just didn't get on with the owners cat?
Monday 31 Dec 11:10
It must have been a very difficult decision, especially as he did seem very cat friendly when you tested him, but it was the right 1 for them. Thinking of them and their cat as well as poor Buster. xx
A friend of ours took on a Grey (from a rescue). Been in the home 3 hours, had tea and she let him into the garden after with no muzzle on. He leapt up to drag the cat off of the shed roof and although he didn't kill it instantly it had to be PTS (RIP Lisa) They were obviously devastated :-(
I am sure that someone will be along to give Buster a home very soon xx
Monday 31 Dec 10:25
oh poor buster never mind auntie ruth will sort you out- let me just say i have three greyhounds none of which are cat friendly and my cat lives quite happily upstairs and goes in and out through the bedroom window thumbing his nose at the dogs as he goes- i,ve found stair gates very useful for keeping them separate- my old greys were cat friendly but it took us about six months to achieve it- will give you cuddles on wednesday buster you are a lovely boy xx
Monday 31 Dec 10:03
Sadly Buster was showing interest in the cats who kept appearing and disappearing and the cats also became distressed by having a dog in the house. It was a difficult decision for Buster's owners who feel they have made the right decision and for this, we must support them.
Monday 31 Dec 09:25
Now I know we don't know the reasons yet, but goodness me, he's only been gone a couple of days... Poor Buster :(
Sunday 30 Dec 21:28
Buster you are black, beautiful and cat friendly, what more could anyone wish for, new home coming up soon Im sure! x
Sunday 30 Dec 18:14

Dear Santa, please can you bring Buster a lovely new home for Christmas? He has waited very patiently & I'm sure you must know of someone who is wishing for a handsome black greyhound to make their home complete this Christmas...
Saturday 08 Dec 17:51
Buster ...still as handsome as ever ..i don't understand why he is still in the kennels. He's perfect, affectionate, loves cuddles, walks great on the lead! Hopefully the lovely couple who he met today will give him a good home. :-)
Saturday 08 Dec 17:16
Walked buster today, he walked very well on the lead and was very interested in everything. A lovely boy. x
Friday 07 Dec 20:45
I hope this lad gets snapped up this weekend, he really is adorable :) xx
Friday 07 Dec 20:15
You will have the right 1 for you when the time is right Bonnie!
I decided to not 'do' cards this year and instead I bought some things and made a hamper out of them all and donated it to Daybreaks. Gave me much more pleasure!
This Christmas I have my beautiful big black boy Bob :-)
Friday 07 Dec 13:13
Hi Bonnie, I'm sorry you aren't able to offer one of these beautiful dogs a home just yet, but I am sure when you are ready there will be the perfect four legged friend waiting for you. xxx
Friday 07 Dec 08:56
wish i was in a position to love and give him a home. not in our iow house till april. xx after this year i am not buying presents at all i am donating my money to this wonderful greyhound rescue instead. i always get things i dont want anyway. lol. xxx
Wednesday 05 Dec 14:49
My cuddle goes to lovely Buster today, who is still waiting patiently for his forever home. Hope he won't have to wait too much longer. xxx
Saturday 01 Dec 19:50
buster met a small whippet x saluki and a medium saluki today and was amazing i think he made some new friends!
Saturday 01 Dec 18:18
Such great news that Tom will be going to a home. Whilst it makes my day every time I see any of the greys rehomed, I can't help but notice that a lot of the girls fly out of the door and the beautiful black boys have to wait longer. Buster is amazing and I hope it will be his turn very soon. I hope you get there Bonnie - I am also trying all my powers of persuasion with husband. Kids have looked at the site this evening and there's a majority vote of three in favour - they loved him when they met him a few weeks ago and I think he would make a great family pet. C'mon Buster, nuzzle into anyone who comes to visit and they will find it hard not to fall in love with you, as the three of us have.
Friday 23 Nov 09:28
he is lovely his eyes just melt me. i am getting there ruth. xx
Saturday 17 Nov 17:05
Had such a lovely time with the gorgeous Buster today. He didn't react to the barking lab at the farm and enjoyed his walk - he walks beautifully. Back in the kennels, as his legs were so dirty from the mud in the lane, I bent down to clean them, he was as good as gold and patiently let me clean each leg, then gave me a big kiss!! Such a fantastic boy. x
Friday 16 Nov 22:34
he looks cheeky those beautiful eyes. x
Friday 16 Nov 12:02
Great new pic Buster. Loving the long nose. You get my hug today, hope you also get a new home soon :)
Sunday 04 Nov 14:50
I love the new pic. Buster has such a long handsome face. Still working on the husband. I love this grey! I hope he is in a home very soon (and preferably mine!).
Saturday 03 Nov 17:23
Buster is a lovely boy, he gets excited when you go to his kennel as he can't wait to come out and be outside!! A lovely, big boy who adores a fuss. Cuddles to you lovely boy. x
Friday 02 Nov 16:59
I think buster needs an update in his pics
Thursday 25 Oct 22:55
I agree Emma, we took time off with both of ours too (about 5 days if memory serves!). Of course we kept to our usual activites, but we found it gave us time to observe how they were settling in during the first few days and slowly build up the time they were left on their own before we went back to work-seemed to work for us anyway. Good luck Kai's Mom, you're going to have a great time meeting your 'someone special'. Look out for eyes that bury deep into your soul!!!!! Mand x
Thursday 25 Oct 21:29
Kai'smom, I think it's very sensible to wait, I work from home but I still scheduled settling in time so all 4 of mine knew they had to behave when I was working. As the 'other' Emma says, not long now :0)
Thursday 25 Oct 19:38
That's fare enough.we took our non grey n kids with u wen our grey chose us.i guess we didn't have to worry as due to a past dog with issues we wetent keeping the dogs together wen we was not at home but that only lasted a few months as they became inseparable.happy hunting come Xmas, not long now
Thursday 25 Oct 16:46
Hi Emma, in most cases i would totally agree with you, however, as i already have a grey and a non grey it is purely for my own peace of mind that i want to re-home when i have time off work. My non-grey can be a bossy little madam at times and i would like to be at home for the 'settling in' period just to ensure all goes as smoothly as it possibly can. I'm counting down the weeks until xmas when i have a week off work and i will be down to the kennels the weekend before to hopefully find a suitable grey for us. As people say the dogs choose each other and i am hoping that will be the case. I know little 'tiffs' can happen at any time but i would rather take all the precautions i can.
Thursday 25 Oct 13:18
You don't need time off work.wen we rehomed ours we were told to get him into normal life routine straight away otherwise he will get stressed once u change him to the normal routine as he won't b used to it.i was at work a few hours the day after we had ours then had the weekend at home then straight into normal daily life and apart from minor seperation anxiety which was resolved by toys and chew sticks he did great
Monday 15 Oct 13:30
I was one of Buster's nudgees! I totally agree with your comments, he didn't seem phased at all by the surroundings and was quite happy to have a fuss off anyone willing to provide it. Buster and Derry were my favourites of the dogs we met yesterday :) Those 2 just stood out for me and will make someone a lovely companion. Just a pitty i cannot come looking until xmas when i have time off work.
Sunday 14 Oct 20:39
By the way, his photo doesn't do him justice. Buster has a coat like velvet. He is exceptionally handsome.
Sunday 14 Oct 20:26
So, I am torn. I have enjoyed my day with Buster at the Annual Fun Day and he is truly fantastic. However, I am not sure I want to say how lovely he is because I want to take him home with me. I'm having some difficulty persuading my husband that we need another greyhound and so I am reluctantly going to sing his praises - but give me a few days and he could be mine... (husband, are you reading this?!)
Buster has bags of confidence. Nothing phased him today, he was delighted to meet any and everyone and loved my children (8 and 6) who launched themselves on him as soon as they met him. He is not shy, and happily nuzzled his way into any group gathering at the Fun Day. He loves other greys and is comfortable around other breeds. He was a little interested in small terriers at the beginning of the day, but as time went by he became less and less keen, and I think the more he sees of them, the less he will take notice.
He's a tremendously happy chap, with real character. Lively and extremely affectionate, he was delighted to meet everyone, young or old. I can't speak more highly of this lovely boy. And the couple who took the photograph of him today, do come and meet him again, he is truly special.
Wednesday 10 Oct 12:01
A fine looking boy, hope he gets a forever home soon.
Sunday 07 Oct 15:56
hope you get a forever home xxx
