Thank you for all your lovely comments about my girl. I have felt so supported by all her friends, near and far, during these last few difficult days.
In time another greyhound will join my family - and I can see all those I have loved and lost - Ace, Frank, George, Bouncer and Daisydog nodding their agreement from the bridge. Xxxx

Missfifi, I am completely heartbroken to hear this, I too also enjoyed reading about her outings and wardrobe. Much love to your mom, I know the pain of losing a much loved hound having lost Willow two days after Christmas. What a wonderful life you had with your mom. The best beloved Daisydog gained her wings this morning and is flying to the bridge to meet up with all her pals. For her last big adventure she is wearing a soft white fleece coat covered in pink, blue and green hearts.
My wonderful girl made it to 14 and a half - Daisydog had a happy full life and was so much loved by so many - it was a privilege to call her mine.
Perky right to the end her back legs stopped working and even the simple things in her life were a huge effort.
So I set her free to run forever.
Always in my heart and always in my pocket wherever I go.
Love you Daisydog

Daisydog here wishing everyone who remembers her a very happy Christmas. Daisydog remarks ‘ I am 14 and a half now so am mostly in my lovely soft bed eating chews. I am no longer able to drive my car or walk to the common or the sea but have a very happy quiet life - I watch a lot of Miss Marole and also like the snooker. Mum changes my collar every few days as I still like to look the fashionista I am even though I don’t get to wear my wardrobe of coats anymore. Mum says there will be extra cheese for Christmas - hurrah’ Mum says ‘ My be beloved girl is so fragile and wonky now but so perky and engaged with life that I am amazed by her strength of spirit - each day is a gift - especially as so many of her chums are already at the bridge - our lovely vet Ruth says She is a remarkable old lady. Indeed she is. Xx

Daisydog here just ambling by to say that I will be 14 on August 1st. Yes, and I only look 8! Being fawn I don’t have a spec of grey! I am to have a zoom birthday party and a few chums in the garden and of course a cake made by aunty Tina. I am so blessed with my seaside life and manage a little walk to the common most days. I am very wonky now with a back leg that I think belongs to someone else but am very happy and much loved. Mum adds ‘ the girl amazes us all - she has such spirit and determination - she’s isn’t able to ride comfortably in her beloved car any more but enjoys her garden and seeing her chums. So for anyone who remembers us - she has been with me now for 8 years - we are sending a special seaside hello - each day now an even bigger treasure. Xxx

You can never have too much of a good thing so today I am mostly eating cheese and Christmas tree shaped dog biscuits.
Mum says ‘Each day is so precious with her now. Although doing ballerina plies a lot of the time the girl has such determination and spirit - it’s a special joy to spend another Christmas time with her.Old girls rock????????????’

The much beloved Daisydog is 13 today. We have been together since she was 6 when I collected her one cold Sunday morning in November 2012. She brings joy into my life every day and through her I have made wonderful friends and had fabulous times. She reigns supreme at the seaside as the best dressed girl on the prom and has a very happy life.
Daisydog remarks ‘ Every day I have a little drive out in the car and lots of treats - and although I am sometimes very wobbly I can still jump on the bed and have a little skip round the garden. Sending love to everyone who remembers me.....Seaside Birhday Wags Daisydog xxx

Daisydog here just dropping by to say that I will be 13, yes 13 on 1st August. This year I am having an ‘at home’ afternoon for all my greyhound chums and their hoomans. Being almost 13 I am allowed to eat whatever I like and wear a different collar every day. I am also getting extra cheese. I have a teeny tiny lady leaky problem but mum has sorted out some nice sweeties for that. I also have stiff back legs but I am on some new sweeties for that and they are working very well. Us old girls can still cut the mustard (I have no idea what that means - but mum told me to write it ) and I am always a lady wherever I go. Big seaside wags to anyone who remembers me. I am a very lucky girl and am much loved.
Mum adds - the beloved Daisydog continues to shine and bring joy into my life and the life of others. Enjoy each day with your hound. The love they give us is immeasurable.

The girl, at 12, is behaving like a six year old. Bouncing up steps and oblivious to growing old gracefully. She has completely recovered from having the tumour removed although there is every likelihood it will return for a third time. She has a wonderful life at the seaside but especially at this time of year we think of old friends. So we are both sending Getting ready for Christmas wags to The Daybreaks family.
Daisy remarks “ Already wearing my Christmas snowflake jumper and going to sausage parties - I am much loved and very blessed”.

Daisydog has come through the operation. Hurrah! We both had a sleepless night but the girl is brave as brave can be. It’s a horrid wound - look at her blog via the link for pics - and she has been very spaced out today. But tea has been eaten, water drunk, cuddles received and tablets taken. Thank you so much for your good wishes - it’s so lovely to be part of this greyhound family. Xx

Today is lump day for Daisydog. The tumour that was removed about 18 months ago has started to grow back quite aggressively so my beloved girl is at the vets today having it removed. So all is anxiousness. She has a new cream cardigan with sparkles on it to wear over the stitches so will not loose her fashionista status whilst recovering. Paws crossed all goes well. Xx

Mum says it’s been ages since I said hello to my old chums on here. I will be 12 on August 1st and there is to be a proper birthday lunch for me and my buddies. I have a few ‘lady’ problems but nothing that a few pairs of Smarty Pants can’t sort out - I am mostly wearing pink tarten and black floral. For my age I am still a bit of a looker if I say so myself and mum and I have a wonderful seaside life. And get to go on holibobs with Auntie Linda and Uncle Pauly. So we are blessed in many ways. Woopidoo.......my burfday cake has arrived. I am nine on Saturday and all my chums are coming to my party on Sunday - that's 15 hoomans and 5 houndies. I am soooo excited. Mum is busy baking and getting everything ready. Mum and me are raising money for the rgt near us - so it's hands in pockets for the lucky dip! I will write a special blog afterwards for all my old chums from daybreaks to read. The collar fairy has sent me a new pink collar with sparkly hearts on it - can't wait to wear it!!! Vain? Me? Never. Just a fashionista greyhound girl!!! Big salty hugs. Xxx

So glad your feeling better Daisydog and I have to agree that shy/nervous Greys can be wonderful. Our Ripple is scared of everything and without Toney won't go out of the garden especially if she hears those most evil of things (children) playing in the street. Strange thing is when a child is on their own and nice and calm, Ripple is more than happy to have a cuddle, but if she hears them playing!!!!! In our house she is the most perfect, amazing, loving, gorgeous, kind and gentle pet in the world.

Daisydog here dropping by to say that I have been signed off by the vet today. Hurrah! i am better!

Daisydog was, as some of you know, one of the most nervous girls in the whole world. Some days are still a challenge, especially if they contain men and bicycles. However she happily comes to meetings with me, into busy pubs and restaurants (everyone in Norfolk has a dog - fabulous) and sits in the back of my car with her harness on, well strapped in, roof off, ears blowing in the breeze. So proud of my girl. Please don't overlook the nervous ones - the rewards are just so amazing. Love you Daisydog xx

It has been a worrying few days for me and Daisydog. Her fur round the tops of her legs has started to fall out - a kinda of greyhound Donald trump look - and there have been blood tests and vet visits. Our fabulous (and very greyhound savvy) vet Ruth wanted to rule out cushings disease and thyroid issues. Today we heard that it's not cushings but her thyroid readings are at the very edge of normal (for greys). We are going back to the vets in a week so Daisydog can get more fuss, a biscuit and another check over. On a positive note it's very hot here, the bald bits are symmetrical and Daisydog hasn't checked herself in the garden mirror for a few days!

I am so touched by all your comments for Mabel. How kind greyhound people are. I am very sad to write that Daisydogs best chum - the beautiful three legged Mabel - has died today. She broke her left hind leg running on the beach at Wells and although everything possible was done for her she passed away on the operating table, whilst her leg was being fixed. Mabel had a huge heart and was much loved by Daisydog, me and everyone who knew her. Her owners are heartbroken. There will be a special star shining bright tonight. Run free Mabel, forever. Xxx

My fabulous girl has just finished term 1 of her agility. She is now destined for Beginners agility 2, starting in the summer. We are having a few weeks off to walk on the beach and be lazy girls!
Daisydog reports ' it's just brilliant fun; I have climbed A frames, the BIG walkway plank, ridden on the seesaw, gone over jumps, down the BIG tunnel and through a tyre. And when I do well a nice lady gives me a snack in a pretty pink bowl. I go on tippytoes on the plank and am very careful because it is very high and I can lick mums face as we walk along together.Mum makes sure I am safe and don't wobble. A word of encouragement to the mums and dads of older greys; daisydog is nearly nine and her first agility class really proved you can teach an old dog new tricks! Already halfway down the tunnel and jumping over four jumps she so enjoyed the class. We are very lucky as her classmate is a gorgeous german shepherd rescue girl of 13 months so with just the two of us we had oodles of fun. Daisy is sooo much more confident - its taken around 18 months - and still a way to go but with cheese and love and patience its just so inspiring what these lovely hounds can achieve!!Waving to our chums from the seaside....and so enjoying to read about Ice and especially little Boo. xx

Daisydog and I are so pleased to read all about the rehomings recently - it is just so lovely to hear about happy endings and wagging tails on forever sofas. Sadness too for the greys running free over the bridge - just a heartbeat away. But always loved and always in our pockets wherever we go.

Daisydog continues to be my wonder dog - currently in a house with up to five builders hacking off plaster and drinking tea she is happily settled in her basket and pleased to accept a pat and a cuddle from chaps covered in paint and dust. She was also on guard in the conservatory watching all that was going on when the new garage was built. I guess love conquers all........xxx

Daisydog here ' I miss Julies training soooooo much; mum and me stood in a muddy field in the rain for an hour and mum blew a whistle. Four other people blew whistles too. It was hopeless....even the cheese didn't make up for it. Best bit was lunch with my chum Katie and a lie down on her fluffy rug. Mum says by week 10 we'll both be enjoying it!!!!!'

Seeing other breeds makes me realise what fantastic, wonderful, intelligent, glorious dogs our greys are....and how so often it is the right dog that finds us. I don't respond well to a whistle either and I'd rather have a nice lunch than stand in the rain for an hour. Next week its 'Go Play; Bring your Own rabbit'

Today is Daisydogs gotcha day. I can hardly believe it is a whole year since I first met her. I had gone to look for a black boy and came away with a fawn girl who had touched my heart in the few minutes I spent with her. From a nervous scared of everything and everyone poppet she has blossomed into a wagging tailed happy girl. Still a little apprehensive of new people and places she is soooooooo much better - just look at how she has settled into her seafaring life!!!! It is just so rewarding and fun to have Daisydog sharing my life and I know all my other greys are nodding their approval across the bridge. Love you Daisydog xxxxxxx

Daisydog here' hi Bertie and blade, well I'm loving my new home by the sea. It's a bit chilly so mum is going to get me some pjs so I can be extra snugly at night! I have a new grey friend called Katie and am meeting lots of new dogs when I go for walks. Mum says the move went really well and I am an amazing girl for taking it all in my stride. Mum has left me for a few hours to get used to my new place and I have been a perfect poppet. Fashion wise I am certainly the best dressed girl round here! Thank you for asking how we are... All good so far and lots of cats to stare at!!

It's Daisy's gotcha day real soon so I will do a seaside update then.

Love and hugs to all our chums. Xx

So a day of sadness cos it was our last training class with Julie and our chums but happiness too because I get to run on the sand and play in the sea when we move. And their will be new bottoms to sniff which is my favourite thing to do after sleeping'.

Love you Daisydog. I am just so proud of my girl today. xx

Daisydog and I had the most fantastic time at the show today seeing lots of chums and making news ones. Lovely to see Harry and Blade and the pretty Autumn too and holiday sisters Lena and Lola. Thanks to Julie for doing magic to make it all happen. I am so proud of my beautiful girl who has been with me eleven months. Today she spent almost four hours at a very busy show with lots and lots of legs and tails and noises everywhere.I remember when she hid behind the table at training and did not want to get out of the car. What a difference eleven months makes. So well done Daisydog - Miss March rules in this house. xx

Daisydog did not come to training today because she has a very poorly tummy and a very windy bottom! We have mostly been paddling in simple solution and deciding what to do with two striped rugs that now have lots of big splodges on them! Poor daisydog - she missed seeing all her chums and so did I. And of course no kiss from the lovely ray so hopefully that can be rectified next week. Lovely to hear how he got. Xx

Daisydog here...I've had my best birthday ever. Sardines for breakfast, then a nice lady poured water all over me and chased me round with a loud whirring thing which made me feel all clean and shiny. I was a bit scared at first but got a bit braver. Then a tiny teeny walk cos it was soooo hot to watch the bowls and scrummy cheese with my tea. The entertainment was good too......I watched mum hovering up about a million wasps after a man came yesterday and found a nest in a wall of my house. It was so bad last night mum had to stay downstairs with me on the sofa so I didn't chase any. Big woofs to all my chums and thank you for making my birthday so special. xxx

Daisy was in the kennels when we came to look for another dog, I remember her being so timid as she sat in her basket and she would not venture up to us for some cuddles, she was so nervous. It is lovely to hear that with your patience, love and understanding that she is starting to realise that the big world is not so scary. Daisydog is just back from her holidays in the Cotswolds. We stayed in a lovely cottage with an enclosed garden and had lots of lovely walks across the fields. There was a Cotswold cat which she ignored. Ditto a Labrador. It is a wonderful thing that within 30 minutes she was settled in this new place and was a golden girl all the week. What a difference seven months make! Happy to be home though and snuggled up in her basket. Love you daisydog. xx

Daisy can growl........today we met an off lead lab who daisy has met before, but today he was determined to sniff her bottom more than is absolutely necessary. She let him for a minute or so, during which I said to the owner - she is a nervous dog and is only used to being sniffed by greyhounds - and then woopidoo - daisy growls and snaps at him saying back off fella, this girls had enough of that! He backed off. This is another milestone for Daisy. And a lesson to the lab who is a lovely dog and his owner who was as surprised as I was. Well done Daisydog xx

My beautiful Daisy has had a special lesson in ttouch - and she just loved it. So we are practising for 15 minutes a day. She has a nice pink wrap and a purple fleecy harness and matching lead are on their way. Daisy actually sat with me for an hour today in a busy Nissan dealership while my car was mended. She lay down, and just looked around, listening to all the noises and watching everything and everybody with her ears up and alert. And then she actually wanted to walk round the block - which means walking by a busy road for little way - and then past a farm with BIG cows. Daisy even managed to walk passed a man in a van without crossing the road. Love you Daisydog. xx

Took Daisydog for claw cutting and essential supplies today at Auntie Ruths and saw the small dog testing in action. How brave is that small dog! Then on to kenilworth castle. Daisy doesn't like castles - she liked the car park and the nice lady giving out tickets and even the first bit of grass but one look at a whole heap of stones and she started to shiver and refused to move. Perhaps shes more a National Trust girl. xx

Daisy is making lots of progress. Fantastic. So heres a word of encouragement to all the lovely new mums and dads to think seriously about taking their new grey to training. Daisy actually went into a garden centre with me yesterday and helped me choose the straw for the chickens! And today, well heavens today I met my chum and her labradoodle puppy who Daisy happily walked with. It is so wonderful to see Daisy begin to overcome her nervousness in the big outside world. And there is a BIG improvement since she has been listening to Julie and watching all the lovely greys on saturday mornings. She has made friends with Lola and Lena and even wagged her tail at them. Our grey Jet also has Head Honcho & Top Honcho in his family tree.We have had probs. with people & getting out of the car.
At first he was always looking behind him on walks & would have walked into a lamp post ahead of him once if we hadn't stopped him-we used to say he needed wing mirrors! We too, have been to places for a walk & as we have 2 greys, one of us has been for a walk with 1 dog, leaving the other person behind with Jet. When this happened we always sat in the hatchback with him, so even tho he didn't get out he was 'subjected' to the noise & movement around the car. He almost ruined one of our hols by doing this & we've been to greyhound walks where we've had to go on our own walk cos by the time Jet has got out of the car everyone has gone without us. We know how frustrating this can be;I'm sure you've had the strange looks we used to have in car parks & screaming children always appear at the wrong time don't they? We can look back & laugh at it now, because we've had Jet almost 3 years & he's changed so much in this time.
I've been trying to list the things we tried with Jet-I don't think there's a miracle cure,but all have helped & it takes time & patience(which fortunately for Daisy you seem to have).Some have already been mentioned;
-Greyhound training classes. Details on this site. Helps dog & you to cope with/handle behaviour.Hepled us immensely;we made new friends & picked up invaluable tips.
-A body wrap(similar idea to yr thundershirt)that we got from the Mekuti website. It's worth reading the info. on this site.We used to go to the Sat. training classes & borrowed a body wrap to try before we bought our own.
-Greyhound walks as they do feel safer in a pack.Even if you can't get her out of the car;let her get used to noises & movement by opening the hatchback & sitting with her or winding some windows down.
-Gardens open to the public where dogs are allowed on leads. As Daisy is so nervous of getting out of the car, this will be more useful when she's a bit more confident,as the car parks can get v.busy.
Other ideas:-
-TTouch classes. We used TTouch when Jet froze on walks or became v.anxious.This was arranged thru' the greyhound training class.
-Carry some treats Daisy loves in your pocket every time she goes out. Reward her when she gets out of the car, passes a person etc.Use these treats only on these occasions so they're 'special'. Jet comes to me now when he thinks he's done something good on a walk asking for a treat!
-Having a 2nd confident & carefully chosen grey helped us. If that isn't an option,is there someone Daisy knows & is confident with, who has a dog she gets on with, that could come out with you. We found having a dog who jumps out of the car without hesitation helps(& is also useful to divert people who dash up to your terrified dog wanting to fuss it!)
This won't help immediately, but if you have an understanding friend with a dog, worth a try.
Jet used to see a person in the distance & work out how he was going to avoid them. Sometimes we had to stop walking or go along with his plans, but sometimes he had to do what we wanted. The trick is to get the balance right;to continue to push your dog a bit further without scaring them too much so that they refuse to do anything. Not easy, but think back to when you had Daisy & I'm sure you see a difference already.Best of luck.

Hi Honey'smom, thanks so much for this. Made me feel better.....daisy dog is a real home girl...just like your Honey. Your comments made me think of her behaviour in different way....funnily enough though with dogs shes ok, its just people and things and places that she doesn't like! And strangely enough she loves having her lead put on - wags her tail and gets excited. Perhaps for her the car is her walk! Really appreciate your reply. x

Thursday 25 Apr 21:52

Missfifi sorry to hear about Daisy being so nervous - my Honey (racing name True Sally) is also of the nervous disposition and she has the same Dad as your Daisy (Droopy Scholes) so wonder if it is something in the genes! Honey loves the car but went through a terrible spell were once she was in it she would not get out of it and even now when we go to the shops in the village we have to park in a certain place or she absolutely freezes and won't come out of the car - sometimes it is really hard work but I think of it like a person with autism or aspergers (sure that isn't spelt right) where they just cannot handle things that are not in their normal routine and it all becomes quite scary. Honey is a real home dog and that is where she feels safe and secure and going out in the big wide world can be a real trauma for her at times. Have you thought of trying one of the training classes? Honey loves it (although wary of the bouncier more boisterous dogs) but it is the only time she willingly comes to me to have her lead put on. Just to make you smile - Honey froze the other night as she was about to jump out of the car as she spotted the daffodils in the garden and had obviously never seen them before! Also the greyhound walks are good for building their confidence - Honey turns to walk in the other direction as soon as she sees a dog when we are out walking on our own but on the Sutton walks surrounding by the pack of greyhounds she is as happy as larry and does not bat an eyelid at any of the other dogs in the park. I'll be watching your progress with fingers crossed that things improve for you both but (like Honey) I am sure she is happy in her own little world being spoilt by Mom!! xx

Poor Daisy, sorry to hear she is so nervous. My sister's dog is very nervous too. One of the best places we have taken him is Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens. It is so quiet and peaceful. Dogs have to be kept on leads, which is great as you don't have to worry about any other dogs running up. Might be worth a visit if it isn't too far for you to go. xxx

Daisy has been with me for 5 months now. How fabulous! But Daisy is so scared of everything and everyone but me and her home and her garden. We go to lots of places together but she does not want to get out of the car - whether it is quiet or noisy, whether she can see people or not. Her thundershirt helps but there is no real ongoing improvement.we went back to kenilworth castle and she would not get out of the car. So I was wondering if some homeopathic treatment would help and would love to hear if anyone has any ideas. All my other greys were not so nervous as her......she is loved in just the same way and if Daisy lives out her retirement in the house and garden and car thats fine but I just want to do the best for her. Any suggestions most welcome...

A little note about Daisys progress. This week we went to Kenilworth castle and daisy, wearing her thundershirt, only took small encouragement to get out of the car. We walked, with many stops, to the castle entrance and into the grounds for about 5 minutes. It was reasonably quiet and several people wanted to say hello to daisy but her tail was so between her legs it was almost touching her nose. However this is proper progress for my girl - and of course once at home she was whizzing round the garden and rolling for a tummy tickle on the rug. The farmer has been muck spreading in the field where I walk her at the back of my house and she has discovered how easy it is to roll in - even with a harness on. Daisy just loves it....and would eat it if she could! So there are small but significant changes in my girls life....and it is lovely to see. Always a golden girl in the house and so full of bounce and love when she greets me if I have been out. She always runs into the garden and does three or four laps of her cicrcuit round the disappearing lawn.Well done Daisy. x

Just thought I would do a thundershirt update; Daisy wears it when out and about. It does seem to have a positive effect on her stress levels, but not always. She is more receptive to getting out of the car but still requires a quiet environment and absolutely no one looking at her, except me. But progress is progress. Some days she just likes to view the world from inside the car and some days she wants to feel the wind or sun, but definately not the rain (or the snow) on her nose. But even when she is out, after a few minutes she is keen to return to the security of the car. At home and in the garden she is a different dog - she has made herself a nice racetrack round the lawn and the borders. Roll on the summer so the rug gets the opportunity to be a rug again and not a pawprint art installation! Love you daisydog. xxx

It seems the thundercoat has magic powers......on sunday afternoon Daisy and I were in the garden (coat on daisys coat peg in the hallway) and my friend walked into the garden to visit. And Daisy barked......just twice. A big deep bark. She was telling me that someone had come into our space, as I had my back to the house. Clever Daisy, amazing coat! Thats Daisys first noise since gotcha day at the end of November - we had a tiny sqeak one morning the first week but thats been it. In truth the coat does seem to help when we are out and about...... and clearly she thought she was still wearing it! She is so loving being out in the sunshine and comes and lies down by me when I am gardening. She especially enjoys watching my neighbours ducks and chickens through the fence. But so far no attempt to leap the fence or burrow underneath it.

When Daisy and I came to the kennels on thursday we met a lovely lady called Jen who recommended I try a thundershirt to help with Daisys anxiety when out and about. I ordered one from ideas4pets thursday afternoon and it came first thing this morning. Amazing. Daisy has worn it twice already and she seemed less stressed on our walk and certainly was not pulling on her harness to get home. I will let you know f it continues to help. So a big thank you to Jen. The only downside is that it only comes in grey and Daisy was hoping for pink or a nice bright green! x

She has a basket of toys and the last few days she has gone to fetch one and give it to me so we can play when I come downstairs in the morning. It is BIG progress for my beautiful girl. And yesterday she moved from her rug to lay by my feet under the dining table when I was sitting at it. So one tiny step for a greyhound but a giant leap for Daisy....fabulous. xx

Daisy and I have spent a lot of time inside this week so I have been looking at the greyhound database.....and how amazing.....one of my much loved greys, who has been playing across the bridge since 2006 - Frank ( racing name Long Last) had im Slippy as his granddad on his mums side. And Daisy has im Slippy as her great great granddad. How amazing and fabulous is that. I think my gorgous boy Frank used his influence to bring Daisy home. xx

Daisy is not liking the snow and frost. My old greys Bouncer and George loved to chase the odd snowball or two - at least for about a minute - but the beautiful Daisy picks up her dainty paws and dashes back into the house. What a sensible girl. xx

Poor Daisy.....very miserable yesterday evening and when I came downstairs little piles of sick nicely positioned across the rug.....at least she had not walked in it! She looks sooooo much happier this morning and has tucked into her breakfast. Just reminds me to check those work surfaces - especially since my house is open plan and she can even see them from her sheepskin rug.

Hope Daisy will be fine.....Bob did the same a couple of weeks ago, except it was a kilo (just over 2lbs!!!) I slept downstairs with him as I was worried about him being sick or eeerm needing the loo quickly shall we say!
However, The Bobster has a cast iron stomach and showed no ill effects whatsoever.
(I was hoping that all that grease may help along the golf ball that he ate in November and that never made an appearance!)

Today Daisy has eaten about half a pound of butter and is looking a bit sorry for herself! My fault - i left her for 10 seconds with the ingrediants for a cherry cake in the kitchen and she chose to eat the butter. At least she left the cherries.....I guess she hasn't heard of having her five a day. x

How nice to hear there are other greys like daisy. I agree about the frosty weather though i'm thinking shes going to be in that basket and not in the garden!

She sounds like our two. Neither of them even try to get on the sofa. One can't climb the stairs, so beds don't come into it either. But.......they both love galloping up the garden, skidding to a halt and covering me in mud. When's the cold, frosty weather coming, I'm fed up of wiping muddy paws!!! Mand x

She sounds like a star! My Joey won't get on the sofa or the bed - no matter how hard I try to convince him! He loves his duvet or lies at our feet :)

Daisy has got a gold star from my vets today for being such a good girl when she had her health check. Daisy has put on a little weight - another 1 kilo needed to get to a perfect sofa weight. She is such a joy to own. Still nervous and still refusing to get on any of my sofas......never had this before with any of my greys.....but loving her sheepskin rugs and big cosy basket with her duvet and pink fleecy blanket. I can't believe she has been here for six weeks already. Still not a bark just a happy sqeak when I come downstairs in the morning. She has discovered that she can race around the garden and loves to do it three tmes and then slide through the muddy grass for a cuddle. She is getting braver though and isn't so spooked by noises and new things as she was; although pushbikes are still very scary!

I have just been reading about the greys returned which makes me so sad. Daisy is my sixth grey and all of them have been so very different. One in particular who had been so very badly treated lived with me for five years before he would even lie down outside. On balance I think it is better that these dogs come back to somewhere warm and safe and were they are understood and wait for the right home. But it can take many months for a grey to become what most people would conside a 'pet dog' to be. Sometimes, some never do. That it not there fault. They all deserve love and understanding and a sofa. Lets hope that potential new grey owners listen carefully to Ruth and read these posts before making that lifetime commitment.

Daisy and I would like to wish everyone a very merry christmas. It is daisys first christmas in her forever home and she has had a special sardine breakfast and extra hugs. Every greyhound deserves a life full of love and sofas (although Daisy pefers her sheepskin rug!). Heres hoping for a year when more people appreciate the joy these special dogs can bring. xx

Daisy continues to discover life outside kennels. She is still very nervous but has had a look at the rabbits today at Pets At Home and has asked for one from Santa! She just loves cheese.....and has added a ball and a squeaky bow tie to the squeaky duck. I made the mistake of leaving half a pannetone cake on the worksurface whilst I put some bread on the birdtable. All that was left was a few crumbs on her whiskers. No harm done. But a scary moment. She is such a pleasure to have around and sooooo loves travelling in the car. She enjoys watching the sheba catfood adverts now she is more comfortable with the tv. I decided against bringing her to the Christmas Open Day - i thought the noise may worry her. But I will come and see Ruth on a quieter day so Daisy can have fuss and hugs and a new coat. x

Daisy has been out socialising today at Hatton. She had a look in the jewellry shop and got lots of pats from lots of different people. She is less nervous and loves to travel in the car. Yesterday we went off to Bourton on the Water for a lovely walk and a not so lovely visit to the dentist! She also had a mooch round a shop selling very posh doggy things. Daisy is an absolute delight. x

Daisy is such a poppet, still as quiet as a mouse all night but lovely wags and licks in the morning. She has been left for a few hours two days this week and when i returned i found a library book and her rgt papers on the rug. Both untouched .....perhaps she can read as well as melt hearts! She is very spookable when out in the big wide world but i know she will get better with experience. Daisy has the blessing of my beautiful boy Bouncer who I lost so recently, I know he is watching her from heaven. We never replace just have room for another one to love. And now its time for her breakfast.................x

Daisy was a golden girl all night. Not a peep out of her. I left one of those battery operated candles on all night so there was a tiny light for her if she woke up. She chose to sleep on her sheepskin rug and not in her new basket. The sofas remain undiscovered as yet! She woke up about 7.30 and I was greeted with a waggy tail. Still a little nervous about her food but that will sort itself out. Looking forward to lots of hugs and fun with her. x

Am officially Daisys mum - fabulous. Daisy has met the chickens - no reaction - excellent. We have been for a walk and Daisy has watched a movie and had her tea. Amazingly there was no reaction when I lit my wood burning stove. And tomorrow we off to meet a friend for lunch with her cocker spaniel. Harness much better than a collar for her. Thanks Ruth. I will reciprocate. x

The lovely Dee is getting so much better now. Dashes up to the door to come out for her walk, and didn't react to the barking lab at the farm. She needed her legs cleaning when we got back and very patiently let me do each one, then lay down in her bed, bless her. x

The lovely Dee is definately starting to gain in confidence now, and she loves being out on her walk. Still a bit wary of eating if anyone is watching her (?) but I think she just needs time and the security of her own home to blossom. x

Dee is absolutely beautiful. She's still shy and a little nervous of things, but does love to be out on her walk and took quite an interest in the squirrel this afternoon, although she didn't pull or make a noise, she did prick up her ears and have a good look as it ran across the road - it was lovely to see. Fingers crossed for this lovley little girl.

I am not sure if our Rose, greyhound would be willing to wear green hair and a witches hat.
