I am so sorry I had to leave you, but I had no choice, my lovely, sweet girl. I love you so much, my little Star and I am so sad I won't see you and Charlie live out your lives, but I know you are in your home and well cared for. This is the only way I can tell you how much I love you. I so miss our hugs on the sofa. You were always so much fun, with so much love to give. I love you Star and will never forget you x

    I’m Homed

Hot hot hot - not complaining as the washing is drying nicely and with all the fans on with and mist being sprayed, cool coats on standby and the black out blinds down, we are managing to keep our inmates happy so they are not too hot and bothered. I put up a big sheet in roof of the feeding runs to block the sun and this has helped loads too. I had a trip to Fivelands with the gorgeous Bounty and she has healed really well following her neutering and dental last week. She had the first part of her vaccination course and will be back there in a couple of weeks for the second part. She travelled well and wasn't phased by a very unhappy cat in a carrier in the waiting room at the vets. She also got to meet Auntie Kate (Lady Victoria) who was there with Lyra. I had a trip to Poundland to buy lengths of washing line with Simon who came to finish the sand run 'jump zone'. The safety height around the sand run has been raised by an extra foot and we haven't got to worry about escapees now as the run is being booked by so many different and very busy breeds! Well, we are all finished so I'm off home for now but back later to let all the kids out for a toilet break..... no jumbone treats have been given today as cleaning out this morning was not good!!!! That will teach me to have a day off ha ha x

Phew! It's hot...it's so hard trying to keep the dogs cool :(( They all went for walks this morning, the walkers said it was quite cool in lane under the shade of the trees. A few went for a short walk with their cool coats on this afternoon but most came out into the small runs for a break from their kennels and a groom. Nick enjoyed a stroll around Bobs garden and Bob enjoyed a cup of tea! 🙂 x Thank you to everyone who has donated things for our Birthday party on Sunday. We are very grateful. If you are coming along on Sunday, if you could spare a tin of fish our residents would be very grateful. :)) Thanks so much to our volunteers who braved the heat to help out today. Xxx

Well it’s my sisters 16th birthday today. I’m really excited because at 11 we will be going for a walk with Florence and then stop at a dog friendly pub for lunch. We will also be seeing other family friends. I hope I get sausages! Apparently my family were “dying” yesterday because of the heat. I wouldn’t let them put the fan on! It’s a bit scary. The noise it makes isnt nice. So when they did I decided to whine and then refuse to come down the stairs. Great trick. They turned the fan off. They had red faces after though. Barney Xx Ps: Thanks Auntie Kate now I know a bit more about football. I might jumping up and down next time.

    I’m Homed

What an incredibly hot day! We managed to take the dogs out for a walk this Morning but by lunchtime it was just too hot. Some of them had a little time in the run, while others enjoyed a groom and play in the small runs. Ruth had to take Nick to see the emergency vet last night as he was in considerable discomfort with his leg. They gave him some pain relief and advised us to take him to our own vet this morning. Fortunately he seemed a little better and was able to walk on it. He was a really good boy at the vets met a former Daybreaks resident, Sally and a Labrador and was the perfect gentleman with them both. 🙂 He now has more pain relief and has a review appointment in a couple of weeks.....He isn't able to go for walks so won't be very impressed!! :(( Lovely little Sky went home today. Do hope all goes well for her and her new Mom and Dad. Xx Don't forget our 12th Birthday party on Sunday! :)))

Couldn't take Mandy far today (too hot). She was initially quite apprehensive but after a few minutes she was very happy for me to stroke her. I think that once she has got used to the kennels her character will emerge and she will be a little star. xxx
