Well Fat neck Finn had his check up at the vet's and as the scale registered 35k ! I gingerly told the vet "he may have a little post adoption weight problem" to which she said "He looks fine to me" and promptly gave him a Bonio! and as Nina wouldn't accept her treat, he scoffed that as well!!!!!!The vet is now his hero! We would have used him on the FFP tee-shirt logo but there wouldn't have been much room left for the words LOL I look at it this way there is just more of him to love x PS If Ruth gives her approval I will be working on a SAP Tee shirt. hope she does well with the FFPs and the 12th Birthday is a big success. Fingers crossed many of the hounds will find a new forever home Sundayxx

My sister had a great birthday but I’ve been very quiet the last few days. Mummy has gone away for 8 days. I’m missing her a lot. Every car door I hear I get up to check if it’s her. She FaceTimed yesterday and I got up with excitement thinking she was home but no she was talking through a phone. Barney Xx

It was two things today - very hot and very quiet!!!! Fortunately the lack of volunteers wasn't a problem as walks were not on the cards, so I enjoyed a lovely morning taking the boys & girls for a gentle stroll around the sand run. It is really shady and cool in parts and we had a lovely time just ambling around. The afternoon was even hotter, so it was health checks and grooming and paddling pool time! The new arrivals are all gorgeous, Hugo is a very handsome but very nervy boy who is being looked after by Holly at the moment. Kado and Annie are lovely, and little Mandy is a little bit shy but has a real cheeky personality just waiting to come out! Ruth spent lots of time standing up on chairs wielding a hammer - don't panic, she was only fixing up more drapes to provide shade in the runs! I have taken a photo of Horse as promised, and he is now my current phone screensaver - here's hoping! The weather looks set to stay across the weekend, so lets hope we have a great turnout at the birthday garden party on Sunday - and that some of our boys & girls find themselves a forever home. Hope to see lots of you there. Stay cool! Angie xx

Will be visiting the kennels at the weekend and looking forward to meeting the greys for a possible re-homing, especially looking forward to meeting you Horse. Would love to give a home to a dog that especially needs one and I love black dogs. I am excited! xxx

Yayyyyyy been there, done that and got the T-shirt!!!!! The failed foster parent t-shirts have arrived and I am the proud owner of one!!!! I have successfully fostered and rehomed many greys with my job at Daybreaks, but Wispa was my first failure - I took her home with me as she was not eating in the kennels and the rest is history.....! If you are a member and would like the t-shirt to prove it - they are available at Daybreaks for £15.00.... I want to massively thank Mark and Jenny (owners of Nina and Tony aka Fat neck Finlay) for arranging and donating these to help raise funds for the continuing improvements at Daybreaks. xxxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

I cannot believe how time has flown by and that it is so long since I last posted! Gracie continues to be both a complete sweetheart, totally mischievous and an utter monster all in one body! One minute she’s curled up next to you being fussed, the next finding a sock, shoe, towel (anything else) that she can steal or up to some other naughtiness, and then back to being golden, best behaved angelic dog ever. (At least that what she thinks.) She has a real stubborn streak and if she makes her mind up that she either will or doesn’t want to do something, that’s it, and no amount of bribery cajoling or persuasion will change her mind. Training class is a prime example. She loves going to her classes and she’s more than capable of all the exercises, but on so many nights, I tell her what to do, and she stares at me as if I’ve told her to fly to the moon, or do something she’s never done before. So I am astounded to say that last night she passed her GOLD level, on the first attempt! She did not put a paw wrong.I am so incredibly proud of her as she had some serious distractions that she totally ignored. So, along with Andy and Norris we now have 3 Gold level greyhounds in the house. (Though at times it is difficult to believe, but we love them anyway)

    I’m Homed

We had two lovely new arrivals this morning. Annie and Kado. Kado wasn't very impressed with having a bath and had to be rinsed off in one of the runs. As it was so warm it didn't take long for him to dry off. Both he and Annie are delightful. :)) Ruth took Shamus off to the vet this morning for his neutering operation and I picked him up this afternoon. He was quite bright and awake 🙂 He enjoyed a nice bowl of Burns and sardines on his return. He is a really lovely lad, the nurses at the vets were quite taken with him. Xxx Nick's wrist is looking ok, but as he can't go on walks at the moment he has had to find other things to do with his time; I think he has been taking lessons from Ellie on how to "acquire" extra snacks! While in the kitchen run he took advantage of the window being open and managed to swipe a tasty cheese and ham baguette from the worktop belonging to Wayne one of our volunteers....Oops! He ate the whole lot before he was spotted, Sorry Wayne! I'm sure Ellie must have been watching and nodding with approval. :)) Xxx
