Ruth took Sid and Skip to be neutered this morning. Poor Skip was so very sleepy when he came back this afternoon. We had to carry him back to his kennel in a duvet. Do hope he will feel much better after a good nights sleep. Xx Sky also went to see the vet for a check up. Thankfully all seems ok with her and nothing serious to worry about. :)) We left tonight leaving two of our new girls paired together in the kitchen kennel and run. They were a little unsettled last night. I have just checked them on the cameras and they are snuggled up together. 🙂 Xxx

    I’m Homed

My beautiful Serendipity. I was certain that you would have melted someone's heart by now. For anyone looking for a new best friend, Seren is perfect. She lived in our family for 16 months and was perfect in every way. She was around children from as young as 11 months up to 9 years and many ages in between including toddlers as we have many Grand children. She was so gentle with all of them and although when she's in the sand run she will run around like Speedy Gonzalis, in the garden with my Grand children she was an angel and so careful with them. She is absolutely brilliant with all sizes and shapes of dogs, never shown aggression towards them and her favourite things in all the world are to have a good snuggle, she loves her grub and is a total sun worshipper. She has been returned to Daybreaks through absolutely no fault of her own, it was sadly due to my other dog's aggression issues and we are all broken hearted to see her go. She is clean in the house, travels very well in the car (She'll just curl up and go to sleep until she gets to her destination) and went on many adventures in the caravan which she loved. With age comes sensibleness and she knows when she needs to be calm but she has a twinkle in her eye and loves to play and fool around too. Please don't over look my gorgeous girl. She deserves a comfy sofa and a family to call her own.Xx

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

It was an early start yesterday to get all the Daybreaks kids fed and cleaned so they could go out to the walk at Brueton Park. It was a strange feeling having all the inmates out but they had a great time and it resulted in Mr Brandy going out to foster following the walk! Still on site to keep us company was Susie who had fun wandering around the kennels with Foxy whilst we attacked the cobwebs, blitzed the kitchen and other tasks. It all went nuts as soon as the kids started to return from their walk and at the same time we had the 3 new arrivals who needed to be bathed, photographed and settled in. I popped up late on the evening to check on the newbies and to remove their food bowls and this is when I found blood all over the floor of Sky's kennel..... her temperature was fine and whilst in the run she toileted again a large amount of blood. I therefore took her home and kept a close eye on her last night. Many years ago whilst on holiday one of my greys did a wee which looked just like pure blood. Not being a worrier at all I immediately thought she had ruptured something and was going to DIE!!!! Now.... many years of experience under my belt, I am guessing firstly (without the attempt to panic) it is a UTI and therefore a sample taken this morning was taken to the vets when I dropped off Sid and Skip for their castrates. The sample was checked and due to the intensity of blood in her urine she has an appointment this afternoon to be checked over..... better to be safe than sorry. We will keep you posted.... coffee time I think..... 🙂

Florence is not wearing her collar this evening (flea treatment applied to back of neck), how come she looks much bigger than usual!?! We can only assume that lots of her is usually hidden behind a 1.5" martingale! Xxx

I had the pleasure of bringing a couple of past Daybreaks residents to the kennels for a pamper session with Jess today. Steffie and Bobby are both very handsome black lads and it was brilliant to see how happy they are and how much their respective owners love them. Homes such as theirs are what we dream of for every retired Greyhound. Xxx

This lovely lad came with me to Brueton Park today. After only having arrived yesterday, everything was very new and exciting. He walked well and had to be at the very front for most of the walk ( he wasn't afraid to push and weave his way through anytime he fell vehind!). He stuck his head in every bush as well as sniffed every tree. I think he thoroughly enjoyed being out and about. He needed help getting in the car but was fine on the way back. He's a quick learner! Good luck with finding your forever home x
