I agree, with all the sadness of the past days it is refreshing to hear of Fins antics. Love it. Xxxxx

Well poor Jed’s racing past is catching up with him along with his advancing years, diagnosed with lumbar sacral disease he is now quite stiff and creaky so we are going on Wednesday to try canine massage to see if this will help to loosen him up, they did warn me that he may be so relaxed that he could fall asleep, now for those of you who know Jed and how chilled he is I doubt I will notice any difference in that respect!!

I agree with Ruth. What a sad few days, every time I hear of a Grey who has gone over Rainbow Bridge it brings back the sadness of the times we have had to let go of our own beautiful hounds, each of the 5 with their own lovely (sometimes quirky) personalities. So I thought I would remind us all of why we keep giving them their forever home despite the inevitable pain of loss, and try and lift the day a little, whilst sending love to the owners of the ones we have lost. Finlay is now becoming labelled "Fat Ball Finlay" after stalking me round the garden with my bucket of fat balls for the young birds. If I put the bucket down for a moment he is like a stealth bomber creep in, grab, take off fast. The neighbours think it is hilarious, me in hot pursuit of a Greyhound (before he can eat it) with as much chance of success of catching him as a mouse playing football with an elephant. I feel I will soon be starting a new club OOOG Club (Owner Of Obese Grey Hound). FAT FINLAY has a certain ring to it !!! don't you think LOL

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

What an emotional few days it has been with the loss of many of our precious greys..... it was truly emotional when I went out to Helen and Andy to fetch their precious Shaun - he looked so very peaceful and although an immense shock - what a way to go..... to lay down in the garden where you are happy and pass away..... Yesterday afternoon I sadly had to get Susie to the vets as an emergency - she was bitten by her kennel mate sadly whilst playing. For those with a strong stomach, there are photos. The bite just missed her eye and the main artery in her face so it could have been a lot worse. The vet bill for this was £640 - so if you think you could help towards it, please click the donation button - we are so grateful for any help towards this. Susie therefore came home with me...... most of you will know that she is one of our resident diva's! She doesn't sell herself as she barks and bosses her kennel mates and can come across as a proper grump! She is TOTALLY DIFFERENT outside of a kennel! She has been playing with toys, been clean overnight and has settled really well. I guess as I haven't got a spare kennel to put her in as we are absolutely full to bursting, she will be stopping with me until she gets a home. She gets my hug today! Ruth xx

Thanks everyone for your concerns regarding the mental anguish caused by the forgetting of my birthday. I have decided to retract my request to returned to Daybreaks, as we did all get fishy fingers and mashed tatoes, it was lovely. My mom did feel awful. x

    I’m Homed

I kept showing my mom my front paw last week and she noticed a dent in one of my paws which then turned into a hole. She took me to see Auntie Ruth yesterday and she had a good look but couldn't find anything in it, phew! She bandaged it up for protection and sent me on my way. She was so gentle, thank you Auntie Ruth. By this morning the bandage was off (not me honest!) but now mom and TC are making me wear a sock and boot when I walk - not happy - mom says I have smelly feet! Mom says anyone who is worried about their furry baby should speak with Auntie Ruth or Auntie Kate and soon Auntie Jo. I was going to tell you yesterday but mom got upset when she read about Bobby and Shaun and then we had to have big kisses and cuddles, then the SFF had to have cuddles and kisses too. Talking of SFF, Maud has been allowed to have some freedom in the garden, this morning she fell into the pond! TC said she was wet and stagnant at the same time. Lubs Florence xxx

    I’m Homed

I took Rory out for a walk along the canals and through some woodland today. When I went to collect him, I heard him before I saw him! However, once he was out of his kennel, I did not hear a peep from him. He walked beautifully and was just so happy to be out and about. He met (and scared off) some ducks but wasn't bothered by the other dogs, cyclists and runners on the canal. He travelled well and was great fun to be with. Please don't be put off by now vocal he is in his kennel, he just wants to be part of the action. Another handsome black boy who will make a great companion x

Just been out for a walk with Florence! It was great. Oh yeah you know that weird bottle thing with a little bowl on the top it works! I actually drank out of it. That made my family proud. Don’t know why but it has. Barney Xx

    I’m Homed

Well, hello everyone. This is my formal request to be returned to the kennels. Yesterday was my birthday and shock horror my mom forgot. How could she? You all know how she makes a big fuss when it's a birthday or gotcha day. So here I go on my rant: If she had changed the calendar it would have shown my birthday. What is her excuse.......My head is all over the place thinking about my new Job. No excuse in my eyes, although she has gone and bought fishy fingers for our dinner tonight, with mashed tatoes and vegetables. Oh and she said that sometimes when she is at work we might be able to go with her, bribery I think. Flloydy signing off and waiting for dinner. Xxxxx
