We met Sparky last week. I don’t think we’ve stopped speaking about him ever since. We don’t think we could give him the commitment any dog needs on second thought but we just love him. He is the perfect dog. Loves a cuddle but isn’t needy. Calm, gentle, obedient. He’s golden. I can’t find a single fault in him. I’m so sad to not be able to give him a forever home but I hope someone else can as he deserves it. He is adorable x

I am looking at doing another fundraiser for Daybreaks this summer. Thinking of taking part in the Wolf Run, Autumn event September 2nd or 3rd. I am currently trying to gather a group of people so we can all fundraise and participate together. The more the merrier right? What are your thoughts on this being suitable?? Ladies & Gents, Following on from my message below: ((by RobT Thursday 23 Feb 15:02 IMPORTANT TRAFFIC INFORMATION FOR STAFF, VOLUNTEERS AND VISITORS TO THE KENNELS: The slip road onto the A45 at the airport island has been CLOSED due to roadworks. This closure is going to last 6 months. Please plan your journeys ahead to count for this closure if it affects you. If you normally turn around at this island to rejoin the A45, you will need to head to the M42 island or the Stone Bridge island to turn around and back onto the A45.)) If you are travelling from Sheldon towards the Airport there is 1 lane closed just after the Airport junction going towards Stonebridge Island. Not sure how far down that way it goes as I get on the M42. The lane closure looks like it may be in place long term so please take extra care travelling in that direction.

Well, what can I say, today was almost tropical after the sub zero temperatures of earlier in the week. I personally did feel the temperature dropped this afternoon. All the inmates had walks that could and the gorgeous Magic had a few hours out at Brueton park and Solihull town centre. Thanks to Kitty's family for taking him out for a change of scenery. As always many thanks to all of the lovely volunteers who took the time to come in and give their help and give the hounds love and attention. Thanks also for the donation of bedding and towels.

    I’m Homed

A big cuddle for Bolt and his lovely Mom Hillary. Xxx They are moving home and came in to say Goodbye 🙁 We will really miss seeing you. Xxx When they visit, Bolt normally snuggles up in a bed in the office while Hillary goes and says Hello to the other Greyhounds. :)) Thanks so much to Hillary for all her support over the last few years and for giving Bolt such a fabulous home! He is a very special lad. xx Wishing you both lots of great times in your new home. Lots of love Kate, Skip, Lyra and Cracker Xxx

    I’m Homed

I was very relieved to not have to drive through snow to get to the kennels this morning! :)) Angie had almost finished feeding and cleaning when I arrived. Thanks so much. Xxx We would be lost with out you! Xxx Diane and Jess walked the residents for us this morning, and Jan and Gill walked them this afternoon. :)) Xxx Summer was due to go home today but due to unforeseen circumstances will now be going home on Monday....only a couple of extra sleeps at the kennels! :))) Jaz found herself reserved this afternoon! Xxx She will be going to live with three other beautiful Greyhounds...they all got on great today and Jaz didn't know who to talk to first. :)) She will be off to her new home in a couple of weeks. Xxx We had another viewing late this afternoon, lovely family. :)) I am so grateful to Keira for feeding all the dogs for me! Bless you. Xxx Normally on a Saturday morning we have Patric, our volunteer of nearly four years to help us...but he finished last week as he had been offered a part time job. :(( We were all very sad, including Pat. He has been invaluable, a real asset to the kennnels and it has been an absolute pleasure to have seen him grow from a very young Duke of Edinburgh student to the confident young man he is today. Wishing him every success for the future and hope one day he will have a Greyhound of his own. Xxx I am so grateful to everyone who comes in to help look after our wonderful Greyhounds, THANK YOU! :)) Xxx

    I’m Homed

It was a cold and frosty journey into the kennels this morning - but thank goodness most of the snow had disappeared. The boys and girls were all warm and snuggly when I opened up - I was tempted to have a lie down on one of the lovely heated beds!! The gorgeous Magic & Sparky are joint recipients of my Gold Star Clean Kennels Award today. The other kennels were, for various reasons, a bit more work - not the least of which was little Miss Truff Truff's. She had found or created a hole in the duvet cover and had kept herself entertained by pulling the innards of the duvet out and scattering them all over the bed and floor - it looked like indoor snow!!! She is such a character but is not happy in a kennel - she likes to be out and have some company. Tickets for our Easter Raffle have gone on sale at the kennels today. There are some great prizes, many thanks to Denise for donating the choccy hampers and eggs. There is even a hamper for your hound containing an Easter egg and special treats. The raffle will be drawn at our Easter Open Day on Sunday 2nd April. The diary for the weekend is quite full again so keep everything crossed that we see some red or green signs by Monday. Hopefully we have now seen the back of winter - I think we can all do with a bit of warmth and the sun on our face. Whatever you are up to this weekend, stay warm and safe. Angie x

    I’m Homed

Just when we thought the snow was gone, at 4am this morning when Peanut wanted a wee the snow was coming down fairly heavily. By 7an there was a substantial covering. We left to the Kennels extra early, not just because of the weather but due to Crufts being on and with the slip road by the Kennels being closed (thanks to Rob T for posting it is closed for the next 6 months) we had to go to the motorway island and got stuck in traffic but made it just in time to open up as we were without Angie today who is normally in earlier. Thanks to Laura and Chris for all their help today, it was so very cold and I had to shovel the snow from the paths around the Kennels. Thankfully as the day went on any remaining snow started to melt. Forecast is minus 8 degrees tonight!!!! Heaters on, under bed heating on and fleecy coats on. X

We were plunged back into Winter today! Not a nice experience driving to the kennels this morning! Even though the weather was grotty, my Skip insisted on coming with me and then spent the day next to the heater in the office! :)) Despite the snow and ice, our hardy students and volunteers came in to look after our dogs. :)) They were all very warm and snug in their beds and didn't seem to notice the snow when they came out for their breakfast. :)) Everyone had a stroll around the sand run morning and afternoon as it was a little slipply underfoot for walking along the lane or road. Understandably all the appointments in the diary were cancelled today...it wasn't the nicest of days to visit the kennels. Xx However, I did receive several videos on my phone from friends showing their Greyhounds having fun in the snow. Xxx My own lad, Cracker was dancing around in it on our morning walk. :))) Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who came in to help today. Xxx Hoping Spring is just around the corner!! Xxxx
