It’s been ageeeeeeeeeees since we last came to the caravan. Today we finally returned. Bags appeared and car was getting loaded. I knew exactly what was happening. I got so excited. I chucked my toys in the air did Zoomies and did the happy stomps!! After a couple hours we arrived and after we unpacked we went into the town! My god have I missed it!!! The hoomans went into a few shops and I whined and whined as they were taking too long. I want to go to my pet shop!! They were finally done so on we went. I was worried daddy would walk past so I pulled and pulled to make sure he was following me. He tried to go past it but I made sure he ended up coming into pet shop one way or another. After I stormed my way in I entered with a happy tail and went to the desk where the kind ladies keep the treats. I stood and stared at them until they noticed then they greeted me with fuss and gave me the yummy treats! They are best!! As we haven’t been for a while sister hooman treated me to a new toy while I was there. After that I then dragged my hoomans to where I get my doggy ice cream. So I made them cross the road and led them to the cafe and whined and waited till daddy kindly gave me it. Much love Sir Monty x

I have a bit of a soft spot for the gorgeous Magic. He waits so quietly and patiently for his turn to come out in the morning, and has started to give out lovely kisses now. He must find his very own sofa soon. Xx

Sid was as bright as a button this morning following his castrate yesterday. He was jumping up and down as his breakfast bowl approached- I had to remind him he was post op and should be taking it easy!! Xx

Roxy (Larky)

Little Miss Larky is something of a problem solver. Robbie was in the adjacent run to her this morning at breakfast time and had left a small amount of food in his bowl. She obviously knew it was there, and tried to scoop it out with her paw through the bars. When this didn’t work, she very cleverly started to tap the bottom of the bowl, knocking bits of food out onto the floor which she proceeded to scoop under the bar towards her - clever girl! It is so lovely to see the different personalities of our boys and girls start to emerge - Larky is one cute little girlie. Xx

Rocky

Foster update* Rocky has remained out on foster because it is so amazing to work with this lovely lad, share his learning and teach him. He is still working towards his forever sofa. He is settling into human life well. He can be left alone in the day and is settled. He continues sleep downstairs on his own (he can't/wont do stairs; we haven't pushed it). Eating and drinking well, house clean and obeys commands in the house well. Rocky plays well with his toys, has a lovely crazy time in the evening where he launches his toys around, bows and is he is just delightfully hilarious!! Rocky is slowly starting to become more desensitised to the world on his walks, he still remains quite distracted by other dogs and especially cats and squirrels; we're working hard with him and he's improving. He's a bit grumbly. He hasn't met any children yet so I can't comment on that. If you have experience in helping adopt and rehome Greyhounds, then Rocky is displaying very expected behaviours and he needs firm authority commands so that he knows how to manage his power and doesn't panic or overthink. Please ask the Kennels if you are looking for a lovable companion like Rocky. He is a gorgeous gentle giant who has a big soft heart and eager to learn and love. Rocky is staying with us out on foster as he is doing so well, in the hope that we can help him find his way and his forever home, it's our privilege and a pleasure to help this lovely lad x He's popping back to the kennels soon so we can't wait to see you all xx

Daybreaks Diary!

Angie opened up this morning as usual, Sid was booked in for his neutering today so off I went to the vets with a urine sample Angie managed to get!!! Due to the bus strike our college student wasn't in, thankfully Chris was and Richard came in for a meeting which was unfortunately cancelled, we took advantage and he went out on a walk with Chris. Matthew was back in after surgery and enjoyed his time teeth cleaning and grooming. Thanks Matt. Liz_Beth came in and helped with afternoon walks, so very grateful to her. There was a late viewing for one of the inmates with a further viewing tomorrow, fingers crossed for the prospective lucky dog, it was actually the daughter of the parents who sadly very recently lost their lovely boy who came in to do the viewing and went onto a video link. Every thing crossed. Xx

Over the Rainbow Bridge
It is with great sadness I heard the news beautiful Albert has gone to Rainbow Bridge. 🙁 Xxx His family are heartbroken. Xxx What a truly perfect gentleman Albert was....he was loved by everyone who met him during his time at Daybreaks. :)) Albert had many ups and downs in his life before finding true happiness with his wonderful family. Xxx Almost reaching his fourteenth Birthday he had a lovely long life with them, and I know he has left them with lots of loving memories. Thinking of you all, lots of love Kate Xxx

A year has passed since losing you Paddy and I still can see you snoozing on your bed. I thought it would be fitting for Belle & Sammy to have one of your favourite dinners tonight, Lily's Kitchen wild campfire stew. They both loved it just like you used to. We still miss you so much xx

I arrived at Daybreaks this morning to be greeted by my old friend Sunny who was being pampered by Laura. Its so nice for us volunteers when our old favourites come back and we can see how happy they are in their forever homes. I am sure he remembered me as we spent some time together like old times. After he had enjoyed some fun in the sand run, we said goodbye and I made sure he went home with something tasty to crunch. Hopefully it won't be too long before we meet again. I would have loved to have taken you home 5 years ago but couldn't, but its lovely to see you so loved by your family xx

Oh my goodness! We have sooo many beautiful Greyhounds looking for their forever homes at the kennels! It's a good thing I already have three of my own and not able to have anymore, as I would be taking every current resident home with me! We have girls Larky and Selina, both so very sweet and Truf Truf who is a real character and will bring lots of fun to the family who adopts her! 🙂 Then we have our gorgeous boys, Robbie who is such a happy lad. Sid and Magic, both very gentle boys with lots of love to give and wonderful Sparky, who,is just perfect! :))) We also have an ever growing waiting list of more boys and girls waiting patiently for their chance of a forever home. Please give us a call if you are interested in meeting any of our fabulous Greyhounds. :)) Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for your help today...we missed our friends who have to rely on getting a bus to visit us....Laura's husband had the car today, and as there were no buses Laura came on her brother's scooter! :)) X Xxx
