It was a cold and frosty journey into the kennels this morning - but thank goodness most of the snow had disappeared. The boys and girls were all warm and snuggly when I opened up - I was tempted to have a lie down on one of the lovely heated beds!! The gorgeous Magic & Sparky are joint recipients of my Gold Star Clean Kennels Award today. The other kennels were, for various reasons, a bit more work - not the least of which was little Miss Truff Truff's. She had found or created a hole in the duvet cover and had kept herself entertained by pulling the innards of the duvet out and scattering them all over the bed and floor - it looked like indoor snow!!! She is such a character but is not happy in a kennel - she likes to be out and have some company. Tickets for our Easter Raffle have gone on sale at the kennels today. There are some great prizes, many thanks to Denise for donating the choccy hampers and eggs. There is even a hamper for your hound containing an Easter egg and special treats. The raffle will be drawn at our Easter Open Day on Sunday 2nd April. The diary for the weekend is quite full again so keep everything crossed that we see some red or green signs by Monday. Hopefully we have now seen the back of winter - I think we can all do with a bit of warmth and the sun on our face. Whatever you are up to this weekend, stay warm and safe. Angie x

Just when we thought the snow was gone, at 4am this morning when Peanut wanted a wee the snow was coming down fairly heavily. By 7an there was a substantial covering. We left to the Kennels extra early, not just because of the weather but due to Crufts being on and with the slip road by the Kennels being closed (thanks to Rob T for posting it is closed for the next 6 months) we had to go to the motorway island and got stuck in traffic but made it just in time to open up as we were without Angie today who is normally in earlier. Thanks to Laura and Chris for all their help today, it was so very cold and I had to shovel the snow from the paths around the Kennels. Thankfully as the day went on any remaining snow started to melt. Forecast is minus 8 degrees tonight!!!! Heaters on, under bed heating on and fleecy coats on. X

We were plunged back into Winter today! Not a nice experience driving to the kennels this morning! Even though the weather was grotty, my Skip insisted on coming with me and then spent the day next to the heater in the office! :)) Despite the snow and ice, our hardy students and volunteers came in to look after our dogs. :)) They were all very warm and snug in their beds and didn't seem to notice the snow when they came out for their breakfast. :)) Everyone had a stroll around the sand run morning and afternoon as it was a little slipply underfoot for walking along the lane or road. Understandably all the appointments in the diary were cancelled today...it wasn't the nicest of days to visit the kennels. Xx However, I did receive several videos on my phone from friends showing their Greyhounds having fun in the snow. Xxx My own lad, Cracker was dancing around in it on our morning walk. :))) Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who came in to help today. Xxx Hoping Spring is just around the corner!! Xxxx

One word for today....freezing! Despite this the inmates had morning and afternoon walks. All had their teeth cleaned and were groomed, in addition as it was too cold to bring them out for playtime their enrichment for today was lots of cuddles and fuss. It was great to welcome Chris back after her holiday and the Wednesday walkers were in full force this morning. I for one cannot wait for the warmer weather, no doubt when that happens we will complain about it being too hot. As I was doing some work on the computer before Ieft I hadn't noticed the snow coming down thick and fast, when Peanut and I left my car had quite a good layer of snow! Take care everyone and be careful in this weather. X

It feels like yesterday when we picked Penny up but its been a touch over 2 weeks already!! Time flies when your having fun... She has been fabulous. Absolutely stunning. Very well behaved. Learnt when told no. Loves to whine when we one of us goes to work but then greets us with massive cuddles when we come home. Loves to bounce around on our bed and bedroom floor. Then loves to lie chilled out on the sofa watching TV. She has just been phenomenal. Such a great addition to our family. So grateful to Daybreaks and everything they do!! I am looking forward to working more with them and to the future with Penny

It wasn't quite as cold as I was expecting it to be today, we even saw a little sunshine. 🙂 Our residents enjoyed their walks and Truf had a trip to the park with Norman. Xxx Post-op girls Jaz and Summer had a gentle stroll around the sand run. Summer will soon be going off to her new home. Hoping it won't be long before Jaz finds her forever home too. Xxx We had a problem with the shower in the treatment room....Laura was giving little Truf a quick bath when it gave up working. We had to fill up a few buckets of warm water to finish off her bath! Thankfully with the help of Richard and Steve all is good and the shower is fixed. :)) We also have a problem with the electric gate which is still work in progress.... Thanks so much to everyone for their help today. :)) Very, very much appreciated! Xxx

Once again I am in love! Everytime I look at Sparky my heart melts. :)) He is a gentle, quiet lad but there is a cheeky side to him Xx He loves to bounce around in the feeding runs and he smiles! When he comes out for his bedtime wee, he walks gently by your side back to his kennel and very politely takes his bedtime treat from you. Xxx

Although Truf Truf arrived at Daybreaks back in January because of niggling little problems she has not been able to be taken to the park until today. I therefore this morning took her for a walk in Brueton Park. She loved the experience and behaved impeccably. Travelled well in the car and walked sensibly on the lead. She met other breeds without any aggression. Hopefully that permanent home will not be too long in arriving for this affectionate girl.

Thanks as always to everyone for their help today, we were a few volunteers short but all the inmates had morning and afternoon walks. We saw the gorgeous Stacy now Ruby go home, all the very best to her and her family. It was so very cold today, but the dogs were all comfy and warm with their under bed heating and fleecy coats on.
