Well now the fireworks are gone there is a scary storm! More loud scary noises. It’s very windy! In the night the thunder kept me awake. So I’m am going to sleep most of the day. I went out for a walk and my lead was blowing everywhere. I hope the weather improves. Barney Xx

Aggghhhhh!!!!! First calamity of the year! I took Mary into the sand run which she thoroughly enjoyed and as we were going back through the gate, the wind slammed the door shut..... and her tail was in the way 🙁 Luckily not broken but bleeding and will be sore - poor babe.

Just reading back on jets profile from before we had him and still makes me cry every time I read it lol! People probably don't look at his profile now from so long ago, but in case anyone was a jet fan, we can assure you that he's spoilt absolutely rotten and totally adored! Personality hasn't changed one bit, still a laid back, happy bouncy boy who thoroughly enjoys life! He's so patient and has to put up with his overly obsessive mom and all the waifs and strays I take in and loves them all! He is a fabulous advert for the breed and gets so many compliments wherever he goes! Thank you so much to all at day breaks for letting us have him, he's truly wonderful and couldn't imagine our life without him! You're all little angels! Jet sends his love! Xxx

Well the bangs look like they are gone, I hope they are gone forever. I’m glad they didn’t last that long. My sister said I am a good boy and I coped better than last time. I got some peanut butter as a special reward. I have been on lots of adventures recently. I went to see my friend Freddie, the chocolate lab again today. He has a new baby sister called Bella. She is a cross of a Gloden Retriever and a Labrador. She kept coming close to me. I like my personal space when I rest so I growled at her a few times. Me and Freddie went on a walk. My daddy let me off the lead and I ran so fast. Freddie ran after me but he didn’t do a good job at keeping up. He tried. Hope everyone had a great new year and I hope everyone will have a good 2018! Skye is back at the kennels today after having a lovely Christmas with her Foster family. They said she has been a lovely house guest and if they were in the position to keep her would have offered her a home with them. Sure with her good looks and charm it won't be long before she finds her special home comes along. Xxx

Hope you’re settling back into your kennel, it was so lovely having you to stay for christmas Violet and we miss you! This lady will make a fantastic pet, wish our circumstances were different and we could offer it to you. She is just a cuddle monster wants to be near you all the time, she is a quick learner and I’ve never seen a tail wag so much. She has been clean in the house apart from two tiny accidents. She took a bit of time to settle with our dog Holly, initially growling every time she saw her but with some positive reinforcement by today she was running round the garden playing with her! She is strong on the lead but has improved over the week and will get better with consistent training She has adapted well to living in a house, fascinated by the telly just watch your dinner though as she does like to sample it She showed interest in other dogs and small furries but never any aggression We hope she gets a good home soon as she deserves it

Mary is an absolute bundle of fun. She was a delight to have around the house. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and it was sad to take Mary back to the kennels today. We can only really say good things about her. She was such a happy, playful little thing. She would play around with her toys for about 10 minutes and would then settle down for a little nap. She did love flying around the garden, churning it up, trying to get our own grey, Molly, to join her. Molly was having none of it though (she's a very lazy grey). Even though it was her first time in a house environment, she was very quick to learn. She would go into the living room to lie down whilst we were eating in the dining room, she didn't really pester us whilst in the kitchen either. The difference in just the 11 days that we had her was great. She started off really excited and inquisitive on the first day and perhaps a little anxious of a few things. A few days in and she found her feet and voice! Obviously, she is still a pup and not used to the "outside world". This showed on her walks when she saw other breeds of dog, she would get very excited, crying and barking and jumping about on her lead. Once out of sight she settled back down. Besides this she walked very well on her lead. This is the main area she would need training in. Every time we went out in the car she travelled really well. We do hope that Mary finds her forever home very soon as she will make an excellent addition to the right family. If any potential adoptive families have any questions please feel free to contact us.

Am I the only one who is frightened to look at who is back from fostering? Sounds like they have all been having a lovely fun Christmas and it was great of the foster'ers to give them this chance, but I cannot help thinking about the hounds being returned (especially if they have been re-homed before) Let's hope that knowing how good they where whilst out on leave adopter's will flood in for the new year and make it a short return back to Daybreaks. It is wonderful that Daybreaks, Ruth and its dedicated volunteers are always there to give the care these lovely dogs deserve .Happy New year to you all

It was so very hard to leave this little girl behind at the kennels today. She has been an absolute dream this past 10 days and we have thoroughly enjoyed introducing her to the big, wide world. Her personality is really starting to shine now, she is a playful cheeky little monkey! She play bows, backside in the air, tail wagging like crazy, and woofs at her toy as if to say "come on then, come and play!". She had a mad zoomies in the sand run this morning, dashing about with a squeaky ball having so much fun. She is a clever little girl and learns very quickly - after trying to roach on our narrow sofa and nearly rolling off twice, she wisely gave up trying!! I am sad that she couldn't be one of Daybreaks' failed fosters, but if anyone is interested in her we are more than happy to answer any questions - and hope that she will be on her way to her own home very soon - she really deserves it and will be a fabulous addition to the right family. Good luck sweetheart. xxxxx

Shandy
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Happy New Year to everyone at Daybreaks, let’s hope this year brings us lots of lovely new homes for the Greys...and as for Shandy she has had a lovely time in the Peak District on some long walks where she has found her voice and now before her morning walk she likes to jump around like a kangaroo and bark at us (her playful personality is starting to show now she is losing her nervousness). So funny to see and on our return home she decided no more sleeping on her own downstairs and came to join us upstairs (with a bit of help until she masters it). Only thing is today she has realised how comfy the bed is so I’m not sure we will get it back tonight. We hope 2018 is a great one for everybody xxx
