What a pretty little black and white hound she is. Think my Delphy may be a tad jealous if I bought this one home!!!

I took this little lady to the road show in Stratford today. She was absolutely fantastic. She demanded fuss from everyone passing by and if they did try to sneak past her, she made a bee line for them!! I found myself being 'encouraged' down the street a few times! She greeted all dogs politely and was great with children. The street was very busy and I think she may have felt a bit bewildered at times, but still behaved impeccably. She jumped into the car (and out again) with no problems. She's also a lot smaller than my girl and so would be great for someone after a smaller hound. She is friendly, enthusiastic, sociable and can't wait to explore the world after racing. I hope she picks her perfect owner very soon and they will be lucky to have her xx

Sounds like the perfect people have adopted Casey, they all have little hangups and our grey Dexter hates other dogs but after 4 years we figure he's not gonna change now, but he's much better than he used to be, and he used to growl if you went near his bed, now I can lie with him and do anything to him and he just loves the attention. It is so rewarding watching them grow in confidence in your care and become happy healthy hounds. Casey is a very lucky boy to have such fantastic owners. Keep up the good work xxxx

It's been a pleasure watching Casey develop in recent weeks. We still have plenty of work to do with him but he has come on so well. We have to send massive thanks to Kate, Ruth, Julie S and Christian at Fivelands. Many of you may know that Casey came to Daybreaks after 10 months at HMP Littlehey - we have his notes from the prison and it was clear that they had taken great care of him. However, we was not a well dog and was suffering from a very unpleasant infection among other things. He was also very thin and a bit miserable. We had spent some time with him in his kennel and something in his eyes made us believe that he was a very nice hound but really quite unhappy. We orginally offered to take him home for 3 days over Easter and it was only then that we realised that he had a couple of quite aggressive habits which worried us and seemed to get worse. With the help of those mentioned above, we exhausted all possible casuses of his behaviour with a view to improving his quality of life. Whatever we did has resulted in a much, much happier hound, but we believe that two things in particular have made a huge difference to him: At the suggestion of Julie S we have introduced raw food into his diet. From his prison records we could see that Casey had not eaten well for 12 months. Since starting with raw, his appetite has gone through the roof and he is filling out again into an impressive specimen. It's such a relief to see him getting stuck into everything we give him. The second suggestion from Julie was to take Casey to see a chiropractor to make sure he was free of pain. We took him to see a very nice lady called Wendy Lymer who treated him on two visits. We observed a massive improvement in Casey on both occasions and suspect that he had been in discomfort for a long time. He appeared to have had some issues with his jaw and neck. The change in Casey after such a short period of time as a result of Wendy's treatment has been nothing short of remarkable. I would absolutely recommend Wendy check out any hound as even the most minute of adjustments can make a big difference to general well being. So now we have adopted a happy, healthy hound. Despite our best efforts he would still like to maul other breeds and we still can't go anywhere near him while he's on his bed. Apart from that he's our perfect hound!

Aw bless, our late grey Reggie suffered from corns, luckily our vet used to work at the track and he just pops them out, I know not all vets do this, but it can be done, but also we used to use little booties for him when not walking on grass, they are so painful for them, it's horrible. Hope Brae is OK xxxx

Hi Tash, so sorry to hear Brae has a corn. My Brother's Greyhound has a corn too and he does the same as Liz and puts a boot on Mannie when he goes for a walk. Ruth is an expert on corns :)) sure she would be happy to have a chat with you. Kate Xxx

My dog has had a series of corns since Christmas. A bootie definitely helped her whilst out walking. On Ruth's recommendation, I have put a tiny piece of gaffa tape on the pad effected most recently (she's had 2 corns removed from same pad in one month) and that does seem to be helping to. I think the idea behind it, is that blocking the oxygen supply kills the corn. Good luck with it. These corns are really rotten for our hounds.

What a great character he is. He loved his walk and just wanted to explore every bit of the lane. He came back with quite a lot of foliage attached to his head!! I went to see him again before leaving the kennels and he just bounced with the joy of having a visitor. I'm sure he will give some lucky person a lot of laughs and fun times xx

Any advice appreciated... Brae started limping on her (hock injured) leg last night so initially we thought she'd strained the joint however, having a close look at her pads, it appears that she may have a corn. Not dealt with one on a paw before and vet (via phone) has suggested that we use a fine emery board to file the area prior to our appointment on Monday. Is there anything else we should be doing to help Brae's discomfort? Many thanks, Tash

I made friends yesterday with Wolfy. He's a little bit nervous at least until he gets to know you but i'm confident that given time and his own little bit of space he will be a lovely happy loving pet for some lucky family. It will just take a little bit of time and patience but what better reward than to gain the trust and love of a shy nervous dog and he's so lovely too xx
