It's been a late finish for us today as Lady has just been returned after being homed this afternoon. Her new owner was understandably too upset to bring her into the kennels but felt is was the right decision which we support. A family member told us that she had become very excited in the garden and frightened the younger family members because of this. Lady is our longest stayer and we are desperate to find this little girl a home. If you would like more information about her, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the kennels.

    I’m Homed

Fizz was neutered on Friday and had 10 teeth removed. Despite being really stressed at the kennels over the last week, after initial stress at my house, she has settled like a dream! She slept downstairs last night without a sound, has been 100% clean and is a happy girl. She can do stairs and I took her with me this afternoon to visit some friends on a narrowboat in Bromsgrove. She took it all in her stride and will make someone as fantastic pet xx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

The 1st Stratford Walk of the year was given an awful weather forecast but amazingly the Weather Gods relented and the hour long walk was completed in dry conditions I took Lady Smith along for a day out and must say that this sweet lovable girl is beginning to blossom into an absolutely wonderful greyhound. Her trainers comments that she is not always the best with other dogs are the complete opposite of what I have found with both her visit to Elmdon Park last Tuesday with me and at todays Stratford Walk. She mixed well with all the other greys today in absolutely exempelary manner. NO problems whatsoever. She also passed other breeds of dogs( some very noisy!) on the walk with no issues at all. She can be easily startled so being homed with boisterous small children may not be ideal. This exceptionally sweet affectionate girl who travels well in the car and is very relaxed on the lead will prove to be a fantastic loving companion to the lucky person who finally offers her the forever home she so deserves.

    I’m Homed

I had the pleasure of taking Jingle to the Stratford walk today. She travelled fine in the car lying down gently into the space Paddy left her. She enjoyed the walk and was happy to be close to Paddy and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the big wide world. Jingle is a very loving girl too to all who came to say hello along the way. We met two noisy terrier dogs but Jingle wasn't bothered by them at all and seemed to say what's all the fuss about! I am confident she will make a superb loyal loving pet for some lucky people as she was a joy to be with today xx

I have had 8 greys so far in total, currently have 4! But I have as I said previously had 5 from from Daybreaks. Daybreaks did not exist when I had my first 3 but I am so very thankful I found them and have been able to offer a home to some of these wonderful hounds, although the last one was a bit of an accident (failed foster by the way before anyone jumps on me for saying accident)! So very glad I failed with Maxi as he is totally gorgeous, as are all greyhounds. Xxxxx

Moe is a big bundle of fun. I went to visit him in his kennel and he certainly knows how to make you feel welcome. He soon settled down on our walk was no trouble at all. Moe is a big, lovable character and you would not be short of entertainment if you adopted him.

What a difference a week makes. I went to see how Ladysmith is getting on and I was greeted by a very happy looking hound. We went for a walk and she is very easy to handle. Lovely, lovely little hound.

Yes, I shed a tear too, I think all of us that have gone through loosing a grey know exactly how you feel, especially your first grey, for us our first dog together and first greyhound experience, we only managed a few weeks without Charlie before we came to Daybreaks and adopted Bertie, for us with no children the house was so empty and lifeless that I just could not bare to be there, six years on I still miss Charlie and think about him every day, but we have been so blessed with the two cheeky monkeys that we have now, both totally different to Charlie and each other, now at 11 and 12 I just thank my lucky stars everyday that they are with us, it's just so hard when it's thier time to go to the bridge, we are so sorry for your loss , ruby looked like an amazing girl X

  • Luna

    I’m Homed

Luna is such a lovely girl, child, greyhound, other breed and chicken friendly! But, sadly, gets a little excited with cats, so a cat free home would be best. She loves to "talk" and is a real cuddle monster, her overshot top jaw makes her extra cute. She came with us to Melbicks last weekend, on our monthly awareness, and she loved all the fuss.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. Ruby will be forever in our hearts as are all of our fur babies that have crossed over the bridge. Ruby was our second Greyhound. We were lucky enough to have our family blessed with Penny, also a RGT hound in 2004 and she shared her life with us for 6 beautiful years. Both girls were completely different in character but both were absolutely perfect.
