It was a quiet day at the kennels today. I guess everyone is gettting ready to go back to school, college and work after the summer holidays...can't believe it is September already. It has also been quiet for viewings and homings the last couple of weeks. Hoping that will change soon...we have lots of gorgeous Greyhounds waiting for their forever homes at the kennels and on our waiting list. Xxx if you think you could offer one of our boys or girls a loving forever home please give us a call - 0121 782 7702 Thanks so much to everyone who helped out today. So kind of you...Gill and Sam were our only walkers this afternoon...four walks for Sam and five for Gill! :)) All of our residents were very grateful and so was I :)) Xxx

Morning everybody, I am currently raising money for Daybreaks by doing my own bike ride. I work at the CBS Arena in Coventry, home to Cov City football club & Wasps Rugby club. I will be riding from the arena to CCFC training ground then to Wasps training ground then to Daybreaks kennels. I have set up a GoFundMe page if anyone wishes to donate. All funds on there will be going straight to the kennels. I am currently in the process of getting a bike and kit together for my ride. Tim, Sue, Anna and Daisy, I am so very sorry to hear your very sad news. You gave Stanley the most loving caring home he could have been given. I spoke to Tim several times over the past few months with regular updates on Stanley. He reached a fantastic age no doubt due to your love and care. There is never a right time to say goodbye but we do it out of love and kindness. Stanley, run fast and free, your wings were ready but the hearts were not. Much love to your family, Jo xxx

Wednesday am. With a very broken heart and sad news Stanley has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Very old age caught up with him. It was the right thing to do for Stanley but never the right time for us (humans). He was 5 weeks shy of his 14th year and 5 weeks shy of being with us 9.5 years (from 11.4.2013 the time flew by). He was courageous and dignified and a gentle giant. We owed him so much, we gave loads of love and cuddles and he gave it back in bucket loads. He gave us so much joy. Our lives were enriched by him and our other greys, Brandy & Gemma. His sister Daisy is doing well and has been with us 3.5 yes. Thank you all at Daybreaks for your fabulous work and dedication. Good luck to all and Al greys awaiting a forever home/sofa. Lots of love Tim, Sue, Anna (Spanner) and of course Daisy xxxx

?Many thanks to everyone for their help today, the Wednesday walkers this morning and our two lovely afternoon volunteers. There were health checks and weighings to be done, thanks to Denise for doing those, although Rocky made it very difficult to weigh him as he wouldn't stand still. Wishing Denise a very happy birthday for tomorrow and the same to Wednesday walker Deb for Saturday. Xx Just a tip....if you are in the sand run with Ruth's Tony, don't bend over to pick up poo, he will run into you as he did with Ruth today and knocked her over flat on her back!!!!

Appearances can be deceptive and although Rocky at 40kgms plus has the look of a fearless heavyweight boxer he can still be quite unsure of himself in new situations. He apparently found the stress of the race track too much for him which could explain why in Elmdon Park today he appeared uncertain how to react when meeting other breeds. I'm sure in time he will be fine and with the right adopters who can understand his personality he will settle into home life perfectly
