How nice to see the sunshine today after yesterday’s monsoon!! It was Gold Stars all round again this morning for clean, easy kennels - well done boys & girls. Duque was a happy boy, bouncing rather high in the run in anticipation of his “soggy” breakfast - food well soaked after his dental yesterday. Our Miss Minnie Moose loves accompanying us to the kennels on a Saturday, she just loves her Aunty Kate, likes greeting the other Greys (especially the boys!!!) and is now happy to receive some fuss from everyone who comes through the gate - she has made such progress bless her. We have some beautiful boys & girls in residence, all patiently waiting for their forever families to walk through the gate. Daybreaks Diary!

What a very wet day we had but I still enjoyed it as we had extra indoor time with the inmates. I had the help from 6 volunteers from HSBC and they really enjoyed learning all about the breed and were very hands on with giving every dog a full health check! They took Mikey in the sand run and he loved showing off how fast he can run! Jo dropped off and I collected Duque from the vets - he is such a lovely lad. I have been taking Jet home with me and he is just fantastic. As we have 4 viewings booked for this weekend the Greyhound Board agreed I could keep him rather than him being transferred to a foster home up north. Thank you to Angie, Chris, Matthew, Suzy and Kayla for volunteering too. I have today finalised the proofs for next year’s calendar which should be available in about a week along with our Christmas cards!

Duque

Duque had his dental yesterday- 8 teeth out. As we have been told by his trainer he has not been neutered but has no ‘baubles’, blood tests were done to check his hormone levels as the vet didn’t want to open him up until 100% confirmed he’s not neutered! He is just adorable!

Happy belated birthday wishes to your lovely Cracker! Glad to hear that the egg custard tradition was maintained. I do however worry about his choice of nylabones, maybe he’s not read the section in the greyhound handbook about choosing the squeakiest fluffy toy just to annoy his hoomans ???? xx

Everyone loved the egg Custards last night! Today Cracker visited Pets At Home to find a nice present for his Birthday. He was such a good boy and didn't take any notice of the small fluffy live animals! :)) He came back with two Nylabones...one for him and one for Lyra. He knew Skip would be far too sophisticated to enjoy chewing a plastic toy! So we bought him a treat instead. :))) Xxx

Gorgeous Jet…. Oh my goodness… if I had room he wouldn’t be going anywhere!!! He is just perfect! Gentle, house trained, good with others, good with other breeds and Guinea Pigs! Can be left and is desperately handsome! He is due to go to a foster home up north as arranged by his trainer unless we can find him a home before then! We had two go out to foster yesterday- the gorgeous Arthur and Mr Teddy who he arrived at Daybreaks Kennels with! Since arriving, Arthur seemed stressed in his kennel and barked so had lost some weight due to his stress. Thank you Nicole for fostering him. We hope he is a good boy for you.
