It's with great sadness that I learned that Martie passed away on the 7th June at only 9 years old, he was Bertie's litter brother ( along with Dave and Michelle's Den and suzies Flossie ) he was the splitting image of his mom Mindy. My brother and sister in law are devastated, he was completely fine in the morning and then suffered a huge heart attack completely out of the blue, from which he never recovered. Run free Martie, you were such a good boy and so loved, Bertie and Blade will miss you as will all of us, run free my beauty xx

Just an update to let you know that it's 1 week since Benny came to join us and he is making great progress. The visit to the vets was a piece of cake. The hardest bit was getting him into the car! After my clumsy attempt to copy the recommend lifts he thought "blow this"and jumped in and out on his own ! The lift that I chose would be ok for a man but my arms are just too short. I avoided the the lift with my arms under him as I was conscious of his recent castration. He doesn't seem to be any the worse from my efforts but my back is killing me !!

Daisydog here dropping by to say that I have been signed off by the vet today. Hurrah! i am better! Daisydog was, as some of you know, one of the most nervous girls in the whole world. Some days are still a challenge, especially if they contain men and bicycles. However she happily comes to meetings with me, into busy pubs and restaurants (everyone in Norfolk has a dog - fabulous) and sits in the back of my car with her harness on, well strapped in, roof off, ears blowing in the breeze. So proud of my girl. Please don't overlook the nervous ones - the rewards are just so amazing. Love you Daisydog xx

  • Max

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Please people do not be put off by the size of Max I was looking for a small companion and ended up with Lottie one of the biggest females ever seen! Lottie is lovely and you would be surprise at how small she can make herself when curled up on lounge rug. I haven't met Max but I can see from the photo how sad his eyes are, please someone put some joy into them he will repay you ten fold. There is something really rewarding in turning a hounds life around for the best you won't regret it.

    I’m Homed

Hi I was there when he was brought back and can confirm that it was only down to a relationship problem and they were devastated. Yes Harry is nervous around people he doesn't know but is coming round and out of his shell with each and every day. He just needs time, but this issue can be seen in a few of the dogs that come in. All the volunteers work very hard to rehabilitate the dogs.

Please, please, does any one have sofa room for handsome Max. Much as he is loved and looked after at Daybreak's he is very sad and needs his forever home. He was very sad today and didn't want to go for his walk and I had to do a lot of encouraging. He is a tall boy but very very loving. Fingers crossed for him that a home comes soon. Sending you hugs Max. Xx

Emma this is such very sad news to read. You gave her the best of love and the best of care and she rewarded that in spades by bringing you all so much joy. When the pain of her passing eases I'm sure you will all have many happy memories to look back on from your 3 and a half years together. We are thinking of you all at this time. Sleep tight little Frankie xxxx

    I’m Homed

Looking at Harry's background , l notice that he was returned before by his owners due to behavioural problems, and taken back the next day. Recently, he has been returned due to a marriage break up. However, a recent comment tends to indicate that this may not be the case, but his return, may indicate ongoing behavioural problems.l don't know what the issue is with this boy may be, but until it is clear exactly why he is back at kennels, l can not see how he can be helped.l know that my comments on this website are not always appreciated by certain people, but by not giving the full picture of a dog, then that is not helping the dog. Let's be honest with these dogs, and tell it how it is, this way foster parents....and prospective adoption families will realise what they are taking on. Our boy Davey has been a complete nightmare since we adopted him over 2 years ago, but although we have stuck with him, and will never, ever give up on him, he does make life difficult. We know that he has been mentally damaged by what he went through in racing kennels, we have learned to try and understand him, and make compensations. l really hope that my comment is approved. Please, if you have the patience, the time, and the understanding to give these dogs a chance, it is so,so worth it. Greyhounds, can often need time to settle in...please, do not give up too easily, because if you can work through their issues...they will repay you a million times over.Good luck Harry...you will make a lovely companion for the right person X.
