Dear Emma and family, I was really saddened to read about Frankie. It's heart breaking to lose a special friend like this and I'm sure you are all terribly upset. There is nothing I can say that will make it any better but please take comfort in knowing what a special time she had with you and how much love she received from you all.

    I’m Homed

A week ago today, my heart was broken completely when we had to say goodbye to our beloved little girl Frankie. She had been poorly over Xmas with protein losing enteropathy caused by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). With the wonderful care of Your Vet Solihull and Willows, they managed to stabilise her, to the point where she had increased her weight, her bloods were fine, and we were reducing her meds with a view to her coming off them altogether. The previous week she was being sniffy about her food, then over the weekend she had sickness and diarrhoea so we took her to the vets and tried some different meds, and after briefly perking up a bit on Mon she went rapidly downhill. Ultrasound showed that her insides were in a mess, and that it was either a massive flare up of IBD that she would be unlikely to recover from, or alimentary lymphoma. Either way things weren’t looking good. We did the only thing we could and, although it broke our hearts, we let her go. She was surrounded by her family and as much love as a little greyhound could ever want, and we talked to her and cuddled her as she slipped away. I promised her she would stay with us forever and now she’s back home from Heart Of England, I can keep that promise to her always. We may only have had her for 3 ½ years but we gave her a lifetimes worth of love and she repaid it back ten-fold. Sleep tight sweetheart xxx

    I’m Homed

Well it's just over a week since Joyce's visit and Lottie continues to improve, the rabbits on park will always be a challenge (they disappeared completely when Joyce came!!!) but most of the time we get by them with pointy ears only and no launching. Lottie is so much more relaxed on walks now and will even happily leave the house behind me instead of dragging me through the door. At the risk of increasing Joyce's work load I would seriously recommend this training. None of this training has involved any raised voices or actually treats, it's just bringing the pack mentality back, a language all our dogs understand.

I'm sure Benny will be fine. He just needs some time to settle into his new world. When we first had Lucy, she could be a bit nervy and flashed the sad, unsure eyes at people, while hiding behind us. A few years later and she now goes up to people happily, attempting to mug them for treats on occasion and is so uncertain of herself that she shouted at Andy when he dared sit on the sofa with her earlier (and is why she is now sulking on the floor!). Benny will find his paws with his new family to guide him and I'm sure all will be well. TLC will soon turn the light in his eyes on and he is a gorgeous little lad. I really enjoyed walking him a couple of weeks ago. Onwards and upwards one day at a time; you'll get there. He probably will try to melt into the wall at the vets, Lucy still does 5 years on... All the best!

Lovely to read an update on Ash. His little 'sister' Kylie will be 10 in a few weeks. I'm sure she'd send him lots of licks and snuggles. Ash is definitely a trooper! Well done to you all and good to know he's so cared for. All the best to all of you from all of us x

    I’m Homed

Willow has been with us for 9 months already and she seems to feel 'at home' now. She prefers company but copes well being left for a few hours. I have the most perfect neighbours who toilet her and listen out for her whilst I am at work so I worry far less these days. They really are the best. Willow shares our bedroom, sleeping in a corner of the room on a bed that would suit the Princess from ' The Princess and the Pea'. She is very content there! She eats well, walks well on the lead, loves people and all sizes of dogs, has fabulous recall in the absence of rabbits and squirrels and is an utter joy. We have adopted a little bit of Heaven and although we will never forget the wonderful Iris, we have grown to love this dog. Last Monday she was assessed to see if she is suitable as a Pets as Therapy dog and I will let you all know if she is successful when I find out. I think she will be very good as she has shown her people skills at a couple of roadshows and of course Crufts. She really is a lovely, lovely dog, who has her moments - digging in the garden, raking the carpet on the landing and telling me the time... Breakfast time, dinner time, walkies time! Ha ha We are glad we adopted our black beauty, although it did take time for things to drop into place. It's been worth the time and commitment as Willow gives it all back in spades! Best wishes to you all. The Smiths

Love this handsome boy! He can be a bit vocal at times, but it is his way of trying to tell you that he wants to be out of the kennels and off on an adveture with you somewhere exciting, then having a long snooze and cuddle afterwards! He has the most amazing intelligent eyes, and I think he will be a quick learner. Fingers crossed he's on his way to his own sofa very soon now. Big cuddles gorgeous. xx

Ahh, thank you for saying that, but all the credit should really go to Sam. Although I pushed to have Ash, it's Sam who cooks all his steak & pork chops (I can't cook!) & now takes him out on walks & holds him up (he had become too heavy for me to take his weight) & it's Sam who gets up to him in the night. The two have formed quite the bond (although, I love it when Ash runs to me & wipes his snotty face all over me when I come in from work!) Actually, on here I would like to send Sam lots of love & thanks for letting us have Ash & for taking care of him. You are a star & he loves you so much x
